A Study on VMD for Development of Traditional Markets: Focused on Korean Clothes Shops

  • The traditional market in the nation was forced to decrease greatly users as well as sales because of opening of all of the markets, Internet shopping mall, home shopping and other new types of marketing businesses to lose market functions remarkably. Therefore, the Agency for Traditional Market Administration of Small & Medium Business Administration made efforts to develop traditional market, for instance, modernization of the facilities to improve physical environment, and improvement of each shop by using VMD, and so on. The purpose of the study was to examine efficiency of VMD shops for development of traditional market by the Agency for Traditional Market Administration and effects of VMD upon sales of each shop, and to help establish VMD strategies for customer satisfactions as well as visual environment of traditional market. The author visited five shops at Busan Jin Market, special market of articles for wedding ceremony that joined VMD shop guide of traditional market, and taught VMD on-the-spot and investigated it. Questionnaire of Agency for Traditional Market Administration was used to interview shop owners, shopkeepers and consumers, etc and to examine factors of changes of sales and customers' satisfactions before and after VMD. The purpose of the study was to investigate effects and satisfactions of increase of the sales of VMD shop guide that the government promoted to develop traditional market so far. Therefore, the author investigated VMD presentation, increase of the sales before and after VMD presentation, increase of number of customers, and satisfactions, etc of Korean clothes shops that joined improvement of VMD shop guide of traditional market of the government in 2010. The author investigated effects of the sales, increase of customers and satisfactions, etc by case study and empirical analysis, and she presented user-oriented VMD presentation techniques of traditional market and suggested improvement. After applying VMD, the shops could increase sales more than 20 percent in average, and satisfaction of VMD presentation was more than 88 points or more to be very much high. This study suggested VMD strategies and presentation of traditional market to give consumers affirmative visual images and to develop traditional market.

퍼지이론을 활용한 변동비 반영 전력시장의 용량요금 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Capacity Payment using Fuzzy Theory in CBP Market)

  • This paper presents a method for improvement of capacity payment in CBP(cost based pool) market. Capacity payments have been used as common mechanisms in various pools for compensating generators recognized to serve a for reliability purpose. Ideal pricing for capacity reserves by definition achieves a balance between economic efficiency and investment incentives. That is, prices must be kept close to costs, but not so low as to discourage investment. However, the price set is not easy. This paper concludes with market design recommendations that apply fuzzy theory for improvement of capacity payment. Following this model, market participants decided on their own based on their forecast to the market demand and the payment for it.

  • Since the System Marginal Price (SMP) is a vital factor to the market entities who intend to maximize the their profit, the short-term marginal price forecasting should be performed correctly. In a electricity market, the short-term trading between the market entities can be generally affected a short-term market price. Therefore, the exact forecasting of SMP can influence on the profit of market participants. This paper presents a methodology of day-ahead SMP foretasting using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA). To show the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method, the numerical studies have been performed using historical data of SMP in 2004.

인터넷 중고시장 이용 소비자의 쇼핑경험에 관한 자연주의적 접근 - 아이베이비를 중심으로 - (Investigation into Consumers' Shopping Experiences in Internet Used-item Markets - Focused on "I-baby" -)

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate consumers' experience of using Internet used-item markets in order to determine their motives in such activity. In terms of the Internet used-item market, (1) it contributes to a sound culture of consumption by recycling, (2) as a C2C market, it retains characteristics fundamentally different from the existing one-way type of market, (3) and it offers different characteristics from existing offline-based flea markets. Two significant themes emerged from the study results. First, users of Internet used-item markets passed through various stages such as novice, addict, and expert and learned the techniques for utilizing the used-item market. Second, for fast transactions with generalized Internet banking and the increasing trend for price bargaining emotional exchange among members is being transformed into the pursuit of transactional efficiency.

아시아 외환시장의 효율성 분석 (An Empirical Study on Asia Foreign Exchange Market Efficiency)

  • In this paper, the unbiasedness hypothesis cannot be rejected for JPY. It means that Japanese forward exchange market is efficient. This implies that there would not be an unusual profit from speculation. However, the unbiasedness hypothesis can be rejected for THB, HKD, IDR. It means that Asian forward exchange market is inefficient. This implies that there would be an unusual profit from all available information. This suggests that forward exchange rates cannot be an unbiased estimator of future spot exchange rate. This result explains that the actual pricing for forward rate is not based on the international financial market's pricing mechanism of interest rate parity theory, but rather depends upon that simple market expectations and aspirations.

R&D집약도와 시장구조 (R&D Intensity and Market Structure)

  • According to "structure-conduct-performance" paradigm in IO, market structure (concentration) determines conduct (R&D investments), and conduct yields market performance (ratio of price to marginal cost). Previous empirical studies on Schumpeter Mark I, II assumed that the explanatory variable (market structure) and the disturbance are uncorrelated in the R&D equation. In this situation, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimates of the structural parameters are inconsistent, because the endogeneous variables (R&D and market structure) can be determined simultaneously. So, in this study, full information (or system methods) estimation is used to test Schumpeter hypothesis since joint estimation can as well bring efficiency gains in the seemingly uncorrelated regressions (SUR) setting.

Impact of Public Information Arrivals on Cryptocurrency Market: A Case of Twitter Posts on Ripple

  • Public information arrivals and their immediate incorporation in asset price is a key component of semi-strong form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. In this study, we explore the impact of public information arrivals on cryptocurrency market via Twitter posts. The empirical analysis was conducted through various methods including Kapetanios unit root test, Maki cointegration analysis and Markov regime switching regression analysis. Results indicate that while in bull market positive public information arrivals have a positive influence on Ripple's value; in bear market, however, even if the company releases good news, it does not divert out the Ripple from downward trend.

GARCH 모형을 활용한 비트코인에 대한 체계적 위험분석 (Systematic Risk Analysis on Bitcoin Using GARCH Model)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the volatility of bitcoin, diagnose if bitcoin are a systematic risk asset, and evaluate their effectiveness by estimating market beta representing systematic risk using GARCH (Generalized Auto Regressive Conditional Heteroskedastieity) model. First, the empirical results showed that the market beta of Bitcoin using the OLS model was estimated at 0.7745. Second, using GARCH (1, 2) model, the market beta of Bitcoin was estimated to be significant, and the effects of ARCH and GARCH were found to be significant over time, resulting in conditional volatility. Third, the estimated market beta of the GARCH (1, 2), AR (1)-GARCH (1), and MA (1)-GARCH (1, 2) models were also less than 1 at 0.8819, 0.8835, and 0.8775 respectively, showing that there is no systematic risk. Finally, in terms of efficiency, GARCH model was more efficient because the standard error of a market beta was less than that of the OLS model. Among the GARCH models, the MA (1)-GARCH (1, 2) model considering non-simultaneous transactions was estimated to be the most appropriate model.

Public Building Value Evaluation Using Contingent Valuation Method Based on Market Value Estimation

  • Building deterioration reflects the degradation of basic building performance including structural performance, energy performance, durability, and safety, and it also includes perceived deterioration, which considers a user-based perspective. More than 50% of the existing buildings in Korea are over 15 years old and public buildings compose 2.5% of all buildings domestically. Therefore, there are several different problems, such as poor energy efficiency, structural performance, and safety. To address the challenges of increasing stock in deteriorated buildings, it is necessary to make decisions about reconstruction or renovation. In this study, we propose a new method to evaluate public building value with a contingent valuation method (CVM). By estimating willing-to-pay (WTP) from users of private buildings in similar situation with the public building, it is possible to compare market prices and calculate a correction factor to adjust the WTP data. Finally, we apply the correction factor to the WTP of a public building and estimate market price, willingness to pay (WTP).   • The purpose of this study is to find the component factors and attributes of visual store environment and to suggest visual merchandising strategies which fit for fashion retail store in Korean traditional market. For the study, observation and in-depth interview were executed for consumers who had purchase experiences at Korean traditional market in city area. The results were as follows. First, the component factors of visual store environment for Korean traditional market were external factor, internal factor, and structural factor. Second, the attributes of visual store environment in Korean traditional market were approach convenience, cleanness, attractiveness, publicity, efficiency, and informativeness. On the basis of these six attributes, real states of fashion retail store in Korean traditional market were analyzed. This study has a meaning in confirming the possibility of differential approach method on the basis of the attributes of visual store environment in Korean traditional market.
