  • Recently, the rapid change in the technical environment and under global competition, there has been an increasing attention to the creativity among core competency of organization. Particularly, creativity is an initiative for technological innovations and a primary key factor to the success. Systematic understanding towards creativity is required to derive sophisticated creativity. However, previous researches involved in only one or two elements of creativity made it difficult to understand the holistic relations. Furthermore, the objective measurement tool of creativity is insufficient. Therefore, this study analyzes creativity from each level and clarifies the elements that can coordinately measure that. First, the study suggests three levels that compose creativity. Second, the study not only clarifies the factors influencing creativity from each level but also develops the evaluation index. The creativity level assessment model proposed in the study is capable of providing a guide-line that evaluates, and therefore enhance, the organization's competencies and potentials of creativity.

  • Organizational change is an important organizational phenomenon that can determine the survival and failure of an organization. Organizational effort to respond actively to the pressures surrounding an organization is regarded as a core decision-making area of the organization. Indeed, a variety of efforts have been made to achieve organizational change, with separate academic disciplines such as organizational development and organizational change being established and presented in various organizational change phase models. However, despite these efforts to lead organizational change, success rate of it is only 20% to 25% and most of it fails. One of the key issues pointed out in the various studies that have identified the causes of organizational change failures is the degree of readiness for organizational change. In this regard, readiness for organizational change is regarded to be essential to ensure achievement of organizational change. Prior to increase readiness for organizational change, precise measure the organizational readiness of the current organization is required. By measuring it, organization can identify the areas that need to be supplemented and fulfilled to introduce and implement organizational change. The goal of this research is to review the developed scales for measuring organizational change readiness and to grasp the overall characteristics of them, by dividing into technical characteristics and psychometric properties. To review the scales, a systematic literature review on the studies was conducted.Review indicated that the existing scales were limited to the specific dimension in the conceptual realm of organizational change readiness. In addition, psychometric properties also showed low reliability and validity. Therefore, when measuring the organizational readiness level for domestic organizations, it is necessary to use a scale with a relatively high psychometric basis while pre-specifying the measurement domain (psychological dimension/structure dimension) in advance. In addition, it is required to develop a scale of organizational change readiness in the context of domestic organization with high reliability and validity basis, while taking into consideration the comprehensive concept of organizational change readiness which is being discussed recently.

  • BACKGROUND: This study aimed to estimate the measurement uncertainty associated with determination of cadmium and lead from tomato paste by ICP/MS. The sources of measurement uncertainty (i.e. sample weight, final volume, standard weight, purity, molecular weight, working standard solution, calibration curve, recovery and repeatability) in associated with the analysis of cadmium and lead were evaluated. METHODS AND RESULTS: The guide to the expression of uncertainty was used for the GUM (Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement) and Draft EURACHEM/CITAC (EURACHEM: A network of organization for analytical chemistry in Europe/Co-Operation on International Traceability in Analytical Chemistry) Guide with mathematical calculation and statistical analysis. The uncertainty components were evaluated by either Type A or Type B methods and the combined standard uncertainty were calculated by statistical analysis using several factors. Expected uncertainty of cadmium and lead was 0.106±0.015 mg/kg (k=2.09) and 0.302±0.029 mg/kg (k=2.16), on basis of 95% confidence of Certified Reference Material (CRM) which was within certification range of 0.112±0.007 mg/kg for cadmium (k=2.03) and 0.316±0.021 mg/kg for lead (k=2.01), respectively. CONCLUSION(s): The most influential components in the uncertainty of heavy metals analysis were confirmed as recovery, standard calibration curve and standard solution were identified as the most influential components causing uncertainty of heavy metal analysis. Therefore, more careful consideration is required in these steps to reduce uncertainty of heavy metals analysis in tomato paste.

  • Rapid expansion has taken place in development of cooperative arrangements among libraries, in computerization, mechanization, and centralization of library services; in sizes of collections; and in the variety of services offered by libraries. These increasing complexities of library organizational arrangements and expansions in activities and services make it all the more important for libraries to define their objectives clearly and to have methods for measuring the level of attainment of these objectives. Libraries, as all other institutions and organizations, are faced with the economic problem of allocating their limited resources in such a manner as to generate maximum benefits and calculating the costs of a library. Furthermore, they should be able to measure their performance or degree of achievement of objectives. In order to it, it is essential to set a standard and review the time and motion study. This study is an attempt to build a general standard applicable to Korean university libraries to provide a persuasive basis to university library administrators in their work management: The usefulness of this study are given below. (1) It helps to balance available resources with estimated workload. (2) It helps in managing a library more efficiency and more economically (3) It helps in objective evaluation of individual employee performance and in evaluation of the organization as a whole. (4) It helps the librarian plan for financial and personnel needs on the basis of sound production figures.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the current status of work-related back pain among nurses in the U.S. Method: Literature review and website searching were conducted. Key words as 'nurse and back pain (or back injury)' were used in searching the Medline, NIOSHTIC-2and reference list of selected studies. Total studies were selected of which subjects were nurses working in the U.S., and published since 1970. Results: Though there was variation in the measurement among studies, the prevalence rate of back pain among nurses in the U.S. could be estimated about 50%. Risk factors were confirmed as the frequency of patient lifting, ward, nursing shortage, overtime, work shift, stress on physical demand, but age and work experiences showed the inconsistent relation. It has been well known that educational approach is not enough to prevent back pain. Intervention studies to apply the ergonomic approach using mechanical devices reported the effects, but the devices were less diverse than European countries or Canada. The study for lifting team was rare. Federal government developed only the guideline for nursing home that had no legal obligation. As a professional nursing organization, ANA has been trying to educate and advocate for "No lift policy" since 2003. Meanwhile, two trade unions of nurses made efforts to establish the law strengthening the responsibility of health care facilities. Conclusion: The research and policy development will be needed to prepare to rapid increase of back pain among Korean nurses.
