  • In this paper, nonlinear vibration behaviors of multi-phase Magneto-Electro-Elastic (MEE) doubly-curved nanoshells have been studied employing Jacobi elliptic function method. The doubly-curved nanoshell has been modeled by using nonlocal elasticity and classic shell theory. An exact estimation of nonlinear vibrational behavior of smart doubly-curved nanoshell has been obtained via Jacobi elliptic function method. This method can incorporate the influences of higher order harmonics leading to an exact estimation of nonlinear vibration frequency. It will be indicated that nonlinear vibrational frequency of doubly-curved nanoshell relies on nonlocal effect, material composition, curvature radius, center deflection and electro-magnetic field.

  • In this article, the semi-analytical method was used to analyze the nonlinear dynamic stability and vibration analysis of sandwich shallow spherical shells (SSSS). The SSSS was considered as functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composites (FG-CNTRC) with three new patterns of FG-CNTRC. The governing equation was obtained and discretized utilizing the Galerkin method by implementing the von Kármán-Donnell nonlinear strain-displacement relations. The nonlinear dynamic stability was analyzed by means of the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. Then the Budiansky-Roth criterion was employed to obtain the critical load for the dynamic post-buckling. The approximate solution for the deflection was represented by suitable mode functions, which consisted of the three modes of transverse nonlinear oscillations, including one symmetrically and two asymmetrical mode shapes. The influences of various geometrical characteristics and material parameters were studied on the nonlinear dynamic stability and vibration response. The results showed that the order of layers had a significant influence on the amplitude of vibration and critical dynamic buckling load.

  • Mechanical testing methods to determine the material constants for large deformation nonlinear finite element analysis were demonstrated for natural rubber. Uniaxial tension, uniaxial compression, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear tests of rubber specimens are performed to achieve the stress-strain curves. The stress-strain curves are obtained after between 5 and 10 cycles to consider the Mullins effect. Mooney and Ogden strain-energy density functions, which are typical form of the hyperelastic material, are determined and compared with each other. The material constants using only uniaxial tension data are about 20% higher than those obtained by any other test data set. The experimental equations of shear elastic modulus on the hardness and maximum strain are presented using multiple regression method. Large deformation finite element analysis of automotive transmission mount using different material constants is performed and the load-displacement curves are compared with experiments. The selection of material constant in large deformation finite element analysis depend on the strain level of component in service.

  • In order to understand the biomaterial like the blood vessel of artery, there is a need to quantify the biomechanical behavior of the vessel. However, theoretical framework to describe and quantify the behaviour of blood vessel was not well established so far. For studying the biomechanical behavior of artery, Rubber-liked material which is similar to passive artery is selected since conventional theoretical interpretation is very limited to understand and predict the behavior of biomaterial. Rubber-like material is assumed to be very similar to artery and has properties of isotropy, homogeneity and is undergoing large deformation. Based on this assumption, stress developed on Rubber-like material is described by strain energy function and strain invariants which are required to understand the nonlinear elastic behavior of biomaterial. The descriptor which would be used for understanding the biomechanical behavior of artery is studied in this work.

  • An adaptive fuzzy sliding-mode controller (SMC) for uncertain or ill-defined single-input single-output (SISO) nonaffine nonlinear systems is proposed. By using the universal approximation property of the fuzzy logic system (FLS), it is tuned on-line to cancel the unknown system nonlinearity. We adopt a self-structuring FLS to guarantee global stability of the closed-loop system rather than semi=global boundedness. The control and adaptive laws are derived so that the estimated fuzzy parameters are bounded and the sliding condition is satisfied.

  • This study attempts to investigate the impact of thickness stretching and nonlinear hygro-thermo-mechanical loading on the bending behavior of FG beams. Young's modulus, thermal expansion, and moisture concentration coefficients vary gradually and continuously according to a power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituent materials. In addition, the interaction between the thermal, mechanical, and moisture loads is involved in the governing equilibrium equations. Using the present developed analytical model and Navier's solution technique, the numerical results of non-dimensional stresses and displacements are compared with those obtained by other 3D theories. Furthermore, the present analytical model is appropriate for investigating the static bending of FG beams exposed to intense hygro-thermo-mechanical loading used for special technical applications in aerospace, automobile, and civil engineering constructions.

  • In the present research, an attempt is made to obtain a semi analytical solution for both nonlinear natural frequency and forced vibration of embedded functionally graded double layered nanoplates with all edges simply supported based on nonlocal strain gradient elasticity theory. The interaction of van der Waals forces between adjacent layers is included. For modeling surrounding elastic medium, the nonlinear Winkler-Pasternak foundation model is employed. The governing partial differential equations have been derived based on the Mindlin plate theory utilizing the von Karman strain-displacement relations. Subsequently, using the Galerkin method, the governing equations sets are reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The semi analytical solution of the nonlinear natural frequencies using the homotopy analysis method and the exact solution of the nonlinear forced vibration through the Harmonic Balance method are then established. The results show that the length scale parameters give nonlinearity of the hardening type in frequency response curve and the increase in material length scale parameter causes to increase in maximum response amplitude, whereas the increase in nonlocal parameter causes to decrease in maximum response amplitude. Increasing the material length scale parameter increases the width of unstable region in the frequency response curve.

  • In this research, the nonlinear free vibration analysis of boron-nitride micro ribbon (BNMR) on the Pasternak elastic foundation under electrical, mechanical and thermal loadings using modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) is studied. Employing the von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ nonlinear geometry theory, the nonlinear equations of motion for the graphene micro ribbon (GMR) using Euler-Bernoulli beam model with considering attached mass and size effects based on Hamilton's principle is obtained. These equations are converted into the nonlinear ordinary differential equations by elimination of the time variable using Kantorovich time-averaging method. To determine nonlinear frequency of GMR under various boundary conditions, and considering mass effect, differential quadrature element method (DQEM) is used. Based on modified strain MSGT, the results of the current model are compared with the obtained results by classical and modified couple stress theories (CT and MCST). Furthermore, the effect of various parameters such as material length scale parameter, attached mass, temperature change, piezoelectric coefficient, two parameters of elastic foundations on the natural frequencies of BNMR is investigated. The results show that for all boundary conditions, by increasing the mass intensity in a fixed position, the linear and nonlinear natural frequency of the GMR reduces. In addition, with increasing of material length scale parameter, the frequency ratio decreases. This results can be used to design and control nano/micro devices and nano electronics to avoid resonance phenomenon.

  • In this study, both a finite element analysis and an experimental analysis are executed to investigate the mechanical characteristics of dielectric material effects on warpage. Also, viscoelastic material properties are measured by DMA and are considered in warpage simulation. A finite element analysis is done by using both thermal elastic analysis and a thermo-viscoelastic analysis to predict the nonlinear effects. For experimental study, specimens warpage of non-symmetric structure with body size of $22.5{\times}22.5$ mm, $37.5{\times}37.5$ mm and $42.5{\times}42.5$ mm are measured under the reflow temperature condition. From the analysis results, experimental warpage is not similar to FEA results using thermal elastic analysis but similar to FEA results using thermo-viscoelastic analysis. Also, its effect on substrate warpage is increased as core thickness is decreased and body size is getting larger. These FEA and the experimental results show that the nonlinear characteristics of dielectric material play an important role on substrate warpage. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that non-linear behavior characteristics of a dielectric material should be considered to control warpage of FCBGA substrate under conditions of geometry, structure and manufacturing process and so on.
