  • The area of agriculture and fisheries business are expanding according to changes in the agriculture and fisheries environment. For the direction of long-term practical field training of department of Agriculture and Fisheries Business, which is a newly created department of Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries, production as well as other areas must be reviewed. The original long-term practical field training and the direction of selecting a long-term practical field training appropriate for the new department reviewed in this study are as follow. First, the original long-term practical field training can be summarized as single product-focused management, inadequate connection of production-processing-service areas, and individuality-focused management. However, a case management that sees new value creation as a basis of agricultural development can be summarized as diversification of value creation, horizontal integration, entrepreneurial management through corporate management, and leading management for regional revitalization through connecting local agricultural. Therefore, the direction of selecting the new department's long-term practical field training requires seeking of value creation management through horizontal integration, exploration of agricultural businessmen who have entrepreneurship needed to create added value in agriculture, and a way to connect to the original production-centered long-term practical field training.

  • The objective of this paper is to analyze management performance of organic farming management organizations in the large-scale environment-friendly agricultural districts, focusing on cases of organic farming organizations in Chungnam Asan city and Gyeongnam Sancheong-gun which are leading regions in Korean organic agriculture. The management performance in Asan Organic Farming Organization showed that ratio of operating gain to revenue in 2008~2009 increased by 1.2% point compared to in 2006~2007. The management performance in Sancheong Organic Farming Organization showed revenue gain by KRW 2 million in 2009 whereas it suffered a loss by KRW 24 million in 2008. The management performances implied that the amount of financial performance was not yet large and would be a symbol for soundly developing organic farming organization. This paper suggested that network system, recycling agriculture, and the enlargement of processing industry would be very useful to maximize synergy effect in organic farming organizations in a large-scale environment-friendly agricultural districts.

  • Agriculture plays an industrial and economic role, as well as an environmental and ecological conservation role, group harmony and the inheritance of traditional culture. However, no matter how advanced the industry is, the basic food necessary for human life can only be produced through the photosynthesis of plants with natural resources such as the sun, water, and air. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) predicts that the world's population will increase by another 2 billion people by 2050, and it faces a myriad of complex and diverse factors to consider, including climate change, food security concerns, and global ecosystems and political factors. In particular, in order to solve problems such as increasing productivity and production of agricultural products, improving quality, and saving energy, it is difficult to solve them with traditional farming methods. Recently, with the wind of the 4th industrial revolution, ICT convergence technology and artificial intelligence have been rapidly developing in many fields, but it is also true that the application of new technologies is somewhat delayed due to the unique characteristics of agriculture. However, in recent years, as ICT and artificial intelligence utilization technologies have been developed and applied by many researchers, a revolution is also taking place in agriculture. This paper summarizes the current state of research so far in four categories of agriculture, namely crop cultivation environment management, soil management, pest management, and irrigation management, and smart farm research data that has recently been actively developed around the world.

  • Production cost in agricultural accounting has been utilized as an index for determining appropriate prices of agricultural products, establishing agricultural policies and providing extension services for farmers. However, it is necessary for the concept of cost accounting to introduce in establishing farm planning and consulting farmers' management. In this paper, I review problems associated with costing rules which are considered as criterion for accounting cost in agriculture and suggest directions for cost accounting in agricultural management.

  • This study was conducted to develop software which provides automatic site-specific field data acquisition, data processing, data mapping and management for precision agriculture. The developed software supports acquisition and processing of both digital and analog data streams. The architecture was object-oriented and each component in the architecture was developed as a separate class. In precision agriculture research, the laborious task of manual ground-truth data collection will be avoided using the developed software. In addition, gathering high-density data eliminates the need for interpolation of values for un-sampled areas. This software shows good potential for expansion and compatibility for variable-rate-application (VRA). The FIM (Field Information Management) computer program provides the user with an easy-to-follow process for field information management for precision agriculture.

  • $HpaG_{Xooc}$, from rice pathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola, is a member of the harpin group of proteins, eliciting hypersensitive cell death in non-host plants, inducing disease and insect resistance in plants, and enhancing plant growth. To express and secret the $HpaG_{Xooc}$ protein in Bacillus subtilis, we constructed a recombinant expression vector pM43HF with stronger promoter P43 and signal peptide element nprB. The SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis demonstrated the expression of the protein $HpaG_{Xooc}$ in B. subtilis. The ELISA analysis determined the optimum condition for $HpaG_{Xooc}$ expression in B. subtilis WBHF. The biological function analysis indicated that the protein $HpaG_{Xooc}$ from B. subtilis WBHF elicits hypersensitive response(HR) and enhances the growth of tobacco. The results of RT-PCR analysis revealed that $HpaG_{Xooc}$ induces expression of the pathogenesis-related genes PR-1a and PR-1b in plant defense response.

  • Nigrospora is a monophyletic genus belonging to Apiosporaceae. Species in this genus are phytopathogenic, endophytic, and saprobic on different hosts. In this study, leaf specimens with disease symptoms were collected from host plants from the Shandong Peninsula, China. The fungal taxa associated with these leaf spots were studied using morphology and phylogeny based on ITS, TEF1, and TUB2 gene regions. In this article, we report on the genus Nigrospora with N. gorlenkoana, N. oryzae, N. osmanthi, N. rubi, and N. sphaerica identified with 13 novel host associations including crops with economic importance such as bamboo and Chinese rose.
