This article describes esthetic improvement in a patient with a missing maxillary left central incisor. Space analysis of the anterior dentition showed that minor tooth rearrangement was needed. Optimal space distribution for restorations was attained by orthodontic treatment. Through transforming tooth shape with porcelain laminate veneers, the maxillary left lateral incisor was transformed into central incisor and the maxillary left canine into a lateral incisor. The maxillary right central incisor was also restored for esthetic improvement. In a case of changing a tooth shape with porcelain laminate veneers, pre-treatment evaluation, space analysis and diagnostic wax-up are important factors.
Maxillary first molar is the key in normal occlusion. Mesial drifting of maxillary first molar result form early loss of second deciduous molar. Mesial drifted maxillary first molar was treated by headgear, Hawley appliance with screw, brasswire, etc. But, these appliance should be necessary for patients cooperation. Recently, several appliance for molar distalizing without patients cooperation has been introduced. We are reporting in this paper about distalizing of mesial drifted maxillary first molar because of early loss of deciduous second molar by open coil jig. Distalization of molar by open coil jig is predictable, rapid, painless method without mecesscity of patient cooperation.
This study was performed to observe the gross reactions of surrounding maxillary sutures to the widening of midpalatal suture in the dog. Three healthy dog were chosen for the experiment. One animal was used as control, and two were used as experimental animals. Midpalatal suture was expanded total 7mm with screw for 10 days. The following results were obtained : 1. Midpalatal suture was expanded with the most width, in which anterior was be more expanded than the posterior, and shape was wedge form. 2. Interincisive suture was definitely expanded. 3. Internasal suture and interfrontal suture were slightly expanded. 4. Expansion of frontomaxillary suture, frontoparietal suture, frontonasal suture, zygomatico temporal suture, zygomatico frontal suture, zygomatico maxillary suture, occipito mastoid suture, occipito parietal suture, naso incisive suture, naso maxillary suture, and incisive maxillary suture were not observed.

Reported cases of a large dentigerous cyst involving the whole maxillary sinus are uncommon. A 22-year-old female patient suffering from swelling of the right infraorbital area and cheek with dull pain was referred to our department. Findings on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a huge mass containing a displaced maxillary third molar involving the right maxillary sinus as a whole, with partial erosion of the posterior sinus cortical bone. Under general anesthesia, the mass was enucleated using the Caldwell-Luc approach, and, following histopathological analysis, was diagnosed as a dentigerous cyst. The case was followed for a period of seven years, and no evidence of sinus infection or recurring cyst formation was observed during that time.
This is a report of one case about facial asymmetry involving maxilla & mandible.
Le Fort I Maxillary Osteotomy & BSSRO is usually used for facial asymmetry patient involving maxilla & mandible. But Le Fort I Maxillary Osteotomy has demerits about more aggressive technique, more operation times, more discomforts of post operation nasal breathing than Unilateral maxillary Segmental Osteotomy.
So we treated one patient successfully using Unilateral Maxillary Segmental Osteotomy, BSSRO & Post - Operation Rapid Orthodontics instead of Le Fort I Maxillary Osteotomy.
To provide the wide and satisfactory surgical field is essential requirement for en-bloc resection of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma invading central skull base. The new design of the surgical approach to the skull base lesions was developed and described the details of this technique and its usefullness. We compared the usefullness of naso-maxillary approach to that of infratemporal fossa approach in cases of angiofibroma invading skull base. Our experience indicates that the naso-maxillary swing approach is better than lateral approach for the large nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. A new approach. naso-maxillary swing approach. is described.
Purpose : To evaluate the value of panoramic radiography in diagnosing maxillary sinus inflammation. Materials and Methods : A total of 214 maxillary sinuses from 114 panoramic radiographs were assessed in this study. Two independent experienced oral radiologists evaluated the images in random order for sinus inflammation. Using Cone beam CT images as the gold standard, the sensitivity and specificity of panoramic radiography were calculated, and inter- and intraobserver agreement for panoramic interpretation were obtained. Results : The mean sensitivity and specificity of panoramic radiography were 81.0% and 85.6%, respectively. The weighted kappas for inter- and intraobserver agreement of panoramic radiography were 0.56 and 0.60, respectively. Conclusion : Panoramic radiography is a reasonably accurate method for diagnosing maxillary sinus inflammation and can be used for screening. However, additional examinations should be considered in patients with potentially significant pathology. (Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol 2008; 38: 215-8)
178 naturally exfoliated maxillary deciduous central incisors, 149 deciduous lateral incisors of children at exfoliation stage were studied on the degree and the tendency of the root resorption, and the age of exfoliation of the deciduous central and lateral incisors. The results were as follows; 1. The root of maxillary deciduous central and lateral incisors tended to be resorbed disto-lingually. 2. The age of exfoliation of maxillary deciduous central incisor was 7.27 year in male, 7.01 year in female, and the age of exfoliation of maxillary deciduous lateral incisor was 8.22 year in male, 7.77 year in female. 3. The exfoliation age of maxillary deciduous central and lateral incisors was earlier in female than in male.
The distances from the center line between maxillary right and left central incisors(the dental midline) to the various anatomical landmarks were measured. Fifty five students(thirth four males and twenty one females) who have at least natural teeth including maxillary and mandibular incisors and bicuspids were examined. 1. There was statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the center line of maxillary labial frenum(p<0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the point of incisive papilla, philtrum line, the center line between two mandibular central incisors, and the median palatine suture line(p>0.05). 3. There was no statistically significant sexual difference among data. 4. The philtrum line showed the highest value of correspondence to the center line between two maxillary central incisors followed by the center point of incisive papilla, the center line of two mandibular central incisors, median plaltine suture line and the center line of maxillary labial frenum at the decreasing rate.
A case of Aged 37, Female involving Odontogenic Maxillary Sinusitis I left maxillae Caine, premolars and molars region. patients complained Dull pain of Caine, premolars and molars upper left side of Face. Clinical finding was swelling, Dull pain sensitivity of Caine, premolars and molars, pus discharge in nasal cavity Involved in Caine, premolars and molars to Antrum. Roentgenographic examination was Caine, premlars and molars involved in maxillary sinus in left side and Radiopaque in same Antrm. This underwent caldwell-Lue approach the Extracted Caine, premolars and molars and Curettage maxillary sinus walls and Closed primary sutured under Diagnosis of Odontogenic maxillary Sinusitis and Therapeutic principles. Patients had healed Completely one year after operation and no complaints and no Oro-Antral fistula.
