Research on the Health Status of the Life-Insureds by the THI (생명보험 가입자의 THI 건강조사)

  • This study is a series of reviews in connection with the application of the Questionnaire THI, in order to intend to provide such datum to be of a help as the screening-test by means of getting through comparative analysis, and finding out existence of any disease appeared as a result of the general medical examinations, and the psychosomatic symptoms, through the questionnaire THI. This study had been researched through the 507 insureds of the life insurance residing in Seoul and in the suburbs of Seoul, during the period 5 Jan. 1987 to 27 Feb. through the questionnaires. Exception of the 88 insincere respondents out of the total objectives, the 419 questionnaires were nanlized through percentage, Mean, T-test, ANOVA test, and Discriminant Analysis. 1. The Subjective Health Problem of the Objectives: The average of the health problem appliation quorum appeared to be 1. 81, the articles of both nervousness and aggressiveness appeared to be each 2.25 and 2.04. It tells that the state of appliation is heavy. It was very significant statistically the relation between the elements of sex, ages, educational backgrounds and occupations. 2. The result of the General Examination of the Objectives: The number of the persons with abnormal findings was 300 persons among the total of 419 persons as a result of the general medical examinations, and it was applicable to $73.5\%$. By each age and marital state were statistically significant. 3. Comparison of the result of the General Examination and Subjective Health of those Objectives: As a result of discriminant analysis of the independent variables through the result of the general examination, the greatest element for influence appeared to be the age, and then, regular examination, sex, and the somatic complaints of the THI in order. Accordingly, it is considered to be able to function as the screening test of the general examination, the THI. In case of a greater unit of group required a medical examination, It is considered to be of a help for the health management service for more effective and precise in quality and economic, only if a medical examination is carried out after selecting the somatic subjective problem and research in advance to the application of the THI prior to the examination.

Oral Health Practices of Some Local Child Care Teachers Oral Health Education Awareness and Need Survey (일부 지역 보육교사의 구강건강관련 실천도 및 구강보건교육 인식도·필요도 조사)

  • Purpose. Infant oral health care forms the basis of lifelong health, and the role of child care teachers in contributing to the quality level in the formation of correct habits at this time throughout the infant's health care and education is very important. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the perceived oral health status of nursery teachers and the necessity of oral health education, and to emphasize that the oral health of teachers is closely related to the oral health of infants and young children. Methods. This study was conducted from May to June 2018 by surveying private nursery teachers in some parts of Gyeongsangbuk-do province by using the self-entry method. The research tools consisted of the general characteristics of subjects, subjective oral health status, oral health practice, oral health education awareness, and oral health education needs. We used shceffe as a post hoc test to compare the differences between groups after frequency analysis, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA analysis. The linear regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between perceived oral health status, oral health practice and awareness, and oral health education needs. The statistical level was .05. Results. According to the results of this study, the oral health related practice according to the demographic characteristics is at the final education level, and the oral health related awareness is age, marital status and oral health education needs. The results showed statistically significant differences in final educational attainment and cohabitation. Regarding the relationship between perceived oral health status, oral health related practice and awareness, and oral health education needs There were significant differences in oral health practice(β =.329) and oral health education needs (β =.158). Conclusion. Based on the above results, the child care facility can emphasize the importance of the role of the child care teacher in the oral health care of infants, and the basic data for the establishment of the child care management program in the future by reflecting the role of the teacher in the development of the child care management program of the child care facility. Convergence Effects of Nurse's Perception of Patient Safety Culture and Safety Control on Safety Performance in General Hospital (종합병원 간호사의 환자안전문화 인식과 안전통제감이 안전이행에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • This descriptive study was aimed to identify factors which influence safety performance through evaluation of nurse's perception of patient safety culture and safety control in general hospital. Self-administered web surveys were conducted by 342 nurses who employed in general hospital from May 09 to May 13, 2014. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 statistical program. The results of analysis revealed that the score of safety culture perception was 3.34, safety control was 3.50, safety performance was 3.53 and all scores were higher level than usual. There were significant positive correlation between safety performance and perception of patient safety culture, safety control (r=.463~.645, p<.001). The positively influencing factors of safety performance are marital status, frequency of accident reports, general perception of patient safety and safety control. Explanation ratio of the variables for the safety performance was 52.0% in this study(F=4.252, p=.004). This study findings suggest that it would be useful as a preliminary report of nurse's intervention strategy through confirmation of the nurse's positive effect to improve safety performance in general hospital.

The Impact of Doctors' Communication Styles on Patient Satisfaction: Empirical Examination (의사의 커뮤니케이션 스타일이 환자만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • These days, the environment of hospital marketing is changing rapidly. The level of expectation and demand of patients have become greater and more diversified, and patients have more alternatives in selecting hospitals. The standard of hospital selection and the type of using hospital have been changed, and competition among hospitals has been accelerated due to the opening of the medical market through globalization. Accordingly, differentiation strategies are critical in hospital marketing. The quality of medical service oriented toward patient satisfaction becomes a strong strategic weapon to secure a hospital's competitive advantage. Therefore, marketing and communication strategies should be focused on patient-oriented, rather than hospital-oriented. Considering the changes in the hospital environment and the increase in the patients' expectation level, this study categorizes doctors' communication styles into four different ones: trust-type, professional-type, cooperation-type, and control-type. The effects of these communication styles on patient satisfaction were empirically examined. The moderating roles of the patient's characteristics and clinical characteristics between the doctors' communication styles and patient satisfaction were also investigated to find out managerial implications for hospital management. To achieve such goals, data were collected from patients of 12 general hospitals in Busan. The data were analyzed to test research hypotheses that examine 1) the relationships between doctors' communication styles and patient satisfaction, 2) the moderating roles of the patient characteristics and clinical characteristics in the research model, and 3) the impact of patient satisfaction on positive word-of-mouth and repurchase. The following summarizes the major results of this research. First, the data showed that patient satisfaction varied across doctors' communication styles. Trust-type style had the strongest impact on patient satisfaction while control-type style had the weakest influence on patient satisfaction. Professional-type style and cooperation-type style also had positive effects on patient satisfaction but the impact of the two are not statistically different. Second, significant differences in terms of patient satisfaction were found depending upon demographic variables such as gender, marital status, age, occupation, and education. Patient satisfaction, however, was consistent across varying income groups. Third, patients' medical insurance types were also related to patient satisfaction. It implies that a doctor may need to use different communication styles depending on a patient's medical insurance type. Fourth, out-patient and in-patient showed a different level of satisfaction with varying communication styles. Fifth, highly professional knowledge and strong control can influence patient satisfaction depending on the characteristics of the patient treatment field. Sixth, patient satisfaction were proved to have significantly positive effects on word-of-mouth and repurchase. The implications drawn from this study must be tempered by its limitations. First of all, the subjects used in this study were patients in Busan and small- and medium-size hospitals were excluded from the research. Therefore, future research should examine the research model by using a variety of hospitals and clinics throughout Korea. Another research agenda has to do with finding more determinant and moderating variables which will increase an explanatory power of the model. In short, this study may be the first empirical research that investigates the effects of doctors' communication styles on patient satisfaction. Interestingly enough, the results showed that each communication style had a unique impact on patient satisfaction. The findings from this research can be very useful in developing hospital marketing strategies.

The Knowledge and Educational Needs of Stroke among the Caregivers (뇌졸중 환자 가족의 지식 및 교육 요구도)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the development of family education program for stroke patients by investigating the degree of knowledge and educational needs of stroke patients. The subjects of the research were 116 families of the stroke patients at 3 rehabilitation hospitals located in the city G. In the data analysis, knowledge related to stroke and education needs were analyzed by independent t-test and ANOVA. Post-test was analyzed by Tukey test. As a results, the general knowledge about stroke was 4.54 points out of the total of 6 points, and there was a statistically significant difference in religion and education level. The full score of the symptoms knowledge of stroke was 15 points. Stroke - related symptom knowledge was a total score of 15 points out of 10.34 points, and there was a significant difference according to degree of education and monthly income. The knowledge of risk factors related to stroke was 8.98 points out of a total of 16 points and there were significant differences in education level, marital status and occupation. Educational needs were measured as 4.70 points on the scale of 5 points, which showed significant difference in education level and income. This study suggests the development of educational programs for families of different stroke patients to improve the quality of nursing care of stroke patients considering their knowledge and general needs for their knowledge and education needs of stroke patients.

Convergence Research on Relationships among the inhibiting factors of Dying Well (웰다잉 저해 요인의 관련성에 관한 융합 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the inhibiting factors of dying well for people who want to have a good death. The final respondents in this study were sampled using stratified proportional allocation using a stratified random sampling method, and 1,000 adults aged between 19 and 75 years were selected. The questionnaire used consisted of four items on general characteristics and 20 items related to the inhibiting factors of dying well scored on a 7-point Likert scale. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and decision tree analysis. Results showed that, among the inhibiting factors of dying well, "degenerative diseases (such as dementia)" and "loss of control (mental / physical)" scored 5.502 and 5.268 points, respectively; the highest significant positive correlation was found between "bad marital relationship" and "bad relationship with children," followed by "did not receive death education" and "lack of medical policy promotion (dying well)" and "bad relationship with children" and "indifference of others." Considering these findings, it appears that the whole society will make efforts to improve the perception and practice of good death, and life and death education will be expanded if death education for dying well is organized and implemented.

The relationship between the professional self-concept of dental hygiene and organizational socialization (치과위생사의 전문직 자아개념과 조직사회화의 관련성)

  • Background: Based on the individualistic approach of experienced dental hygienists, this study attempted to provide basic data to find effective measures of human resource management by analyzing the correlation between organizational socialization and professional self-concept. Methods: Dental hygienists currently working in the Daegu area were evaluated. Nine questions related to duties, twenty-seven questions related to professional self-concept, and thirty-eight questions related to organizational socialization were included in the study. The reliability was professional self-concept (Cronbach's α = 0.859) and organizational socialization (Cronbach's α = 0.840). Results: Of the total 135 points for professional self-concept, the mean score of the participants was 62.67±8.45 points. In the sub-area, flexibility was the highest at 19.28±2.46 points, and communication was the lowest at 9.69±1.44 points. Of 190 points, organizational socialization averaged at 123.40±12.82 points. In the subarea, personal characteristics were the highest at 30.37±3.71 points, and occupational identity was the lowest at 10.34±1.94. Higher age (F=30.89, p<0.000), marital status (F=10.22, p<0.002), graduate or higher educational qualification (F=9.16, p<0.000), were associated with a higher position (F=20.62, p<0.000) and work experience (F=22.66, p<0.0000), when there was no intention to turnover (F=8.05, p<0.000). Organizational socialization was higher in participants with higher age (F=7.89, p<0.000), educational qualification (F=8.02, p<0.000), and position (F=5.12, p<0.007); higher work experience in general hospital (F=4.50, p<0.012); no intention to turnover (F=7.450, p<0.000); and no intention to turnover (F=24.46, p<0.000). Organizational socialization showed a significant positive correlation with professional self-concept (r=0.721, p<0.000); job performance and skills (r=0.615, p<0.000) and organizational commitment and satisfaction (r=0.610, p<0.000) showed a high positive correlation. Turnover intention (β=0.213, p<0.000) was found to have a significant effect on organizational socialization. Leadership (β=0.168, p<0.05) and satisfaction (β=0.483, p<0.000) were found to have a significant effect. The total explanatory power of this variable was 62.7%. Conclusion: To ensure successful organizational socialization, human resource management should be performed through regular verification, which can result in improved quality of dental care services.

A Comparative Study on Consumers' Perception of National Food Plan (국가 푸드플랜에 대한 소비자의 인식 수준 비교 연구)

  • The government is emphasizing for a National Food Plan with the aim of establishing a system that can supply healthy and high-quality food to the people. Since consumers' interest and participation are important in vitalizing local food plans, comparative studies on consumer perceptions of food plans are needed. Accordingly, the purpose of the study is to enhance consumers' awareness and understanding of food plans, and to investigate and analyze their perceptions of agriculture and rural areas, and agricultural food consumption behavior according to the level of consumer awareness. As a result of the analysis, consumers were classified into three groups based on the food plan-related awareness score. In terms of marital status unmarried people had a high proportion in the lower group, and married people had a high proportion in the upper group. The higher the perception of food plans, the higher the perception of the importance of eco-friendly or animal welfare foods and the importance of brands when purchasing agricultural and livestock products. The higher the awareness of food plans, the higher the interest of all aspects of food plans. In this study, it can be seen that there were differences in demographic characteristics according to the food plan recognition level groups, in awareness of food plan-related agriculture, and agricultural food product consumption behavior.

The Study on the Effect of Basic Pension on Subjective Well-being of the Elderly (기초연금 수급이 고령자의 주관적 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine that basic pension entitlement affects the subjective well-being(SWB) of the elderly. For controlling unobserved heterogeneity, we used fixed effects model for longitudinal data. The data used for this study is KLoSA from 2006 to 2016. The research results are as follows. SWB of non-basic pensioners was higher than for basic pension beneficiaries. Second, when the demographic variables were controlled, SWB of the basic pension recipients was higher then that of non-beneficiaries. Third, the factors affecting SWB were economic satisfaction, marital status, family financial support, employment status, subjective health status, daily life restrictions, gender, and age. Fourth, the effect of basic pension on SWB was positive at the lowest income quartile. The results of this study shows that the basic pension system has a positive effect on the SWB of elderly despite the low benefit level. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the basic pension system to solve poverty problems and improve the quality of life for the aged. Also, various aspects of social support for the low-income vulnerable elderly are needed. Lastly, It was suggested that the benefit level of the basic pension should be raised to have a substantial effect on the low-income class, which is a key policy subject.

A Study on the Awareness of Female-Consumers for Nutrition Labeling System (영양표시 제도에 대한 여성소비자 인식에 관한 연구)

  • This study had carried out to investigate the usage status of customer, the positive effects and problems, and the most important items of the nutrition labeling at purchasing the food etc. on the current nutrition labeling system in order to establish the customer-centric nutrition labeling system. Survey was carried out by questionnaire method that is targeted on adult female above 20 years old in Seoul and Kyeongnam area from May to June, 2004. For the experience of checking the nutrition label of the processed domestic and imported processed food, 82% and 75.4% of the respondents were replied 'have checked' respectively. For the positive effects due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'easy to compare with other products' and 'improve the products quality'. For the problems of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'different criteria for each product' and 'incendiary purchasing due to false or exaggerated labeling', and gave the higher scale for the positive effects than the problems relatively. For the necessity of the nutrition labeling system, 96.2% of the respondents were replied 'necessary', and it was indicated a significant difference on age and marital status(p<.01). For the price rising due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, 55.2% of respondents agreed, and it was indicated a very significant difference on age and monthly income(p<.001). For the most important nutrition labeling items at purchasing the food, the respondents were replied 'total calorie' on most of the food, and in addition, they checked carefully the lipid, cholesterol, protein, Ca, and Fe.
