Purpose: The aim of the present study was to invesitigate the impact of significant clinico-pathological prognostic factors on survival rates and to identify factors predictive of poor outcome in patients with ovarian carcinoma. Materials and Methods: A retrospective chart review of 74 women with pathologically proven ovarian carcinoma who were treated between January 2006 and April 2011 was performed. Patients were investigated with respect to survival to find the possible effects of age, gravida, parity, menstruel condition, pre-operative Ca-125, treatment period, cytologic washings, presence of ascites, tumor histology, stage and grade, maximal tumor diameter, adjuvan chemotherapy and cytoreductive success. Also 55 ovarian carcinoma patients were investigated with respect to prognostic factors for early 2-year survival. Results: The two-year survival rate was 69% and the 5-year survival rate was 25.5% for the whole study population. Significant factors for 2-year survival were preoperative CA-125 level, malignant cytology and FIGO clinical stage. Significant factors for 5-year survival were age, preoperative CA-125 level, residual tumor, lymph node metastases, histologic type of tumor, malignant cytology and FIGO clinical stage. Logistic regression revealed that independent prognostic factors of 5-year survival were patient age, lymph node metastasis and malignant cytology. Conclusions: We consider quality registries with prospectively collected data to be one important tool in monitoring treatment effects in population-based cancer research.
To evaluate the effect of dopaminergic activity on aldosterone secretion, the plasma renin activity, serum cortisol and aldosterone were measured by radioimmunoassay in 6 normal controls and 12 patients who had hyponatremia and generalized edema or ascites with possible condition with secondary aldosteronism before and after(15, 30, and 60 min) 15 mg of metoclopramide by iv bolus injection and same method with 500 mg of L-dopa by per oral in 6 normal controls and 12 patients with edema ascites. The result were as follows; 1) The basal level of PRA was higher in patients rather than normal controls but PRA was not influenced by MC or L-dopa administration on both normal controls and patients group. 2) The serum cortisol level was significantly elevated at 30 min after MC injection compared with basal level in normal controls but no significant change was noted in patients group. After L-dopa administration the serum cortisol level was not changed in both normal controls and patients group. 3) The serum aldosterone level was significantly elevated in 15, 30 and 60 min after MC injection in normal controls, and there also same tendency of aldosterone secretion was noticed in patients group. On the other hands, there was no changes in aldosterone level in both normal controls and patients group with L-dopa administration. Above result means that MC stimulate aldosterone secretion by dopaminergic antagonist and aldosterone secretion in normal subject is controlled by maximal tonic dopaminergic inhibition. In edematous patients, however, both of the dopaminergic inhibitory and stimulating effect of PRA, ACTH etc on the aldosterone secretion seems to be variable.
It has been reported that tight sportswear could have complicated influence on physiological function of human body. The purpose of this present study was to investigate the effect of wearing gradient compression tights (GCT) on muscle strength and EMG activity during repeated isokinetic muscle contractions. Four healthy male undergraduate students performed maximal voluntary isokinetic concentric muscle contractions on biomechanical test and training systems with GCT and loose pants as control (Cont) respectively. During each test, the peak torque of extensor and flexor contractions and the surface electromyography (sEMG) of the rectus femoris and medial gastrocnemius was recorded simultaneously, the peak torque was recorded as an indicator of muscle strength, and the average amplitude and mean power frequency of sEMG were calculated as indicators of EMG activity. The results showed that: the peak torque decreased gradually during continuous muscle contractions both when the Cont and GCT were worn, average sEMG and mean power frequency declined along with the repetitions of muscle contractions for both wearing conditions, and the change tendency was consistence with that of peak torque. There was no obvious difference between the peak torque recorded wearing the Cont or wearing GCT, but when GCT were worn, average sEMG was lower and mean power frequency was higher than the Cont condition. In 24 samples obtained from four subjects, 80% of results showed the same trend. So we could make a conclusion that wearing GCT had no obvious effect on the improvement of muscle strength, but it would affect the EMG activity positivly.
In this paper, we propose the interference probability according to distance between mobile stations and the maximal power of interfering transmitter as parameters which are used for analysis to co-exist in co-channel of different systems. In order to analyze interfering between each systems, we consider two cases. First, WiBro is an interfering transmitter and WLAN is a victim receiver. Second, WLAN is an interfering transmitter and WiBro is a victim receiver. When the interfering transmitter is WiBro or WLAN, interference probability according to distance between systems is analyzed by setting transmit power of 25 and 23 dBm, respectively. Analyzed coexistence results under various co-use scenarios may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.
A novel Chryseobacterium sp. JK1 strain producing extracellular protease had been isolated from soil. The largest clear zones were observed on nutrient agar plates supplemented with 1% skim milk at $30-35^{\circ}C$ along with the growth of Chryseobacterium sp. JK1. The cell growth of JK1 strain was maximal at 24 h and maximum protease activity was reached up to 560 unit/ml at the stationary phase in liquid culture. In the presence of maltose, glucose or mannitol in Nutrient broth, cells grew well, but protease were produced poorly with lower production yields of 64-77% than in NB broth only. Similarly, the addition of skim milk, beef extract, yeast extract, malt extract or tryptone showed good growth and poor enzyme production. On the contrary, the addition of $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ or $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ gave poor growth and good enzyme production of 121-146%.
Proteases are degradative enzymes which hydrolyze a peptide bond between amino acids and they are abundantly applied to commercial field. In order to investigate optimal medium compositions of carbon and nitrogen source for enzyme production, modified STY medium containing 0.15% yeast extract were used as basal medium. When galactose was used as carbon source, enzyme activity showed 1.3 higher than that of glucose. For nitrogen source addition of casamino acids to basal medium in place of tryptone showed lowest activity, whereas addition of malt extract showed maximal activity. The optimum temperature and pH of extracellular protease were found to be $35^{\circ}C$ an pH 8.5.

This paper investigates the influence on the aerodynamic performance of a passenger cruising very fast by some specific car body parts such as side mirrors, wheel arches and wheels designed hardly regarding aerodynamics. The magnitude of the contribution of each part is analyzed via on the CFD simulations. YF SONATA, a sedan of Hyundai Motors Company, plays a major role as the baseline car in this research, representing all passenger car. The CFD analysis condition consists of 6 different cases depending on whether each part exists or not. According to the CFD results, there were confirmed that additionally to the body parts' own drag, the car body went through somewhat the consequential increment of the drag by them. Among the 3 parts, wheel is the magnate that not only has the maximal drag but drives the drag of the passenger car to increase most steeply and the next is the side mirror.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of shoulder external rotation on muscle activities of the scapular upward rotators during arm elevation. METHODS: Nineteen healthy subjects with no medical history of shoulder pain or upper extremity disorders were recruited for this study. Electromyography (EMG) was used to measure the muscle activities of the serratus anterior (SA), upper trapezius (UP), lower trapezius (LT) and infraspinatus (IS) muscles during arm elevation. The EMG activities were recorded while the subjects performed $90^{\circ}$ arm elevation with three different arm positions; palm down (PD), neutral position (NP), and palm up (PU). While seated in a chair, the subject was asked to raise the upper extremity in the sagittal plane in random order. Subjects performed $90^{\circ}$ arm elevations in three trials at each arm position. The mean EMG activity normalized by the maximal voluntary isometric contraction was analyzed across three arm positions. Repeated measures one-way ANOVA and the post hoc Bonferroni tests were used to determine the differences in muscle activities among the three arm positions. RESULTS: The EMG activities of the SA and IS were significantly greater in the PU condition than in the other conditions during arm elevation. No significant difference was noted between the NP and PD conditions during arm elevation. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that shoulder external rotation (palm up position) can be used to activate the SA. Therefore, we recommend a scapular protraction exercise in the palm up position for strengthening the SA.
Cultural conditions for the biopolymer production by an alkali tolerant Bacillus sp. isolated from soil were investigated and determination of optimal conditions was carried out by response surface method. The maximal production of biopolymer was obtained after cultivation at $30^{\circ}C$ for 36hrs in the mixture of 8% soluble starch, 0.75% yeast extract, 0.1% $NaNO_3$, 0.05% $MgSO_4\;7H_2O$ and 1% $Na_2CO_3$ adjusted to pH 10. Under these conditions, about 44 g/l of biopolymer were produced. From the results of response surface analysis, optimal condition for the production of biopolymer were obtained at stationary point with 15.16 of C/N ratio, $34.62^{\circ}C$ of temperature and 9.50 of pH. On the basis of these conditions, it was estimated that 66.84 g/l of the biopolymer could be produced.
A bacterial strain, producing extracellular inulin fructotransferase which converts inulin into di-D-fructofuranose 1,2':2,3' dianhydride(DFA III), was isolated from soil and presumed as Bacillus sp.. The highest production of the enzyme was obtained by using medium containing Jerusalem artichoke extract as carbon source, peptone as organic nitrogen source, and $NH_4H_2PO_4$, as inorganic source. Under optimum condition, the enzyme activity of the culture broth supernatant reached maximal 2.61 units/ml after cultivation for 45 hrs.
