  • Open access journal has been one of the major academic information sources for researcherscharacterizing itself as free resource. Recently, as competition among academic information service provides becomes intense, open access journal also needs to enhance its service and expand information service function. This study aims to propose service features for next generation service of open access journals by analyzing service features of leading journal database services. As a result, four service features are suggested such as journal article components and multimedia features, expanded searching features, social service features and mobile information service.

  • Purpose: This study is an integrative review to analyze articles about sex education for school age children in Korean journals. This study explored the year, methods, major variables and key findings of previous studies. Methods: Five electronic databases and eleven journals of nursing in Korean language were searched to find studies done until 2017. 75 papers published from 1995 to 2017 were selected (43 were survey studies and 32 were intervention studies). Results: Among the intervention studies, there was no Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) study. Most intervention studies were conducted to change sexual knowledge and sexual attitudes. Among the survey studies, Q methodology and content analysis were used. The subjects' sexual knowledge and sexual consciousness were measured low in some studies. The sex education for school age children was composed of elementary school students' perception, understanding and needs related to sex. In addition, sex education was carried out to improve students' informational aspects such as sexual knowledge, prevention of sexual violence and secondary sexual character as well as emotional aspects such as sexual attitude. However, research on sexual consciousness, sexual values and sexual identity was insufficient. Conclusion: In order to develop an effective sex education program for school age children, it is necessary to consider the degree of their perception, understanding and needs and reflect both the social and cultural aspects as well as the informational and emotional aspects.

  • The lack of international research networks in Asia has been a major barrier in bridging scattered Asian academic societies. As a result, most researchers in Asia are not familiar with which journals they can access for their research, nor where they can submit their valuable research manuscripts. Asian Marketing Journal (AMJ) and the International Conference of Asian Marketing Associations (ICAMA), both of which are managed by Asian scholars for Asian scholars, are expected to take on such roles to make a significant contribution to Asian academic societies by encouraging them to study and share research topics that are more relevant and helpful to Asian market studies that come from an Asian researcher's perspective. This study aims to acknowledge and explain the successful settlement of the International Conference of Asian Marketing Associations (ICAMA) and its representative journal, Asia Marketing Journal (AMJ), by discussing how ICAMA and AMJ were created, why they are necessary to Asian researchers, and what goals they hope to achieve. Another, arguably more important objective of this study is to provide Asian researchers with information on what topics Asian academia has been researching since 2000, and guide researchers as to which journals in Asian academia can publish their marketing research papers.

  • Purpose: Purpose of this study was to identify major trends of action research from 2006 to 2013 and suggest directions for activating and advancing domestic action research in nursing. Methods: A review was made of 118 action research studies in hospital settings reported in international journals. Search from PubMed, Ovid, and CINHAL was done using analysis criteria developed by the researchers. General and methodological characteristics and focus on changing outcomes of action research were analyzed. Results: The major group of researchers belonged to colleges/universities (40.7%). Methods included use of qualitative methods (61.0%), research questions (24.6%), and use of theoretical models (35.6%). Prevalent data collection methods were interviews (20.2%), and 48.3% showed more than a 1-cycle process including spiral circulation structure. Focus of changing outcomes of the 56 papers including more than 1-cycle were practice (66.1%), environment (8.9%), client-nurse (7.1%). Conclusion: Trends in action research in nursing were identified providing necessary reasons to increase action research in nursing as follows: needs of various researchers including stakeholders as well as healthcare providers, various research designs including unconstrained reflection and writing, specific presentation of adapted theoretical models and action strategies, and quality assurance for validity and reliability of research processes and outcomes.

Subjects of exercise intervention studies were demonstrated that patients were 55.6% while healthy person was 44.4%. Exercise type by the subjects which demonstrated the highest proportion was dance movement for the elderly, walking for the middle aged women and aqua exercise for the arthritis. The 40 papers(49.4%) included exercise duration, frequency and time for the exercise program which demonstrated the highest proportion. Outcome variables to determine the effect of exercise intervention were demonstrated to be physical function, physiological index, psychological and emotional variables, cardiopulmonary function, body composition, physical symptoms, variables related to exercise and behavior in order. Conclusion: Half of the exercise intervention papers included exercise duration, frequency, time and intensity for the exercise program. Frequently used outcome variables to determine the effect of exercise intervention were demonstrated to be physical function, physiological index and psychological emotional variables.

  • This study recommends the evaluation measures and indicators to evaluate the operations and performance of each Foreign Research Information Centers (FRIC) established to support the effective and efficient use of the foreign academic journals at the national level. The indicators are comprised by 3 major sections, subdivided into 35 sub-indexes. Each of indicators is scored according to the weights derived from the AHP survey to the related researchers and the practitioners. As a result, total score of 1,000 is distributed to 3 major sections of operational strategy section (190), operational systems section (440), and operational outcomes (370). Based on the evaluation indicators, measure dictionary is developed, followed by preliminary tests both by the parent organization and by each centers, in order to check the feasibility of the measurement.

  • This study examined the frequency, format, and activity of Internet references of four major journals in Library and Information Science in Korea. Sampled articles of each journal were published during 2002-2009. The results show five implications. 1) Overall 15.5% of all references were Internet references. 2) The number of Internet references has continuously increased since 2002. 3) The type of Internet references were most commonly "web document(84.3%), followed by" PDF(14%). 4) Nearly 55% of Internet reference were ".or(org)" and ".ac(edu))". 5) The percentage of inactive Internet references increased from 34.4% at 3 years to 44.1% at 5 years and to 53.3% at 10 years after publication. Although this study may not be representative of the entire field, it shows that Internet references occurred frequently and were often inaccessible within years after publication.
