Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the internal fitness of the resin coping that was fabricated by the traditional and Digital manufacturing methods through 3-dimensional analysis. Methods: maxillary right second molar was chosen implant master model. Custom-built impression trays were manufactured. After screwing the pick-up impression coping onto the master cast, impressions were made with silicone impression. The Working model was then made with type IV stone. The coping was fabricated: SLAC group (n=8), APPC group (n=8), LAPC group (n=8) Resin coping data was measured by using a three-dimensional evaluation program. Internal fitness was calculated by RMS (Root Mean Square). It measures mean and Standard Deviation (SD). Results: Three groups are measured $47.11{\pm}(3.08){\mu}m$ total RMS of SLAC group, $48.35({\pm}1.55{\mu}m)$ for total RMS of LAPC group, $43.45{\pm}2.09{\mu}m$ for total RMS of APPC group. Measured value is gradually increased. Followed by autopolymerized pattern resin; Stereolithography resin, Light-activated pattern resin But there were no differences stastically(P>0.321). Conclusion: Evaluation of internal fitness on Resin copings was fabricated by three-ways methods showed that no differences statistically significant and clinically acceptable results.
An absolutely passive fit at the interface with the superstructure and the abutment cylinders is need for implant longevity. In this study, a method of cast framework correction using spark erosion technology was evaluated. Electric discharge machining(EDM) is a process that uses electrical discharges, or sparks, to machine metal, The surface being machined is bombared with high-intensity electrical energy pulses that gradually melt away the stock until the desired configuration is obtained. Master model was fabricated by using metal block impression analogue, which fired 5 Branemark squared impression coping in an arc shaped metal block. Then framework using 4mm standard gold cylinder and type IV gold alloy was fabricated. In order to measure the fit of the framework we used both contact and noncontact coordinate measurement machine and data was processed by computer program. After superimposition of gold framework and master model numeric image data the distances between gold cylinder bearing surfaces and abutment replica bearing surfaces, and the angle deviations between gold cylinder and abutment replica centroid points were calculated. The results were as follows 1 The total mean distance (p<0.01) and standard deviation (p<0.001) between the gold cylinders and abutment bearing surfaces were significantly decreased after EDM 2. The total mean of maximum distances was significantly decreased after EDM (p<0.05). 3. After EDM, the mean angle deviation between centroid points was decreased.
Purpose: This in vitro study measured and compared 3 intraoral scanners' accuracy (trueness and precision) with different span lengths. Materials and Methods: Three master casts were prepared to simulate 3 different span lengths (fixed partial dentures with 3, 4, and 5 units). Each master cast was scanned once with an E3 lab scanner and 10 times with each of the 3 intraoral scanners (Trios 3, Planmeca Emerald, and Primescan AC). Data were stored as Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files. The differences between measurements were compared 3-dimensionally using metrology software. Data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance with post hoc analysis by the Tukey honest significant difference test for trueness and precision. Statistical significance was set at P<0.05. Results: A statistically significant difference was found between the 3 intraoral scanners in trueness and precision (P<0.05). Primescan AC showed the lowest trueness and precision values(36.8 ㎛ and 42.0 ㎛;(39.4 ㎛ and 51.2 ㎛; and 54.9 ㎛ and 52.7 ㎛) followed by Trios 3 (38.9 ㎛ and 53.5 ㎛; 49.9 ㎛ and 59.1 ㎛; and 58.1 ㎛ and 64.5 ㎛) and Planmeca Emerald (60.4 ㎛ and 63.6 ㎛; 61.3 ㎛ and 69.0 ㎛; and 70.8 ㎛ and 74.3 ㎛) for the 3-unit, 4-unit, and 5-unit fixed partial dentures, respectively. Conclusion: Primescan AC had the best trueness and precision, followed by Trios 3 and Planmeca Emerald. Increasing span length reduced the trueness and precession of the 3 scanners; however, their values were within the accepted successful ranges.
It is the youth period that the personality is shaping gradually. The residential environments have influence on the young ego. Especially residential design should include more youth friendly design elements than any other facilities. The purpose of this study was to provide the youth friendly design elements about the space design of apartment through analysis of youth's needs. This study was progressed to the survey method about five districts of apartment design competitions in 2007. The collected cases are analyzed by using statistics software SPSS for windows release 11.0. The result of the study was as below. First, the youth satisfaction of current residential space got more satisfied as floor space got larger. Second, most of youth uses them own room that is satisfied with their floor space for sleeping, inviting friends, studying, playing activities. Third, generally youth preferred to place their own room not far from the restroom, but the result of distance between master room and entrance was classified depend on sex, personal inclination, and residence environment, also generally satisfied with volume of their room. Fourth, for the restroom, although it is too small that satisfied with bath facilities relatively. And cast, youth's preferred room for extra was 'movie/music room', 'game room' and 'dress room' which is higher preference than 'study room'.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the demensioal stability and wettability of several rubber impression materials. Impressions were made from a metal master die machined to stimulate five full veneer crown preparations symmetrically placed in an arch form. Cast from impressions were measured about ; 1) intrapreparation distance 2) lower base diameter 3) length. For comparing materials were formed against a smooth surface. The advancing contact angle of a saturated aqueous solution of $CaSO_4$ on the impression materials was measured after 1 minute. Mean contact angle were calculated and results were analyzed. Results were as follows : 1. As the intrapreparation distance, hydrophilic addition-cured silicone had the smallest change and condensation-cured silicone had the largest one. 2. As the lower base diameter, traditional addition-cured silicone had the smallest change and polyether had the largest one. 3. As the height, traditional addition-cured silicone had the smallest change and polyether had the largest one. 4. As the contact angle, polyether had the smallest change and condensation-cured silicone had the largest one.
This article reviews the topic of how to identify and develop a removable partial denture (RPD) path of placement, and provides a literature review of the concept of the RPD path of placement, also known as the path of insertion. An optimal RPD path of placement, guided by mutually parallel guide planes, ensures that the RPD flanges fit intimately over edentulous ridge structures and that the framework fits intimately with guide plane surfaces, which prevents food collecting empty spaces between the intaglio surface of the framework and intraoral surfaces, and ensures that RPD clasps engage adequate numbers of tooth undercuts to ensure RPD retention. The article covers topics such as the causes of obstructions to RPD intra-oral seating, the causes of food collecting empty spaces that may exist around an RPD, and how to identify if a guide plane is parallel with the projected RPD path of placement. The article presents a method of using a surgical operating microscope, or high magnification (6-8x or greater) binocular surgical loupes telescopes, combined with co-axial illumination, to identify a preliminary path of placement for an arch. This preliminary path of placement concept may help to guide a dentist or a dental laboratory technician when surveying a master cast of the arch to develop an RPD path of placement, or in verifying that intra-oral contouring has aligned teeth surfaces optimally with the RPD path of placement. In dentistry, a well-fitting RPD reduces long-term periodontal or structural damage to abutment teeth.
The purpose of this study was to compare the fithness, hardness and bending strength of the conventional reliners and visible light curing reliner. Nine regions were selected in the upper transverse section which were thought to be of interest from a clinical standpoint and the discrepancies between the dentures and the master cast in these regions were determined by the coordinated measuring machine(UMM-500, Zeiss, W. Germany). The results were as follows ; 1. The experimental denture bases showed the lowest fittness at the central portion of the posterior palatal border and the intimate contact in the buccal flanges regardless of relining materials and relining methods. 2. The fittness of relined denture base was the best in autopolymerizing group and in the order of long processing, short processing and visible light curing group. 3. The fittness after 24 hour-storage in water was improved in long processing and autopolymerizing groups, but there was no significant difference. 4. The hardness was the highest in long processing group and decreased in the order of short processing, visible light curing and autopolymerizing group. 5. The bending strength was the highest in long processing group and decreased short processing, visible light curing, and aotopolymerzing group in order.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which dental laboratories use proper materials, procedures, devices, and equipments to fabricate crown & bridge, PFM(Porcelain Fused to Metal) crown & bridge, partial denture, complete denture, and other prosteses. 100 laboratories in Seoul were selected for this investigation. Questionnaires were constructed focusing on five topocs:crown & bridge, PFM crown & bridge, partial denture, complete denture, and other prostheses. The results from this survey were as follows : 1. Most dental laboratories used old, inexpensive, and familiar materials rather than newly developed ones. 2. Most of the dental technicians did not stick to the standard procedures of handling materials, but to their own experiences. 3. Newly developed equipments to fabricate dental prostheses were possessed by nearly 30% dental laboratories. 4. About 80% of dental laboratories were using the procedures they had learned in the school : die trimming for accurate crown margin and softening heat treatment after RPD gold casting. But less than 30% of laboratories were shown to follow the boxing procedure to produce master cast and laboratory remounting in the process of complete denture. The findings show that dental laboratory procedures to fabricate dental prostheses are incomplete and inaccurate in some instances. So, further studies are neededs to clarify the causes of some inaccurate procedures, the better and more equipments should be supplied to produce the more accurate dental posthesis, and more efforts at enancing the appropriate use of dental materials and procedures should be made.
