확산방정식을 이용한 헬리컬 드래그펌프의 성능해석 (Analysis of Pumping Performance of a Helical Drag Pump Using the Diffusion Equation)

  • A simple analytical model of rarefied channel flow is developed to predict the compression ratio in a helical drag pump. If the surface velocity is zero, the model reduces to a capillary leaks. Predictions of our model agree well with the Knudsen's data for capillary leaks in transition flow, in addition to giving a good account of the Knudsen minimum. Also, the present results are compared with experimental data, and good agreement is obtained over the entire pressure range from molecular to slip flow.

산소 미세 펌프가 내장된 미세 세포 계수기 (Micro Cell Counter Integrated with An Oxygen Micropump)

  • This paper describes fabrication of a micro cell counter integrated with an oxygen micropump and counting experiment with Sephadex G-25 beads ($70{\sim}100\;{\mu}m$). The pumping part consisted of a microheater, catalyst (manganese dioxide) enveloped with paraffin, hydrogen peroxide, and microchannel, and the counting part consisted of collimated light, a microwindow, and a phototransistor including an external circuit. The micropump generated oxygen gas by decomposing hydrogen peroxide with manganese dioxide, which was initiated by melting the paraffin with the microheater, and pumped beads in the microchannel. When the beads passed the microwindow, they shaded the collimated light and changed the illumination on the phototransistor, which caused the current variation in the circuit. The signals, according to the bead size, reached up to 22 mV with noise level of 2 mV during 50 seconds and the numbers of peaks were analyzed by magnitude.

단위전류당 고유량 유기용매 이송을 위한 다공성 실리콘막 전기침투 펌프의 개발 (Development of Porous Silicon Electro-osmotic Pumps for High Flow Rate Per Current Flow Delivery of Organic Solvents)

  • 양극산화법과 DRIE 법으로 제작된 다공성 실리콘막을 이용하여 두 종류의 전기침투 펌프를 제작하였다. 펌프의 성능은 유기용매를 이용하여 유량과 단위전류당 유량으로 측정하였다. 두 종류 펌프 모두 기존의 다공성 유리막으로 제작된 전기침투 펌프보다 성능이 우월했다. 특히 DRIE 법으로 제작된 다공성 실리콘막은 유량과 단위전류당 유량이 모두 월등한 성능을 보였다. DRIE 법은 널리 알려진 방법이기에 이와 같이 제작된 펌프는 다양한 응용 분야에 비교적 쉽게 적용될 것으로 기대된다.

마이크로채널 방열블럭의 최적설계 (Optimum Design of Microchannel Heat Sinks)

  • In present study a methodology has been developed and applied for the optimum design and performance evaluation of microchannel heat sinks. The optimum design parameters include channel number and fin thickness. For a trial model of 127mm in length, 52.5mm in width, 16mm in height and 2.5mm in base thickness, the optimum channel number and the fin thinckness have been determined to be of 194 and 0.08359mm, respectively in laminar flow region. Performance of the optimally designed microchannel heat sinks has been compared with those having 50% and 150% of the number of channels. The results showed that the 50% and 150% designs increased the pumping power by 200% and 150%, respectively.

터보분자펌프의 성능해석에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A numerical study of the performance of a turbomolecular pump)

  • In the free molecular flow range, the pumping performance of a turbomolecular pump has been predicted by calculation of the transmission probability which employs the integral method and the test particle Monte-Carlo method. Also, new approximate method combining the double stage solutions, so called double-approximation, is presented here. The calculated values of transmission probability for the single stage agree quantitatively with the previous known numerical results. For a six-stage pump, the Monte-Carlo method is employed to calculate the overall transmission probability for the entire set of blade rows. When the results of the approximate method combining the single stage solutions are compared with those of the Monte-Carlo method at dimensionless blade velocity ratio C=0.4, the previous known approximate method overestimates as much as 34% than does the Monte-Carlo method. But, the new approximate method gives more accurate results, whose relative error is 10% compared to the Monte-Carlo method, than does the previous approximate method.

  • Compression pressure of individual cylinder and valve timing have big influence on combustion pressure, indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP), emission, vibration, combustion noise and many other combustion parameters. Conventional method, however, to check compression pressure uniformity is done by mechanical pressure gage and valve timing is checked manually. This conventional method causes inaccuracy of cylinder pressure measurement because of different cranking speed results from battery status and temperature. Also to check valve timing, related FEAD parts should be disassembled and timing mark should be checked. This study describes and suggests new methodology to measure compression pressure by analysis of start motor current and to check valve timing by cylinder pressure with high accuracy. Results, it is found that detection of bulky as well as small leaky cylinder is possible by cranking motor current analysis and wrong valve timing can be detected by cylinder pressure analysis and cam and crank sensor signal.

연비향상을 위한 하이브리드 엔진 시스템 모델 개발과 최적화에 관한 연구 (Development and Optimization of the Hybrid Engine System Model to Improve the Fuel Economy)

  • The purpose of this study is development of universal engine model for integrated Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) simulator and a optimization of engine model. The engine model of this study is based on the MATLAB Simulink for universal and include engine fuel economy technologies for HEV. Various engine fuel economy technologies for HEV is estimated by commercial engine 1-D simulation program - WAVE. And, the 1-D simulation model of base version is compared with engine experiment result. The analyzed engine technologies with 1-D simulation are Dual-CVVT, Atkinson-Cycle and Cylinder-Deactivation System. There are improvement of fuel economy and power performance with Dual-CVVT model at part load and full load, pumping loss reduction with Cylinder-Deactivation System at idle and regeneration. Each estimated technologies are analyzed by 1-D simulation on all operation region for base data to converse simulink. The simulink based engine model maintains a signal with ECU for determination of engine operation point.

확대 채널에서 리브 배열이 열전달에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Rib Arrangement on Heat Transfer in the Divergent Channel)

  • The effects of the different rib geometries such as V-shaped continuous (case A), parallel broken (case B), and V-shaped broken (case C) ribs on the heat transfer and pressure drops in a divergent channel with $45^{\circ}$ inclined ribs on one wall or two walls are checked out. The top and bottom walls are adiabatic; two side walls are uniformly heated in the divergent rectangular channel. The tested Reynolds numbers are ranged from 22,000 to 75,000. The channel with two opposite walls inclined only has the length of test section of 1 m and the channel divergence ratio of $D_{ho}/D_{hi}=1.49$, corresponding to $1.43^{\circ}$ inclined walls. The results show in the identical pumping power that the V-shaped continuous rib (case A) with two ribbed walls is the greatest, but the parallel broken rib (case B) with one ribbed wall is the worst in the thermal performance.

국내 평가 가이드 라인 제시를 위한 전동식 부항기의 특성 조사에 관한 연구 (Study of Mechanical Characteristics of Electric Cupping Apparatus in Korea for Suggestion of its Assessment Guideline)

  • Objectives : The mechanical properties of Korean electric cupping systems are studied via experimental measurements. The study aimed at establishing the fundamentals of industrialization and systemization of oriental medicine device industry, as well as improving the quality of life for many Koreans. Methods : We reviewed the studies on traditional cupping as well as modern one to fine necessary factors for electric cupping systems. To characterize the mechanical properties of Korean electric cupping systems, we measured the pressure characteristics of commercially available electric cupping system by using an automatic pressure acquisition system and a standard cup. The pumping capability was checked at 40 seconds, and the stability of the suction cup was checked at 600 seconds. We also acquired the noise level of each system in clinical setting. To check the portability of each system, we also measured its physical dimensions. We scrutinized system manuals provided by the system manufacturers. Results : It took less than 5 second to reach the pressure if the connection between the air hose and the vacuum valve of the cupping system was secure. Pressure diminished to no more than 10% for 600s for all systems. Noise levels were 55~70 dB. Increase in pressure was too fast to control for a designated vacuum level except for one product. Conclusions : The Pumping ability of the systems is impressive and reliable. Pressure retention ability of each cup is quite reliable and reproducible. Therefore, their mechanical performances were worthy of recommendation. Some of them had noise level higher than 60 dB and they were bothersome. It was also suggested that the control for low to middle pressure needed to be accomplished by the cupping system.

공기 기인 소음 분석과 음향 인텐시티법을 이용한 타이어에 의한 실내 소음 예측 (Prediction of Interior Noise Caused by Tire Based on Sound Intensity and Acoustic Source Quantification)

  • Tire noise is divided into a road noise(structure-borne noise) and a pattern noise(air-borne noise). Whilst the road noise is caused by the structural vibration of the components on the transfer path from tire to car body, the pattern noise is generated by the air-pumping between tire and road. In this paper, a practical method to estimate the pattern noise inside a passenger car is proposed. The method is developed based on the sound intensity and airborne source quantification. Sound intensity is used for identifying the noise sources of tire. Airborne source quantification is used for estimating the sound pressure level generated by each noise source of a tire. In order to apply the airborne source quantification to the estimation of the sound pressure, the volume velocity of each source should be obtained. It is obtained by using metrics inverse method. The proposed method is successfully applied to the evaluation of the interior noises generated by four types of tires with different pattern each other.
