Seaweed has high growth rate, low land usage, high CO2 absorption and no competition for food resources. Therefore, the use of lignin-free seaweed as a raw material is arising as a third generation biomass for bioethanol production. Various pretreatment techniques have been introduced to enhance the overall hydrolysis yield, and can be categorized into physical, chemical, biological, enzymatic or a combination. Thermal acid hydrolysis pretreatment is one of the most popular methods to attain high sugar yields from seaweed biomass for economic reasons. At thermal acid hydrolysis conditions, the 3,6-anhydro-galactose (AHG) from biomass could be converted to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), which might inhibit the cell growth and decrease ethanol production. AHG is prone to decomposition into HMF, due to its acid-labile character, and subsequently into weak acids such as levulinic acid and formic acid. These inhibitors can retard yeast growth and reduce ethanol productivity during fermentation. Thus, the carbohydrates in seaweed require effective treatment methods to obtain a high concentration of monosaccharides and a low concentration of inhibitor HMF for ethanol fermentation. The efficiency of bioethanol production from the seaweed biomass hydrolysate is assessed by separate hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF). To improve the efficiency of the ethanol fermentation of mixed monosaccharides, the adaptation of yeast to high concentration of sugar could make simultaneous utilization of mixed monosaccharides for the production of ethanol from seaweed.

Permeating injection is commonly known as an ideal type of injection in grouting reservoir embankment, yet often-combined permeating and fracturing injection grouting operation can disturb the original soil. A grouting method has been regarded as effective and developed to ameliorate the possible disturbance problem. It involves compaction grouting with low expansive pressure near the injection hole and repetitive injection and compaction with grout material that allows ideal permeating injection. This thesis develops Hybrid Grout (ie. HG grout) that allows various application in any ground condition combined together, has high fineness and low viscosity, and expands permeation injection to silty sand. It researches on the injection effect of permeable compaction grout which is done with PC packer and is a combination of HG grout and expansion agent to obtain permeation compaction effect on the area near grout injection spot by developing Permeable Compaction Type Packer(ie. PC packer). As the developed PC packer, HG grout, and and expansion agent (HI-E) are applied to reservoir embankment reinforcement grouting, possibile permeation compaction effect that satisfies reservoir embankment grouting standard is confirmed according to the research.
The characteristics of flow and strength of CLSM depend on the combination ratio including the fly ash, pond ash, cement, water quantity and etc. However, it is very difficult to draw the mechanism about the flow, strength and the mixing ratio of each components. Therefore, the method of calculation drawing the flow about the component ratio of CLSM and compression strength value is needed for the valid practical use of CLSM. To verify the efficiency of artificial neural network, new data which were not used for establishing the model were predicted and compared with the results of laboratory tests. In this research, it was used to evaluate the learning efficiency of the artificial neural network model and the prediction ability by changing the node number of hidden layer, learning rate, momentum, target system error and hidden layer. By using the results, the optimized artificial neural network model which is suitable for a flow and compressive strength estimate of CLSM was determined.

While the trend of all industries recently lies in combination, construction industry is much interested in enhancing efficiency and competitiveness in the aspect of site control by adopting RFID. Though RFID has been applied to diverse areas thus far, it cannot be easily applied to construction industry due to diverse physical, chemical and use-environmental properties of construction materials. Furthermore, it is rarely applied to the site because of many problems in its application. It is required to prepare RFID code issuance and system that can systematically control the code as well as to research the standardization of frequency, specification, protocol, package method, recognition method, etc in order to apply RFID to construction industry. In this research, RFID code issuance and management program are proposed as a part of program research to apply RFID. Furthermore, the restricted matters of existing RFID tag are drawn to produce pilot product of RFID tag that can solve it so as to perform site application test. According to the experiment, effective recognition distance varies depending on material/environmental property and control efficiency changes depending on attachment method and application method. Thus, preparing diverse restrictive factors and solutions by systematically analyzing control method(medium, process) of current architecture materials and applying it to construction site can be the way to successfully apply RFID.

Location tracking automation of resources in construction industry is one of the most important procedures to improve construction project performance and reduce the period of construction. Recently, location tracking technologies have proven to be effective in tracking construction materials and equipment in real time through the instrumentality of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). By using wireless communication and inter-working system between RFID and USN, it is possible that construction engineers receive the location information of construction resources without additional efforts that move the RFID reader to read tags periodically. In the inter-working system, RFID reader delivers the acquired materials information to sensor node which is connected by serial interface. Then sensor node transmits the received data to the data aggregation terminal that is a sink node. The data aggregation terminal can transmit collected data to construction manager who is out of construction site using infrastructure such as CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) network. The combination model of the two system and field test scenarios are presented in this paper.

This study is carried out to make the environmentally affinitive porous planting block for revegetation and to make a effective program for greening plans. The summary is shown below. 1. In order to get stronger intensity and distribute proper porosity in the block for planting, the cements mixed with fine soil were used and the finer in soil grains gives the stronger in intensity of the cements. Use of the furnace slag cements instead of the portland cements showed relatively stronger in intensity of the block. The intensity of the block became stronger when the mixed ratio of the cements to soil is 5 : 1, but the pore space ratio was lower. The percolate pH of the portland cements after one month of treatment was 13.1 but the percolate pH of the furnace slag cements was shown lower. To mold proper porous planting blocks, the proper combination of additives such as the dehydrating agent, elastic agent and adhesives into the mixture of cements and soil gives better effectives. 2. After molding the porous planting blocks, it gave a better result when the grains of the filler made of peat moss, upland soil and compound fertilizer were smaller than 2 mm in size. Shaking of the filling materials also gave the better result, but it took more time and cost much more. Therefore, it was better when the filling materials were mixed with water first then flew down for stuffing. 3. It was necessary to cover with soil after seeding or planting on the porous planting blocks. The proper thickness of the soil to help root development and keep moisture is about 3~5 cm. 4. The plants for planting on the porous planting block were required stronger in the growth condition of their roots and their environmental adaptability. The average germination percentage and rate of Platycodon grandiflorum on the porous planting block were 88.8% and 85% accordingly and their rate is very uniform. The germination rates of Dianthus superbus var. longicalycinus and Taraxacum officinale were more than 50%. These grass species, Chelidonium majus var. asiaticum, Lysimachia mauritiana and Scabiosa mansenensis were the suggested biennial grasses in the planting area where exchanging of the seedling or nursery plants was not necessary because their germination rates were 59.3, 45.6 and 40.3% accordingly. Viola kapsanensis, Chrysanthemum sp., Taraxacum sp. and Iris ensata var. spontanea are the grass species that could be used by seeding for greening. However, the germination rate of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica, Aster scaber and Lythrum anceps were lower than 10%. The coverage ratio of Ixeris stolonifera is more than 80% after 60 days seeding and the root length of most of species are more than 10 cm except Iris ensata var. spontanea and Platycodon grandiflorum because their root developed thicker than other species.

In this paper, waveguide analysis was interpreted as an optical waveguide using the feedback perturbation method simple and easy to apply compared to the analysis method, while the other almost identical to the numerical calculation method. In addition, efficient coupling with an optical transmission line of optical fiber and the waveguide form the thin film of different functional elements is required in order to achieve the full optical communication system. However, problems arise, such as the light field (field) and the decrease of the access efficiency due to inconsistency in the distribution characteristics of the connection surface by the difference in size of the cross section thereof when connecting the optical fiber and the waveguide directly to the combination of a thin film. Therefore propose a new type of connector structure to increase the efficiency of the connection when connecting the optical fiber waveguide and the thin film was analyzed by applying a coupled mode theory, the binding efficiency of the modified contactor. And by diffusing Ti on the $LiNbO_3$ substrate and a wide range of applications in the manufacture of integrated optical material made of a current low-loss Ti: $LiNbO_3$ optical waveguide and making the Y-branch waveguide, and the properties were confirmed.
Purpose: Aplasia Cutis Congenita (ACC) is a rare disease characterized by the focal defect of the skin at birth, frequently involving scalp, but it may affect any region of the body. There are no etiology known but some conditions such as intrauterine vascular ischemia, amniotic adherences and viral infections are associated. The ideal treatment for the ACC is not known. Superficial and relatively small sized defects (< $3{\times}5\;cm$) may heal spontaneously and large defects related with risks of infection and bleeding may require aggressive surgical treatment. Hyalomatrix$^{(R)}$ is a bilayer of an esterified hyaluronan scaffold beneath a silicone membrane. It has been used as a temporary dermal substitute to cover deep thickness skin defect and has physiological functions derive from the structural role in extracellular matrix and interaction with cell surface receptor. This material has been used for the wound bed pre-treatment for skin graft to follow and especially in uncooperative patient, like a newborn, this could be a efficient and aseptic way of promoting granulation without daily irritative wound care. For this reason, using Hyalomatrix$^{(R)}$ for the treatment of ACC was preferred in this paper. Methods: We report a case of a newborn with ACC of the vertex scalp and non-ossified partial skull defect. The large sized skin and skull defect ($6{\times}6\;cm$) was found with intact dura mater. No other complications such as bleeding or abnormal neurologic sign were accompanied. Escharectomy was performed and Hyalomatrix$^{(R)}$ was applied for the protection and the induction of acute wound healing for 3 months before the split-thickness skin graft. During the 3 months period, the dressing was renewed in aseptic technique for every 3 weeks. The skin graft was achieved on the healthy granulation bed. Results: The operative procedure was uneventful without necessity of blood transfusion. Postoperative physical examination revealed no additional abnormalities. Regular wound management was performed in out-patient clinic and the grafted skin was taken completely. No other problems developed during follow-up. Conclusion: Hyalomatrix$^{(R)}$ provides protective and favorable environment for wound healing. The combination of the use of Hyalomatrix$^{(R)}$ and the skin graft will be a good alternative for the ACC patients with relatively large defect on vertex.
The Asiatic black bear (Ursus thibetanus) is globally protected species and involved in a species restoration program by the Korea National Park Service. However, the bears could not be released into the wild were required regulation of population due to the limited space of breeding facility, so surgical castration was performed in two males. Bears were immobilized with a combination of 2 mg/kg tiletamine-zolazepam and $40{\mu}g/kg$ medetomidine, and general anesthesia was maintained with isoflurane via endotracheal tube intubation. Orchiectomy was carried out by the closed method using the LigaSure vessel sealing device through pre-scrotal incision. Subcutaneous tissues of the incision site were sutured by continuous pattern with absorbable suture material, and the skin incision was closed with tissue glue. The bears recovered uneventfully from general anesthesia after a duration of 58 min (bear A) and 53 min (bear B). Total surgical time was 26 min (bear A) and 24 min (bear B). No postoperative swelling or complications were observed. This is the first report that describes the use of the LigaSure for orchiectomy in the Asiatic black bear.

Master packaging system consists of an inner individual package and secondary outer package. During the stages of chilled transport and distribution, the combination of primary individual package and secondary package was used to maintain a modified atmosphere for shiitake mushrooms. During the retail stage at higher temperature ($25^{\circ}C$), the primary individual package was exposed to display conditions after dismantling of the secondary packaging. The master packaging system was constructed to contain eight individual $30-{\mu}m$ thick polypropylene film bags of 500 g shiitake mushrooms inside a $40-{\mu}m$ low-density polyethylene bag. Carbon dioxide absorbent material [$Ca(OH)_2$] and/or moisture absorbent (superabsorbent polymer) were designed in their required amounts based on respiration characteristics and then applied to the outer secondary packaging in sachet form. Gas concentration of the packaging, temperature, and humidity were monitored throughout transport and storage. The quality of shiitake mushrooms was measured at the retail stage to determine the packaging effect. During the distribution stage of 108 h, $O_2$ and $CO_2$ concentrations in the master packaging system were maintained at 9~11% and 1~4% in the inner packaging, respectively, which are good for quality preservation. Compared to the control, the master packaging with $CO_2$ and/or moisture absorbents improved mushroom preservation and particularly reduced decay.
