Organic acids-eggshell calcium salts were prepared to recycle calcium component from discarded egg shells, and the effects of addition of the salts on dough characteristics of raw noodle and physical properties of cooked noodle were also investigated. Based on Farinograms, calcium malate (CM) affected absorption, stability time, and development time more considerably than calcium citrate (CC). Maximum concentrations of both CM and CC with little influence on dough characteristics were found to be 0.1% and 0.4%, respectively. Addition of calcium salts led to reduce the volume expansion rate of cooked noodle and this was more clearly shown in a sample fortified with CM than CC. As for CC, addition of more than 0.6% resulted in rapid increase in springiness which was in a good agreement with sensory evaluation results. Calcium ion concentration of cooked noodle fortified with 0.4% CC was 48 ppm, equivalent to 86 mg of calcium obtained from 200 g of cooked noodle.
A bioequivalence study of LANIDIEM$^{(R)}$ tablet 4 mg (Samil. Co., Ltd.) to Vaxar$^{(R)}$ tablet 4 mg (GlaxoSmithKline Co., Ltd.) was conducted according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Forty healthy male Korean volunteers were enrolled in the study and thirty six volunteers completed the study according to the protocol. Thirty six volunteers received each medicine at the lacidipine dose of 4 mg in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was one week wash-out period between the doses. Plasma concentrations of lacidipine were monitored by a high performance liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for over a period of 24 hours after drug administration. $AUC_t$ (the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to 24 hr) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal rule method. $C_{max}$ (maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ (time to reach $C_{max}$) were compiled from the plasma concentration-time data. Analysis of variance was carried out using logarithmically transformed $AUC_t$ and $C_{max}$. No significant sequence effect was found for all of the bioavailability parameters indicating that the crossover design was properly performed. The 90% confidence intervals of the $AUC_t$ ratio and the $C_{max}$ ratio for LANIDIEM$^{(R)}$/Vaxar$^{(R)}$ were log 0.8102~log 1.0417 and log 0.8493~log 1.1439, respectively. These values were within the acceptable bioequivalence intervals of log 0.80~log 1.25. Thus, our study demonstrated the bioequivalence of LANIDIEM$^{(R)}$ tablet 4 mg and Vaxar$^{(R)}$ tablet 4 mg with respect to the rate and extent of absorption.
To study the metabolism and absorption of endosulfan in carp, $^{14}C-{\alpha}-endosulfan$ was treated with the $LC_{10}$ concentration $(4.5\;{\mu}g/L)$. In an in vivo test, endosulfan was metabolized $(65{\sim}80%)$ in tissues and endosulfan ether, endosulfan alcohol, endosulfan ${\alpha}-hydroxyether$, and endosulfan lactone were identified, indicating that those are the main metabolites of detoxification in carp. The maximum levels of $^{14}C-endosulfan$ in the head, muscle, and gut occurred after 8 hr exposure. However, the maxima reached in the liver and kidneys after 30 min and 4 hr, respectively. Radioactivity in the tissue decreased rapidly 8 hr after treatment. The total amount of $^{14}C-endosulfan$ recovered in the liver, kidneys and gut of fish was about $80{\sim}90%$ during the 8 hr treatment. The non-extractable radioactivity increased after 8 hr exposure $(27{\sim}31%)$. Endosulfan sulfate, the main degradation product in plant and mouse, was not detected during the test interval from tissues of the carp.

BACKGROUND: There is very limited knowledge of the effects of biochar derived from exhausted coffee residue on metal adsorption processes. Furthermore, only limited information is available on the adsorption mechanism of copper. The aim of this study was to evaluate the absorption behaviors of copper by biochar derived from exhausted coffee residue. METHODS AND RESULTS: Biochars produced by pyrolysis of exhausted coffee residue at $300^{\circ}C$(CB300) and $600^{\circ}C$(CB600) were characterized and investigated as adsorbents for the removal of copper from aqueous solution. The results indicated that the adsorption equilibrium was achieved around 2 h and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model fit the data better than the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The maximum Cu adsorption capacities of CB600 by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms were higher than those of CB300. The adsorption data were well described by a Langmuir isotherm compare to Freundlich isotherm. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that exhausted coffee residue can be used as feedstock materials to produce high quality biochar, which could be used as adsorbents to removal copper.
CsI(Br) single crystals doped with 1, 3, 5 or 10 mole% $Br^-$ ions, as an activator, were grown by Czochralski method. The lattice structure of grown CsI(Br) single crystal was bcc and its lattice constant was $4.568\;{\AA}$. The absorption edge of the CsI(Br) single crystals was observed at 243 nm. The spectral range of the luminescence excited by 243 nm of wavelength was $300{\sim}600\;nm$, and its peak emission appeared at 440 nm. The luminescence intensity was maximum when CsI(Br) was doped with 3 mole % $Br^-$ ions. The energy resolutions of the CsI(Br) scintillator doped with 3 mole % $Br^-$ ions were 15.0% for $^{137}Cs$(662 keV), 13.1% for $^{54}Mn$(835 keV), and 18.0% and 6.3% for $^{22}Na$(511 keV and 1275 keV), respectively. The decay curves had fast and slow components, and the fast component was about 41 ns independent on the concentration of the $Br^-$ ions. The time resolution of CsI(Br) scintillators decreased with increasing of the concentration of $Br^-$ ions.
In this study, a new series of conjugated polymer 3-(5-(5,6-bis(octyloxy)-7-(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-10-(4-(octyloxy)phenyl)-10H-phenothiazine (P1) and 3-(5-(5,6-bis(octyloxy)-7-(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-10-(4-((2-ethylhexyl)oxy)phenyl)-10H-phenothiazine (P2) were synthesised and organic photovoltaics (OPVs) properties were characterized. The push-pull structure polymer consisted of phenothiazine derivative as an electron donor and benzothiadiazole derivative as an electron acceptor. The aliphatic chain substituted aromatic ring was substituted at the position of N in phenothiazine for the electron-rich and improved solubility. Excellent thermal stabilities of P1 and P2 were confirmed by measured Td values as 321.9 and $323.7^{\circ}C$, respectively and the degrees of polymerization were 4,911 (P1) and 5,294 (P2). The maximum absorption wavelength of P1 and P2 were 549 and 566 nm, respectively. The device was fabricated and the OPVs property was measured. As a result, the power efficiency of conversion for P1 and P2 were 0.96 and 0.90%, respectively.
This study was performed to evaluate the physicochemical and quality characteristics of bread with Enteromorpha intenstinalis added. In order to compare the physical and organoleptic properties, 1 to 4% of E. intenstinalis powder was mixed with the flour. Among the physical characteristics of the dough, the absorption ratio in the farinogram and the degree of attenuation increased with increasing amounts of E. intenstinalis powder, whereas the development time, dough stability, the degree of extension, the degree of resistance, and R/E became reduced. In the amylogram, there was no difference in the gelatinization starting temperature among the samples, but the maximum viscosity gradually increased according to increasing amounts of E. intenstinalis powder. Also, a sensory evaluation was carried out in terms of acceptability (color, flavor, moistness, tenderness, mouth feel, and overall acceptability). Taken together, the 2% treatment showed the highest evaluation values, as compared to the other treatments.

Porous concrete consists of cement, water and coarse aggregate and has been used for the purpose of decreasing the earth environmental load such as air and water permeability, sound absorption, etc. However, the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete changes due to compaction load during construction. For such a reason, the purpose of this study is to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete according to the kinds of binder, the ratio of water to binder and target void ratio. In particular, this study has been carried out to investigate the influence of compaction load on the void ratio, strength and coefficient of permeability. Aggregate used in this study are by-products generated during production of crushed gravel with a maximum size of 13mm. The results of this study showed that the target void ratio, the coefficient of permeability and compressive strength of porous concrete had a close relationship with the void ratio, and it will be possible that the void ratio is suggested by the mix design of porous concrete. The compressive strength of porous concrete was the highest at the content of the expansive admixture of 5% and compared to non-mixture, 10% mixture of silica fume improved compressive strength about 32%. And in the result of the study to change the compaction load, the compressive strength increased from the load of 15kN, the void ratio decreased from the load of 0.8kN, the coefficient of permeability decreased from the load 35kN, respectively.

An agrivoltaic systems (AVS) is mixed systems associating photovoltaic panels (PVPs) and crop cultivation at the same time on the given land area. It is receiving attention to improve rural economy. However, it is likely that, the crop yield should be decreased due to the reduced absorption of solar radiation by leaves. Thus, before popularizing the AVS, it is necessary to comprehend the degree of shading by PVPs in AVS. In this study, the change of radiation condition under AVS mimic shading net was investigated. The minimum and maximum of difference of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) between under and outside shading net were 3.03 mol/㎡/day on a cloudy day and 17.08 mol/㎡/day on a sunny day. This difference decreased when the ratio of diffuse irradiance to global irradiance increased. Such a shading effect resulted in the increase of rice height and decrease of rice tillering.
The antimicrobial substance produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa KLP-2 strain was purified and identified. The substance was identified as a pyocyanine by the fast atom bombardment mass(FAB-MS). In physic-chemical properties, the pyocyanine was dark blue needles, and was soluble in various organic solvents such as chlorogorm, methanol, ethanol and ethyl acetae. The pyocyanine possessed a ultraviolet absorbance spectrum in methanol, 0.1 M HCl, and chlorogorm. The maximum absorption peak of the pyocyanine showed at 318 mm in methanol. The molecular formula of the pyocyanine was determined to the $C_{13}$ H$_{10}$ N$_{2}$O and protonate molecular ion species (M+H)$^{+}$ was observed at m/z 211 by FAB-MS. The pyocyanine showed antimicrobial against Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Micrococcus luteus, Rodococcus equi, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, E. col, Legionella pneumophila, Shigella flexneri Shigella boydii, shgella sonnei, NAG Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibro vulnificus, Yersinia enterocolitica, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. However, Salmonella spp. Shigela dysenteriae, 3 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiela pneumoniae, and Aspergillus niger were resistant to the pyocyanine. The pyocyanine showed the highest antimicrobial activity aganist Legionella pneumophila based on the size of inhibition zone by the disk contained 0.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$ of the pyocyanine.e.
