  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of model attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention, and examine whether product-model match-up plays a moderating role in the relationship between model attractiveness and brand attitude and purchase intention. The model attractiveness is consist of psychological and physical attractiveness of the model. The authors investigate how product-model match-up influence the strength of the relationship between model attractiveness - brand attitude and purchase intention. The purpose of this is to test whether product-model match-up influence the form and effectiveness of a model attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention and suggest the effective and efficient methods in the model selection strategies to increase advertising effectiveness based on the results of this study. Research design, data, and methodology - The experimental design for this study was the between subject design based on 2 group of the psychological attractiveness(high vs. low) × product-model match-up(high vs low) and 2 group of the physical attractiveness(high vs. low) × product-model match-up(high vs low). And a preliminary investigation was conducted to develop experimental stimuli through manipulation check to enhance the external validity of experimental research. The attractiveness of the model and product-model match-up are independent variables and manipulative variables in presentation of experimental stimuli. The self-administered methode experiment was conducted on 300 subjects in four groups constructed according to the independent variables. Result - The findings provide partial support for a moderator for product-model match-up on the model attractiveness - brand attitude and purchase intention. First, the influence of psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention was shown significant. Also, it was found that the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention according to psychological attractiveness was significantly higher than the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention according to physical attractiveness in additional analysis. Second, the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention were higher when product - model match-up was high in both high and low psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness of the model. However, in the case of psychological attractiveness, the correlation effect with product - model match-up was significant, but in the case of physical attractiveness, it was not significant. Conclusions - The results of this study suggest that the attractiveness factor should be considered in selecting the ad model by verifying the effect of the attractiveness of the model on the advertising effect. In particular, this study has great significance both academically and practically in terms of suggesting such implications that the advertising effect of psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness may be different depending on the product type by additional analysis.

  • This paper proposed a multi-resolution algorithm. Its search point and complexity were compared with those of block match algorithm. Also the speed up comparison was made with the block match algorithm. The proposed multi-resolution NTSS-3 Level algorithm was compared again with its targets, TSS-3 Level algorithm and NTSS algorithm. The comparison results showed that the NTSS-3 Level algorithm was superior in search point and speed up. Accordingly, the proposed NTSS-3 Level algorithm was two to three times better in search point and two to four times better in complexity calculation than those of the compared object, the block match algorithm. In speed up, the proposed NTSS-3 Level algorithm was two times better. Accordingly, the proposed multi-resolution NTSS-3 Level algorithm showed PSNR ration portion excellency in search point and speed up.

  • A time-series data is the collection of real numbers over the time intervals. One of the main tasks in time-series data is efficiently to find subsequences similar to a given query sequence. In this paper, we propose an efficient subsequence matching method, which is called Instance-Match (I-Match). I-Match constructs a virtual window in order to reduce false alarms. Through the experiment with real data set and query sets, we show that I-Match improves query processing time by up to 2.95 times and significantly reduces the number of candidates comparing to Dual Match.

  • Homology searching on the primary structure (i.e., amino acid arrangement) of protein sequences is an essential part in predicting the functions and evolutionary histories of proteins. However, proteins distant in an evolutionary history do not conserve amino acid residue arrangements, while preserving their structures. Therefore, homology searching on proteins' secondary structure is quite important in finding out distant homology. In this manuscript, we propose an indexing scheme for efficient approximate searching on the secondary structure of protein sequences which can be easily implemented in RDBMS. Exploiting the concept of clustering and lookahead, the proposed indexing scheme processes three types of secondary structure queries (i.e., exact match, range match, and wildcard match) very quickly. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we conducted extensive experiments using a set of actual protein sequences. CSI was proved to be faster than the existing indexing methods up to 6.3 times in exact match, 3.3 times in range match, and 1.5 times in wildcard match, respectively.

  • In the modem times, consumers are exposed in a plethora of advertisements either consciously or unconsciously. Generally, companies try to make eye-catching advertisements by using highly attractive models (HAM). In the case of apparel, consumers mainly collect information on fashion trends from advertisements they see in magazine, newspaper, catalogue, and television programs which are created by marketers. Therefore, the advertisements which are supplied by marketers affect consumers apparel purchasing behavior. In this study, a structural equation model is developed to examine how consumers determine the match-up suitability between models in the advertisements and the apparel they promote. As a result, we find two dimensions, sensuality and cuteness, in model attractiveness. Empirical results show that each dimension of the attractiveness plays different role in enhancing model-apparel match-up in the advertisements. Several implications of this study are discussed.

  • The structure of conventional CAM(Content Addressable Memory) cell, used to Look-up table scheme in Huffman CODEC, is not performed by being separated in reading, writing and match operation. So, there is disadvantages that the control is complicated, and the floating states of match line force wrong operation to be happened in reading, writing operation. In this paper, in order to improve the disadvantages and proces the data fast, fast Look-up table is designed using DBLCAM(Dual Bit Line CAM)-performing the reading, writing operation and match operation independently and Two-port SRAM being more fast than RAM in an access speed. Look-up table scheme in Huffman CODEC, using DBLCAM and Two-port SRAM proposed in this paper, is designed in Cadence tool, and layout is performed in 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ 2-poly 3-metal CMOS full custom. And simulation is peformed with Hspice.

  • Surface Solar Insolation is important for vegetation productivity, hydrology, crop growth, etc. In this study, Surface Solar Insolation is estimated using Multi-functional Transport Satellite (MTSAT-1R) in clear and cloudy conditions. For the Cloudy sky cases, the surface solar insolation is estimated by taking into account the cloud transmittance and multiple scattering between cloud and surface. This model integrated Kawamura's model and SMAC code computes surface solar insolation with a 5km ${\times}$ 5km spatial resolution in hourly basis. The daily value is derived from the available hourly Surface Solar Insolation, independently for every pixel. To validation, this study uses ground truth data recorded from the pyranometer installed by the Korea Meteorological Agency (KMA). The validation of estimated value is performed through a match-up with ground truth. Various match-up with ground truth. Various match-up window sizes are tested with 3${\times}$3, 5${\times}$5, 7${\times}$7, 9${\times}$9, 10${\times}$10, 11${\times}$11, 13${\times}$13 pixels to define the spatial representativity of pyranometer measurement, and to consider drifting clouds from adjacent pixels across the ground station during the averaging interval of 1 hour are taken into account.

  • Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) is emitted energy from the Earth that is an important indicator of cooling effect in global scale and meteorological events in regional scale. Satellite-driven OLR products have its advantages overcoming spatially limited representation. The Korean geostationary satellite, Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS), has been producing OLR product in accordance with its own algorithm since Apr. 2011. This study introduces Spatio-Temporally Equalized Match-up (STEM) approach to evaluate the COMS OLR products. We have tested a number of cases of thresholds set by standard deviations of a subpixel $10.8{\mu}m$ to find optimal representation of OLR in the selective match-up. Each case was then validated with broadband reference data, Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES). We found that selective STEM approach was useful to validate OLR product especially its distribution in homogeneous grids.
