  • Since the high readable source codes help us to understand and modify the program, it is much easy to maintain them. The readability of source code is not only affected by the complexity of algorithms such as control structures but also affected by the coding styles such as naming and indentation. Although various coding standards have been presented for promoting the readability of source codes, it has been usually lost or ignored in a programming course. One of the reasons is that the coding standard is not a hard-and-false rule since it does not contribute to the performance of software. In this paper, we propose a simple automatic system, namely StyleJigsaw, which checks the style of the source codes written by C/C++ or Java. In this system, the coding style score is calculated and visualized as a jigsaw puzzle. To measure the educational effectiveness of StyleJigsaw, several experiments have been conducted on a class students in C++ programming course. According to the experimental results, the coding style score increased about 8.0 points(10.9%) on average using StyleJigsaw. Further, according to a questionnaire survey targeting the students who attended the programming course, about 88.5% of the students responded that StyleJigsaw was of help to learn the coding standards. We expect that the StyleJigsaw can be effectively used to encourage the students to obey the coding standards, resulting in high readable programs.

  • With recent innovations in the ICT industry, the demand for wearable sensing devices to recognize and respond to biological signals has increased. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) spacer fabric was embedded in a single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) dispersive solution through a simple penetration process to develop a monolayer piezoresistive pressure sensor. To induce electrical conductivity in the 3D spacer fabric, samples were immersed in the SWCNT dispersive solution and dried. To determine the electrical properties of the impregnated specimen, a universal testing machine and multimeter were used to measure the resistance of the pressure change. Moreover, to examine the changes in the electrical properties of the sensor, its performance was evaluated by varying the concentration, number of penetrations, and thickness of the specimen. Samples that penetrated twice in the SWCNT distributed solution of 0.1 wt% showed the best performance as sensors. The 7-mm thick sensors showed the highest GF, and the 13-mm thick sensors showed the widest operating range. This study confirms the effectiveness of the simple process of fabricating smart textile sensors comprising 3D spacer fabrics and the excellent performance of the sensors.

  • Today’s teenagers were significantly deficient of calcium intakes, taking on the average only 55.4 percents of the recommended. Milk was the major source of calcium intakes, and therefore the school milk program need to be readdressed to remedy this problem. However, school milk program(SMP) was said to be simply the substitute for milk at home, so that no more than a minimal effect on total milk consumption be warranted. This Study aimed to find out whether or not the school milk program was an effective measure to increase teenager’s milk consumption and explored the relation between school milk and total milk consumption for 1,079 junior and senior high school students who were surveyed by questionnaire from 15th June to 15th July in 2006. A Tobit model was used for the statistical analysis. In this model, we first regressed milk consumption on 5 variables i.e. degree of satisfaction, participation in SMP, sex, school, region. But the variable region was not significant statistically. Then we regressed on 4 variables except for region. The results showed 4 variables were all significant and the marginal effect of variable ‘participation in SMP’ was 1.3. Especially, the marginal effect 1.3 means that the students participating in the school milk program consumed 1.3cups more than the non-participants, which indicated the effectiveness of school milk program to improve the calcium deficiency program of teenagers.

  • Adult male rats were exposed to a whole body with a single dose of 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0 Gy. The animals were sacrificed 48, 72, 96 and 216 hours following exposure. A competitive enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) with antigen immobilized on the solid phase has been developed to measure ceruloplasmin in rat serum and complete dose response curves. Ceruloplasmin was purified from the plasma of turpentine treated male rats. Coating of ceruloplasmin had more effectiveness in 10 mM Tris-HCI, 150 mM sodium chloride, pH 7.4 than in 50 mM carbonate/bicarbonate buffer, pH 9.6. The coating range for ceruloplasmin was $70{\sim}140ng$/well. Levels of ceruloplasmin increased to maximum on the $72{\sim}96$ hours after irradiation. Slope of between response and dose was greatest value 96 hours following irradiation. Normal ceruloplasmin levels were not recorded 216 hours following exposure. In 0.1 Gy irradiated group, levels of ceruloplasmin also increased to maximum on the $72{\sim}96$ hours following irradiation. The concentration of this protein remained significantly different from control value, 196 hours after exposure. Ceruloplasmin was identified as one of the major acute phase protein following irradiation and further studies about gene expression and regulation would be necessary for radiation protection.

  • This paper suggests a genuine method to estimate the agglomeration effects of Industrial Cluster focusing on the FOODPOLIS (KOREA NATIONAL FOOD CLUSTER). In this study, we will focus on two issues related to the clustering effect. First, Clusters affect productivity, and a cluster allows companies to operate more productively in inputs; accessing technology, human resource, information, services, and needed institutions. Second, we assume that the effects of Industrial Cluster can be estimated from measurement on differency of an added value between large-scale enterprises and smaller ones. To demonstrate effectiveness of this approach, the estimated effect was compared with that from the related study (A Mini-Cluster). Industry Clusters have been considered as critical factors for regional competitiveness and economic revitalization. For this, the government and local government should find a way and strategy to provide useful contents that can attract the participation of firms and to secure strategic positioning and competition strategies.

  • Recently, Korean medium-sized medical organizations require innovative strategies. Network-driven concerns in Korean medical organization have been a front burner issue to enhance economic and managerial efficiencies. Effective network-driven collaboration depends upon effective processes and economics strategies among medical providers group. From this motivation, we studied and provided the systems' theoretical background and networked hospital system structures. The aim of suggested research model in this paper is to overcome demerit of stand-alone medium-sized hospitals and analyze a system dynamics model to measure managerial performances. The developed system dynamics model is to quantify the effects of network strategy based on the historical financial data of real-life hospitals network experiences. The network effects are resulted in efficiencies and effectiveness enhancements in competitiveness through advertisement and effective education system. The simulations of system dynamics results can explain the improvement in financial outcome by joining in the network group. The network effects are shown more effective in dental hospital than other groups. In conclusion, it is expected that network effects have a critical influence of managerial, marketing, and medical collaboration performance for any type of medical hospitals.

  • This paper studies the contribution of imports and inward foreign direct investment (FDI) as a vehicle of technology transfer onto the EU new member states at both macroeconomic and industry level. The paper takes the effectiveness of the recipient's utilization into account by constructing a new index, the so-called Effective Absorption (EA) Index, to measure ability to absorb and utilize the foreign technology in the recipient country. Using data from 12 donors and 10 recipients from 1998 to 2009, the study at macroeconomic level indicates that technical spillovers of foreign research and development (R&D) play more crucial role relatively to domestic R&D on total factor productivity (TFP) growth of the new member states. Imports are found as the major vehicle of technical spillovers rather than inward FDI. The study at industry level is conducted by using data from 17 manufacturing industries of 10 donors and 6 recipients during 1998 to 2009. The empirical results also support the findings at country level. The patterns of technology transfer are different across industries. Nonetheless, technical spillovers exhibit significantly high contribution on TFP growth in high-tech manufacturing industries.

  • In order to successfully adopt and implement the Balanced Scorecard(BSC), firms need to respond adequately to the rapid changes of today's business environment and consider the growing importance of non financial factors in the business activities such as intangible assets(R&D expenditure, patent, goodwill, etc.). Our primary focus throughout this paper is on developing Key Performance Index(KPI) of BSC for R&D expenditure activities. In this study, we have developed and named PEI(Patent Efficiency Index),which is the KPI for R&D expenditure by focusing on the efficiency of a patent that is the output from the R&D expenditures. Secondarily, we have attempted to address the solution for the current problems of the traditional R&D performance measurement by using our developed PEI and examine the usefulness and effectiveness of the newly developed our PEI. According to the empirical test results, we find that the PEI is positively associated with ROA and Tobin's Q, respectively and show that our developed PEI is more effective and accurate than the traditional R&D performance measurement as a business performance measurement. Furthermore, these findings proves that we can measure and evaluate how efficiently the firms perform the R&D activities and shows that the PEI can be a critical index for evaluating firm's business performance related to the R&D expenditures.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of horticultural activities program for 4th grade nursing students' emotional intelligence and stress coping. The study method was a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Participants were recruited with 4th grade nursing students from two nursing colleges. They were assigned to the experimental group (n=29) or the control group (n=30) using a computerized blocked randomization. Horticultural activities program was consisted of 10 sessions which were 2 times a week for 80 mins at each session during 5 weeks. Pretest and posttest were used to measure emotional intelligence and stress coping using the same structured questionnaires. Data was analyzed using frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, Fisher's exact test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, independent t-test and paired t-test. The result showed a significant difference that the experimental group's emotional intelligence(t=-3.33, p=.002) and stress coping(t=-2.35, p=.023) score was higher than the control group's. The results of this study suggests that the horticultural activities program is effective in terms of emotional intelligence and stress coping for $4^{th}$ grade nursing students.
