A Study on Selecting Criteria of Working Fluid in Loop Heat Pipes with a Circular Plate Type Evaporator

  • increased heat dissipation and higher heat density of electronic equipment and/or parts released. A loop heat pipe(LHP) has been payed closer attention to the potential candidate of an electronic cooling. As of the LHP with a circular plate type evaporator developed, this study focused on its operating characteristics on the steady state in accordance with charging different working fluid. The relationship between working fluid and operating characteristics is discussed.

Effects of internal damping on the bending vibration characteristics of composite drive shaft

  • This paper researched on the bending vibration characteristics of composite drive shaft with internal damping. To analyze the unbalanced excitation response in full speed range, a transfer matrix model was built based on the improved Layer-wise theory and the numerical damping, and compared with the metal drive shaft. The results show that the effect of internal damping of the composite shaft tube on bending vibration response was different in the subcritical, critical and supercritical speed ranges. Then, the finite element analysis and vibration tests were carried out to verify the analysis results of transfer matrix model.

나노클레이/에폭시 나노-복합재료의 기계적 및 흡습 특성에 관한 연구 (Study of Mechanical and Hygroscopic Characteristics of Nanoclay/Epoxy Nanocomposites)

  • 본 연구에서는 나노클레이 함량에 따른 나노클레이-에폭시 나노복합재료의 흡습 특성 및 기계적 특성을 실험을 통해 분석하였다. 나노복합재료의 흡습 시험, 인장시험 및 접착조인트를 나노클레이 함량에 따라 구성하였으며 이를 통해 수분 포화도, 수분 확산 계수, 인장 강도 및 접착 강도와 같은 특성을 파악 할 수 있었다. 또한 나노클레이 및 에폭시 재료를 분자단위로 모델링하여 재료의 흡습 특성변화의 매커니즘을 분석할 수 있는 분자동역학 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며 그 결과를 실험결과와 비교하여 고찰하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 분자동역학 시뮬레이션 기법은 흡습특성의 변화를 성공적으로 예측할 수 있었으며, 추후 다른 나노-복합재료의 연구에도 널리 활용될 것이라 기대된다.

공작기계용 HP Holder 분사노즐 유동특성에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of the Flow Characteristics of High-Pressure Injection Nozzle for Machine Tools)

  • 본 연구에서는 절삭가공 시 생산성 향상을 위해 사용되는 고압분사 홀더(hp holder)에 들어가는 노즐의 유동특성을 파악하였다. 집중형의 노즐 분사형태를 유지하면서 분사되는 유동에 영향을 주는 설계인자로 입구 유입속도, 노즐 유입각도, 노즐 출구직경을 설정하여 이에 대한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 입구 유입속도가 높을수록, 노즐 출구직경이 작을수록 분사되는 유체의 압력과 속도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 노즐 유입각도의 경우에는 각도변화에 따른 유동특성의 차이가 크지 않았지만 약 $15^{\circ}$일 때가 가장 높은 유동특성을 보였다. 또한 결과값을 이용하여 분사되는 유체의 힘에 의해 가공 시 발생하는 칩의 제거 가능 여부를 확인해 보았다.

Steady-Flow Characteristics and Its Influence on Spray for Direct Injection Diesel Engine

  • Flow and spray characteristics are critical factors that affect the performance and exhaust emissions of a direct injection diesel engine. It is well known that the swirl control system is one of the useful ways to improve the fuel consumption and emission reduction rate in a diesel engine. However, until now there have only been a few studies on the effect of flow on spray. Because of this, the relationship between the flow pattern in the cylinder and its influence on the behavior of the spray is in need of investigation. First, in-cylinder flow distributions for 4-valve cylinder head of DI (Direct Injection) Diesel engine were investigated under steady-state conditions for different SCV (Swirl Control Valve) opening angles using a steady flow rig and 2-D LDV (Laser Doppler Velocimetry). It was found that swirl flow was more dominant than that of tumble in the experimented engine. In addition, the in-cylinder flow was quantified in terms of swirl/tumble ratio and mean flow coefficient. As the SCV opening angle was increased, high swirl ratios more than 3.0 were obtained in the case of SCV -70° and 90°. Second, spray characteristics of the intermittent injection were investigated by a PDA (Phase Doppler Anemometer) system. A Time Dividing Method (TDM) was used to analyze the microscopic spray characteristics. It was found that the atomization characteristics such as velocity and SMD (Sauter Mean Diameter) of the spray were affected by the in-cylinder swirl ratio. As a result, it was concluded that the swirl ratio improves atomization characteristics uniformly.

인산화 전분 ER 유체의 트라이볼로지 특성 (Tribological Characteristics of Phosphorated Starch Based Electrorheological Fluid)

  • This experimental study presents tribological characteristics under boundary lubrication contacts associated with electrorheolocal (ER) fluid. ER fluid is prepared by using phosphorated starch particles and silicone oil. Experimental apparatus of tribological tester is designed and constructed to evaluate tribological characteristics of pin specimens. Wear tests under boundary lubrication of ER fluid are experimentally performed under consideration of several operational factors such as normal load, sliding distance, sliding speed and specimen materials: steel, copper and aluminum. After wear test, microscopic surface changes of the worn pin specimens are analyzed in order to investigate measured wear characteristics by using the scanning electron microscope (SEM) as well as surface profilometer. In addition, the chemical wear characteristics are investigated by using energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Moreover, friction coefficient measurements under different materials of pin specimens are conducted for the tribological investigations. In order to verify the effect of starch phosphate particles in ER fluid, the wear test results with ER fluid are compared with test results with only silicone oil. The results clearly present that the phosphorated starch based ER fluid shows the stabilized wear as well as friction characteristics after run-in operations, but the wear rate under ER fluid is increased.

견직물의 역학적 성질과 색채 특성을 이용한 촉감각/감성 이미지 예측모델 (Prediction Models for Tactile Sensation/Sensibility Image of Silk Fabrics by Mechanical Properties and Color Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 견직물의 색채 특성이 촉감각/감성 이미지에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고 견직물의 역학적 성질과 색채 특성을 이용한 촉감각/감성 이미지 예측모델을 제안하고자 하였다. 연구결과로서 무채색과 유채색 견직물 모두 견직물의 역학적 성질이 기본적으로 촉감각/감성 이미지에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 '매끄럽다', '하늘하늘하다', '독특하다', '두껍다', '뻣뻣하다', '전원적이다', '캐주얼하다', '내추럴하다', '모던하다'는 무채색과 유채색에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 특히 '두껍다'와 '뻣뻣하다'는 견직물이 Red 또는 Green 색상일 때, 그리고 pale 또는 vivid 색조일 때 무채색일 때보다 더 강하게 인지되었고, '전원적이다'와 '캐주얼하다'는 Green 색상의 견직물과 pale 또는 vivid 색조의 견직물에서 무채색 견직물에서보다 더 강하게 느껴지는 경향이어서, 견직물의 색채가 주관적 촉감각/감성에 영향을 줄 수 있음을 시사하였다. 마지막으로 역학적 성질과 색채 특성을 함께 설명변수로 이용한 예측모델을 수립하여 제안하였다.

보일러 급수 펌프용 미케니컬 페이스 실의 정특성 해석 (Static Characteristic Analysis of Mechanical Face Seal Used for Boiler Feedwater Pump)

  • Mechanical face seal installed in boiler feedwater pump prevents leakage of working fluid using thin fluid film between stator and rotor. If the leakage of working fluid exceeds the allowable volume, serious malfunction of boiler feedwater pump will be happen. The thinner fluid film exists between stator and rotor, the less working fluid leaks out. However, if the thickness of fluid film is not enough, the wear of seal face will be increased. And it causes the decrease in life of mechanical face seal. Therefore appropriate design is necessary to maximize the performance and life of mechanical face seal. In this study, numerical analysis using finite volume method was conducted to investigate the static characteristics of wavy mechanical face seals which have 4 different wavy surface profiles on rotor. As a result, opening force, leakage volume of working fluid and friction torque were obtained. For the same minimum film thickness, the static characteristics of mechanical face seal were affected by the wavy surface profile which can change the thickness of working fluid film and pressure distribution.

연마불균일도에 영향을 미치는 패드 표면특성에 관한 연구 (The Effect of Pad Surface Characteristics on Within Wafer Non-uniformity in CMP)

  • We have investigated the effect of the pad surface characteristics such as roughness, groove density and wear of pad on within wafer non-uniformity(WIWNU) in chemical mechanical polishing(CMP). We found that WIWNU increases as pad surface roughness($R_{pk}$; Reduced peak height) increases in an early stage of polishing. But after polishing time goes to a certain extent, WIWNU decreases as uniformity of pad surface roughness. Also, groove of pad has effect on relative pad stiffness although original mechanical properties of pad are unchanged by grooving. WIWNU decreases as relative pad stiffness decreases. In addition, conditioning process causes non-uniform wear of pad during in CMP. The profile of pad wear has a significant effect on WIWNU.

  • A research fur development of composite body panel is in progress for lightening tare. In this study, experiments on estimation of mechanical properties of LPMC (Low pressure molding compound) including fatigue and impact characteristics were carried out. The experiments show that LPMC satisfied basic requirements of car body panel. The fatigue life of LPMC was predicted and the material degradation due to fatigue and impact were fined out.
