The purposes of this study were to analyse the written clothing described in the magazine (Yea-Won) and then to review the characteristics of advertising and trends of fashion in Korea for last 10 years of 1955-1965 with a new approach to classify the images of fashion. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The characteristics of fashion advertising during this period indicated design appeals, pragmatic appeals, and image appeals. It also represented intermediate status of modern advertising and publication. 2. The trends of fashion market segmentation could be divided into four types: Fashion which considered seasons and time-place-occasion/ Fashion considered ages, occupations, and body conditions/ Fashion focused on materials/ Fashion with enlightenment, 3. The most frequently used colors were black. navy blue, white, and gray, however, it showed varieties from late 1964. Fashion materials used in clothing were kinds of wools, cottons, synthetic and combined materials. 4. Image appeals of fashion trends could be classified as Active-Country and Romantic-Elegance images.

The building construction industry of Korea was going through difficulties in improving productivity and competitiveness in international market. Therefore we expected to see the improvement in productivity by applying six-sigma based approach to general reinforced concrete construction work. As a result of applying DMAIC method, one of 6 sigma tools, we found that the most effective inspection items are 'Gap of forms' and 'status of clean'. We could see from this case study that the percentage of additional work days has decreased to 37.7% as a result of applying six-sigma based approach to reinforced concrete construction.

Change in business has ushered in new corporate value for the success of the future. Excellent companies understand this and seek to realise the new value to procure their status in the market. The new corporate value is composed of those of employees', customers' and shareholders', and of these three, the first is the footing for improving tile others. Korea Telecom has measured employees' value every you since 1998 with an eye to achieving corporate vision, Cyberworld Leader. In this paper, we analyse the case of two leading telcos to enhance employees' value. After that, we explicate the goals, concepts and future directions of the analysis of employees' value in Korea Telecom.

This paper described the current status of machine tool technology and its future trends with a particular emphasis on high-speed machining. People in machine tool industry have continuously sought to serve fast-changing manufacturing industry with economical machining solutins. At presents, it appears that more productivity gain is demanded to shorten time-to-market and machining requirements become more stringent. In this regard, this paper firstly addressed a high-speed spindle as a key element for the next-generation machine tools. The sequel to it apparently went to high-speed feed axes and final discussion included the problem of how to optimize overall system including servo function. Lastly a brief look to NC technology including machine intelligence was taken.

Currently, the consumer pattern is directed to small quantity and high variety these days. World market is led by technological innovations and changes rapidly. To survive in this environment, the raising of small and medium enterprises is highly desirable. In the context of nationwide restructuring, competitive medium and small industries which are in good financial status should lead the nation's economy. But general ignorance of the safety issues could lead to a miss management of this industry in this field. In this study, actual condition and improvement of safety management are as follows; We have to 1) find out the factors which endangers this industry, and set a proper guideline for safety management. 2) encourage safety management of these industries by themselves, and advertise and provide technical support for using PC and internet. 3) set a higher standard of safety issue when accrediting a prospective medium and small industry, and have a firm control of this issue once accredited. 4) supply more governmental financial aids to terms of safety issues for medium and small industries.

Today's businesses are experiencing intensive global competition and the most accelerating pace of change ever. Competitors have sprung up that were not even on the business's radar. This environment impacts all decisions and strategies as business try to dominate their market or their marker or their industry merely to survive. So recently most of organizations are considering on building the data warehouse system to pursuit the business intelligence. We need the proper model to guide the approach to plan building data warehouse system when we want to plan it in considering the organizational status. Therefore we suggest a model to decide the approach to build data warehouse considering the project's environmental factors. First we review Ronald S. Swift(1998)'s five environmental factors that we have to consider when planing to build data warehouse. Then we propose a model to decide DW approach by the degree of those factors to be measured. DW approaches in this model are classified in conservative approach, increasing approach, enterprise wide approach, and ideal approach.

This paper reviews the benefits of users participation in IMT-2000 standardization by the creation of users coalitions, focusing in particular on phased standards strategy necessary for the evolutionary approach from second generation to third generation systems. It first presents in detail the current status of IMT-2000 standardization progress occurring at each regional standard body including TIA of US, ETSI of Europe, TTA of Korea and ARIB of Japan. With this clear understanding of standardization situations worldwide, we may be able to come up with our standards strategies related to IPR issues and efficient standard-setting mechanism between manufacturers and service providers. In addition, this paper addresses the necessity for phased licensing of IMT-2000 service in order to avoid the high cost of new infrastructures and ensure an acceptable financial investment returns for existing cellular and PCS service providers. An author hopes that this paper can provide the adequate standardization directions of IMT-2000 to satisfy the varying regional and global market requirements.

Supply chain management(SCM) has been recognized as a major strategy in today's market place. A growing number of researchers have begun to realize the strategic importance of model construction, planning, controlling and operation for SCM. Also various researches of supply chain model building are going on. In this paper, we synthesis key elements of supply chain model such as performance factors, decision variables and constraints. We have reviewed past and present supply chain models and then analyzed those in view of environment factors, operations, solution approaches.

Presented in this paper is a state-of-the-art review of VM(Virtual Manufacturing). To survive on a global competition, manufacturers must shorten the time to market for their products. To achieve this goal, many manufacturers have implmented CIM systems. VM is a new direction in the CIM system development having emphasis on enhancing the decision-making capability. VM can be defined an integrated, synthetic manufacturing environment exercised to enhance all levels of decision and control. Also, VM is the use of computer models and simulations of manufacturing processes to aid in the design and production of manufactured products. Currently, VP(Virtual Prototyping) and VF(Virtual Factory) are main theme to develop a VM. In this paper, the concept and current status of VP and VF are explained.

Pollution emissions from international shipping and port activities have a significant impact on public health and global climate changes. The purpose of this paper is to review the status of pollution mitigation measures implemented to date in port industry and find out some implications for Korean ports. For this aim, the clean air strategies of the world major ports including six USA ports (Los Angeles/Long Beach, Now York/New Jersey, and Seattle and Tacoma), two European ports (Rotterdam and Gothenburg) and Busan Port were considered. Various measures to reduce emission from ports are evaluated by sectors-ocean going vessels, cargo handling equipments, truck and rail-, on the basis of categories such as reduction control technologies, operational changes and market-based measures. The policy implications of this paper are as follows. First, Clean Air Act Plans of Korean ports are required as soon as possible. Second, integrated approach is required to reduce emission effectively. Finally, the effect of port-related emission reduction can be maximized when various measures are conducted on a regional basis including neighboring ports. Furthermore, regional or global-based approach is useful to guarantee the level playing field among ports.
