  • The present investigation deals, heat and mass transfer characteristics with the effect of slip on the hydromagnetic pulsatile flow through a parallel plate channel filled with saturated porous medium. Based on the pulsatile flow nature, exact solution of the governing equations for the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are obtained by using two term perturbation technique subject to physically appropriate boundary conditions. The expressions of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also derived. The numerical values of the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. By increasing the slip parameter at the cold wall the velocity increases whereas the effect is totally reversed in the case of shear stress at the cold wall.

  • Since the allowable bearing capacities of piles in weathered/fractured rock are mainly governed by settlement, the load-displacement behavior of the rock socketed pile should be well known. To predict pile head settlement at the design stage, the exact understanding of the load-transfer mechanisms is essential. Therefore, in this research, the load-transfer mechanisms of drilled shaft socketed into weathered rock was investigated. For that, 5 cast-in-place concrete piles with diameters of 1,000 mm were socketed into weathered gneiss. The static axial load tests and the load-transfer measurements were performed to examine the axial resistant behavior of the piles. A comprehensive field/laboratory testing program on weathered rock at the field test sites was also performed to describe the in situ rock mass conditions quantitatively. And then, the effect of rock mass condition on the load transfer mechanism was investigated. The side shear resistance of the pile in moderately weathered rock reached to yielding point at a few millimeter displacements, and after that, the rate of resistance increment dramatically decreased. However, that in the highly /completely weathered rock did not show the obvious yielding point, and gradually increased showing the hyperbolic pattern until with the relatively high displacement (>10 mm). The end bearing-displacement curves showed linear increase at least until with the base displacement of approximately 10 mm, regardless rock mass conditions.

미세 수평 사각 유로에서의 비등 열전달에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Flow Boiling Heat Transfer within Horizontal Rectangular Channels with Small Heights)

  • The present paper proposes a new correlation for the flow boiling heat transfer coefficients in the low flow rate condition (Re(sub)LF$\leq$200) within horizontal rectangular channels with small gaps (heights). The gap between the upper and the lower plates of each channel ranges from 0.4 to 2mm while the channel width being fixed to 20mm. Refrigerant 113 was used as the test fluid. The mass flux ranges from 50 to 200kg/㎡s and the channel walls were uniformly heated with the heat flux range of 3-15kW/㎡. The quality range covers from 0.19 to 0.76 and the flow pattern is considered to be annular. The measured heat transfer coefficients increase with the mass flux and the local quality; however the effect of the heat flux appears to be minor. At the low mass flux condition, which is more likely with the smaller gap size, the heat transfer is primarily controlled by the liquid film thickness. The proposed F factor for the heat transfer coefficient in the range of Re(sub)LF$\leq$200 well represents the experimental data within the deviation of $\pm$20%. The Kandlikars flow boiling correlation covers the higher flow-rate range(Re(sub)LF>200) within the deviation of $\pm$20%.

미세채널 내 이산화탄소의 증발 열전달 특성 및 오일의 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Characteristics of Evaporation Heat Transfer and Oil Effect of $CO_2$ in Mini-channels)

  • In order to investigate $CO_2$ heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop by PAG oil concentration during $CO_2$ evaporation, the experiment on evaporation heat transfer characteristics in a mini-channels were performed. The experimental apparatus consisted of a test section, a DC power supply, a heater, a chiller, a mass flow meter, a pump and a measurement system. Experiment was conducted for various mass fluxes($300{\sim}800kg/m^{2}s$), heat fluxes($10{\sim}40kW/m^2$) saturation temperatures($-5{\sim}5^{\circ}C$), and PAG oil concentration(0, 3, 5wt%). The variation of the heat transfer coefficient was different according to the oil concentration. With the increase of the oil concentration, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient decreased and the delay of dryout by oil addition was found. Pressure drop increased with the increase of the oil concentration and heat flux, and the decrease of saturation temperature.

Effects of Salt Addition in Sugar Based Osmotic Dehydration on Mass Transfer and Browning Reaction of Carrots

  • Mass transfer characteristics during osmotic dehydration of carrots were studied as functions of immersion temperature and time, and sugar and salt concentrations. The effect of osmotic dehydration on the degree of browning of air-dried carrots was also evaluated. Increasing the immersion temperature and time, sugar concentration, and salt addition increased water loss, sugar gain, molality and rate of dehydration. The water loss and increases in solids, and molality were rapid in the beginning of the process and then increased slowly during remainder of the process. Increasing 1 or 2% salt concentration in the 40$^{\circ}$Brix sugar solution at 6$0^{\circ}C$ increased water loss and solid gain. Salt addition was not able to significantly affected on water loss and solid gain compare to temperature (40~8$0^{\circ}C$) and sugar concentration (20~60$^{\circ}$Brix) changes due to the low salt concentration. A minimum degree of browning of the air-dried carrots (O.D. = 0.048) could be achieved using binary solutions (40$^{\circ}$Brix sugar solution with 2% salt addition) with 24 min of immersion time compared to control (O.D. = 1.308) or blanching with 24 min of immersion time (O.D. = 0.174).

  • 회분식 추출기를 이용하여 구연산-초산 혼합수용액-n-butylacetate계에서 2급 아민 추출제인 DITDA와 용매화 추출제인 MOHPO를 이용 추출시 물질전달계수에 미치는 교반속도의 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 실험결과 본 추출장치에서 교반속도가 커질수록 추출도는 증가하였고, 교반속도가 200rpm, 교반시간 30분 정도가 가장 좋은 결과를 얻었다. 또한 구연산-초산 혼합수용액에서 추출제로 2급 아민인 DITDA을 사용했을 경우 추출도가 더 높았다. 물질전달계수는 추출도와 비례함을 알았고, 구연산을 DITDA로 추출시 추잔상측 물질전달계수와 Re수와는 $K_r=1.254{\times}10^{-3}Re^{0.536}$이었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 증발분출냉각장치의 설계 및 이의 응용을 위하여 두께가 비교 적 두꺼운(120mm) 다공물질층을 모델로 사용하여 증발분출냉각에 관한 열전달특성을 실험적으로 조사하였다. 실험은 열과 유체의 흐름이 1차원 정상상태에 대하여 증발 영역의 발생과 그 길이 및 상변화위치, 그리고 다공물질층의 표면온도등에 영향을 미 치는 인자들을 조사하며, 아울러 냉각수의 상변화시 다공층내 냉각수 유동의 안정성 여부를 관찰하였다.

  • Effect of a non-absorbable gas on the absorption process in a vertical tube absorber was investigated numerically. The water vapor mined with air as the non-absorbable gas is absorbed into LiBr/water solution film. The flow is assumed to be laminar and fully developed in both liquid and gas phases. The diffusion and energy equations were solved in both phases to give the temperature and concentrations, from which heat and mass fluxes were determined. It was shown that the local absorption rate decreases as the mass fraction of air in water vapor increases. The vapor pressure of water at the liquid-vapor interface reduces significantly since the non-absorbable gas is accumulated near the interface. The effect of non-absorbable gases on absorption rate becomes larger as the mass flow rate of the vapor decreases. For small amount of non-absorbable gases the total absorption rate of water vapor increases as the mass flow rate of the vapor decreases. Total absorption rate increases as the mass flow rate of the vapor increases for large concentration of non-absorbables at the inlet of an absorber.

액적이탈을 고려한 관내 응축열전달계수 계산 모델 (A modeling of in-tube condensation heat transfer considering liquid entrainment)

  • Local condensation heat transfer coefficients in tubes were calculated by solving momentum and energy equations for annular film with liquid entrainment. The turbulent eddy distribution across the liquid film has been proposed and the calculated heat transfer coefficients were presented. Also turbulent Prandtl number effects on condensation heat transfer were discussed from three Pr$\_$t/ models. Finally, the calculated condensation heat transfer coefficients of R22 were compared with some correlations frequency referred to in open literature. This calculation model considering liquid entrainment predicted well the in-tube condensation heat transfer coefficient of R22 than the model not considering liquid entrainment. The effect of entrainment on heat transfer was predominant for high quality and high mass flux when the liquid film was turbulent.

젖은 벽탑을 이용한 디에틸렌트리아민과 디에틸에탄올아민 수용액의 CO2 흡수속도 측정 (Kinetics of CO2 Absorption in Aqueous DETA and DEEA Solutions by Wetted-Wall Column)

  • 연소 배가스 중 CO2를 포집하기 위한 에너지 저감형 흡수제로 상분리 흡수제가 주목 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2종의 아민을 혼합한 상분리 흡수제 중 하나인 디에틸렌트리아민(diethylenetriamine, DETA)과 디에틸아미노에탄올(diethylaminoethanol, DEEA) 흡수제를 구성하는 DETA와 DEEA 각각의 흡수 속도를 측정하기 위해 젖은 벽탑을 사용하였다. 총괄 물질전달 계수에 대한 DETA 및 DEEA의 농도와 조업 온도에 따른 영향을 고찰하였다. 그 결과 DETA 농도에 따라 총괄 물질전달 계수는 비례하였지만 DEEA 농도의 경우 그 영향이 적었고 일정 농도를 넘어설 경우 총괄 물질전달 계수가 감소하였다. DETA 수용액은 조업 온도에 따라 총괄 물질전달 계수의 변화가 적었던 반면 DEEA 수용액은 조업 온도에 따라 총괄 물질전달 계수가 증가하였다. 의사 1차 반응 가정 하에서 관찰 반응 속도 상수를 구한 결과 DETA 수용액에서의 관찰 반응속도 상수는 DETA 농도에 따라 비례하는 관계를 가지나 DEEA는 의사 1차 반응 가정에 맞지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
