  • A front-end loader (FEL) mounted on an agricultural tractor is one of the most commonly used implements for farm work. However, when the tractor carries material using the bucket attached to the FEL on a sloping ground, the materials can spill or roll back over the operator due to the tilted body, thereby requiring the bucket surface to remain level at a constant value regardless of varying slopes. In this study, an active system for controlling the angle of the FEL bucket on a tractor based on the real-time measurement of ground slopes was developed to enable the bucket to constantly remain level. A FEL simulator operated based on an electro hydraulic proportional valve (EHPV) was constructed in the laboratory to develop a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller forming a virtual electronic control unit (ECU) on the computer, which could automatically adjust the bucket angles depending on varying input angles while sending SAE-J1939 associated messages via CAN BUS to the EHPV. The different parameter values for the PID controller due to the gravity effect of the bucket were determined using a manual PID tuning method while assuming that the tractor travels on either an ascending slope or a descending slope. The developed PID control-based self-leveling system showed a mean of steady-state errors of within $1^{\circ}$ and a mean of delayed times of ~ 0.8s when the step input of $+20^{\circ}$ was given, implying that the developed system and control algorithm would be effective in maintaining the bucket angle at a certain value. Future studies include the improvement of the control algorithm to reduce such a time delay as well as the application of the developed algorithm to the FEL mounted on a tractor tested at a testing ground.

  • The present research examined heat insulation performance according to change of various laid construction conditions of double bubble sheet being used as material for heat insulation & curing construction of cold weather concrete, and its results are as follows. First, the change in a laid period of bubble sheet within 4 hours and the change in water content inside bubble sheet overall showed similar temperature history and maturity without a big difference in terms of the temperature history of concrete according to construction factors, but it could be confirmed that when a structure was thin or several bubble sheets are laid, requisites unfavorable for initial curing of concrete can occur if a lagger distance between sheets is generated. In terms of the compressive strength of concrete core specimens, it appeared that the initial compressive strength is declined when conditions unfavorable for concrete curing such as delay of a laid period of bubble sheets, induction of large distance between sheets, increase of water content inside bubble sheets and thinness of a structure of placing concrete, etc. were applied, but it appeared that as its age passes, the difference becomes small.

  • The durability of concrete structures deteriorates due to the corrosion of rebars and concrete deterioration by harmful ions (CO32-, Cl-, SO42-) penetrating and diffusing from the outside into concrete. Therefore, the use of surface-protection finishing mortar is very important for preventing or delaying the deterioration of concrete. In this study, the possibility of the prevention of deterioration or delay of deterioration of concrete was investigated using natural latex modified with silica sol and calcium ions for cement mortar, which can be used to repair the mortar of deteriorated concrete or for finishing the mortar of concrete. As a result, fine calcium silicate hydrate was formed in the pores of the cement material due to the calcium ions and silica sol components contained in the modified latex component that reduce the pore distribution of the cement mortar, thereby reducing the penetration and diffusion of harmful ions (CO32-, Cl-, and SO42-). Furthermore, the latex component was found to be present in the pores of the cement to improve the alkali resistance and carbonation resistance.

  • In this study, scaled model tests were performed on blasting demolition of reinforced concrete structures and the experimental results were analyzed in comparison with the results of numerical analysis. The tests were designed to induce a progressive collapse, and physical properties of the scaled model were determined using scale factors obtained ken dimension analysis. The scaled model structure was made of a mixture of plaster, sand and water at the ratio determined to yield the best scaled-down strength. Lead wire was used as a substitute for reinforcing bars. The scaled length was at the ratio of 1/10. Selecting the material and scaled factors was aimed at obtaining appropriately scaled-down strength. PFC2D (Particle Flow Code 2-Dimension) employing DEM (Distinct Element Method) was used for the numerical analysis. Blasting demolition of scaled 3-D plain concrete laymen structure was filmed and compared to results of numerical simulation. Despite the limits of 2-D simulation the resulting demolition behaviors were similar to each other. Based on the above experimental results in combination with bending test results of RC beam, numerical analysis was carried out to determine the blasting sequence and delay times. Scaled model test of RC structure resulted in remarkably similar collapse with the numerical results up to 900㎳ (mili-second).

  • Heat storage application techniques can be categorized into the sensible heat storage and the latent heat storage according to the method of heat storage. Heat storage is the way of saving remaining heat when heating and cooling loads are light, and then using it when the heating and cooling loads are heavy. Latent heat storage is defined as the method of saving heat by using substances which have high potential heat when phase change is in the range of a certain temperature and when heat storage space is small, compared to those of sensible heat storage and it is possible that absorption and emission of heat at a certain temperature. This study is conducted to save energy when either air-conditioning or heating is operated in a building. We have tried to find out the essential properties of matter and the optimum mixing rate about cement and gypsum for building materials, which have been widely used for proper phase change materials (PCM), when thermal environment property is applied. So we obtained the result of the cooling delay effect about 19% with heat storage mortar containing 3 wt% of PCM.

  • The 3D interconnect technologies have been appeared, as the density of Integrated Circuit (IC) devices increases. Through Silicon Via (TSV) process is an important technology in the 3D interconnect technologies. And the process is used to form a vertically electrical connection through silicon dies. This TSV process has some advantages that short length of interconnection, high interconnection density, low electrical resistance, and low power consumption. Because of these advantages, TSVs could improve the device performance higher. The fabrication process of TSV has several steps such as TSV etching, insulator deposition, seed layer deposition, metallization, planarization, and assembly. Among them, TSV metallization (i.e. TSV filling) was core process in the fabrication process of TSV because TSV metallization determines the performance and reliability of the TSV interconnect. TSVs were commonly filled with metals by using the simple electrochemical deposition method. However, since the aspect ratio of TSVs was become a higher, it was easy to occur voids and copper filling of TSVs became more difficult. Using some additives like an accelerator, suppressor and leveler for the void-free filling of TSVs, deposition rate of bottom could be fast whereas deposition of side walls could be inhibited. The suppressor was adsorbed surface of via easily because of its higher molecular weight than the accelerator. However, for high aspect ratio TSV fillers, the growth of the top of via can be accelerated because the suppressor is replaced by an accelerator. The substitution of the accelerator and the suppressor caused the side wall growth and defect generation. The suppressor was used as Single additive electrodeposition of TSV to overcome the constraints. At the electrochemical deposition of high aspect ratio of TSVs, the suppressor as single additive could effectively suppress the growth of the top surface and the void-free bottom-up filling became possible. Generally, copper was used to fill TSVs since its low resistivity could reduce the RC delay of the interconnection. However, because of the large Coefficients of Thermal Expansion (CTE) mismatch between silicon and copper, stress was induced to the silicon around the TSVs at the annealing process. The Keep Out Zone (KOZ), the stressed area in the silicon, could affect carrier mobility and could cause degradation of the device performance. Cobalt can be used as an alternative material because the CTE of cobalt was lower than that of copper. Therefore, using cobalt could reduce KOZ and improve device performance. In this study, high-aspect ratio TSVs were filled with cobalt using the electrochemical deposition. And the filling performance was enhanced by using the suppressor as single additive. Electrochemical analysis explains the effect of suppressor in the cobalt filling bath and the effect of filling behavior at condition such as current type was investigated.

  • The role of fly ash in concrete become impotent with finding the characteristics of fly ash in which it is used as cement replacement material. In this paper, corrosion test results obtained by two test methods such as the long-term exposure corrosion test and the accelerated corrosion test method, were compared to investigated the corrosion resistance between fly ash concrete and normal concrete. Corrosion initiation time was measured in two types of concrete, i.e., one mixed with fly ash(FA) and the other without admixture(OPC). The accelerated corrosion test was carried out by four case, i.e., two samples is a cyclic drying-wetting method combined without carbonation(case 1) and combined with carbonation(case 2), and the other two samples is a artificial seawater ponding test method combined without carbonation(case 3) and combined with carbonation(case 4). Whether corrosion occurs, it was measures using half-cell potential method. The ponding test combined without carbonation was most effective in accelerating corrosion time of steel bars. The results indicated that the corrosion of rebar embedded in concrete occurred according to the order of OPC, FA. The delay relative ratio of corrosion obtained by corrosion initiation time between FA and OPC is 1.04 to 1.27. Consequently, fly ash concrete as the age increases its corrosion resistance was improved compared with OPC concrete.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of complex ergogenic aid supplementation on endurance performance, energy substrate utilization (glucose, FFA) and blood fatigue factors (ammonia, lactate, phosphorous, pH, 5-HT) in endurance exercise. Subjects (male=10) took in complex ergogenic aid (180 ml/day) for 4 weeks and were tested after pre-test. Endurance performance times increased after supplementation compared to before supplementation. However, there was no additional accumulation of the fatigue materials. Thus the complex ergogenic aid supplementation caused the delay of the fatigue material accumulation during endurance exercise.

  • This study examined the effects of the concentration variation of the silyl hydride (Si-H) functional group in polymethylhydrogen siloxane cross-linker and the vinyl-functional group in silicone prepolymer on the physical properties of the dental polyvinylsiloxane impression materials (PVS). When the SiH/Vinyl ratio was 1.6 (Group $\underline{C6}$ containing ${\underline{C}}ross$-linker $\underline{6}$ parts), the setting rate was too slow even though their tensile strength was the highest within the tested groups. When the SiH/Vinyl ratio was 3.2 (Group C12), the setting rate was too fast to allow appropriate working time even though their mechanical properties were good. The C14 group showed rather lower tensile strength compared to the groups having lower cross-linker contents. Notably, too much incorporation of cross-linker, like C16 group, induced delay of the setting, by which the mechanical and manipulation properties were detrimentally affected.

  • There are about 1470 stone-cultural properties in Korea which have been registered and protected by the government. Representative of them are pagoda, stupa, stone-buddha, stele support of banner pole and stone-lanterns. Most of them have been exposed to and weathered by natural environments. Stone-cultural properties are destroyed and/or destructed mostly by weathering and its related features of rocks. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct geological studies on the weathering phenomena and related features as well as characteristics of the rock itself must be done for the conservation. Thus geological investigation should include detail measurements, rock varieties and phases, structural lineaments of the rock, cause and degree of weathering, degree and patterns of crack development structural stability, identification of reusable parts for restoration, geomorphological characteristics of the site, and etc. The interaction among these factors must be investigated and analyzed, which must be used as basic data to establish the guideline of conservation and to plan for repair and/or restoration. The conservation plan should involve parts to be repaired, method of repair, type of cementing material, the characteristics of rock phases to be supplemented, method for maintaining structural stability, and method to delay or to prevent the rock weathering.
