A Method for Determining Appropriate Maintenance Intervals of Equipments in Thermal Power Stations

  • Reliable maintenance scheduling of main equipments is a crucial problem in thermal power stations in order to skirt overall losses of power generation resulted from severe failures of the equipments. A reasonable method was proposed to determine the maintenance scheduling of whole pump system in thermal power stations in order to reduce the maintenance cost by keeping the present avail-ability of the pump system throughout the operation. The dimensional reduction method was used to solve problems encountered due to few data which involved many operational factors in failure rate of pumps. The problem of bandlimited nature of data with time was solved by extrapolating future failures from presently available actual data with an aid of Weibull distribution. The results of the analysis identified the most suitable maintenance intervals of each pump type accordingly and hence reduce the cost of unnecessary maintenance with an acceptable range in the overall system availability.

  • The present volume should address the unique method of deterioration analysis tailorly applicable to the study of traction motor, not existent maintenance works system with the time period standard, such as regular inspection works, maintenance works, selection for the repair works. The present volume has executed various field experiments in this method, should propose the procedures and baselines for anticipating the life expansion of traction motor and building precautional maintenance system for it, on the basis of these field experiments. The improvement scheme of traction motor maintenance system in the present volume should be to keep the out-of-order rate from unexpectedly soaring and make the cost-reduction effect through better maintenance work method.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a method to calculate the optimal preventive maintenance cycle of radar used in the aviation weapon system of ROKAF. Methods: A hybrid model is used to estimate the optimal preventive maintenance cycle in a system that can perform condition based predictive maintenance (CBPM) through continuous diagnosis. The failure data of the radars operating in the military were used to calculate the reliability. Results: According to the research results, the reliability threshold of the radar began to decrease after 5 flights, and decreased rapidly after 12 flights. Since the second check, costs have continued to decline. Conclusion: A method is proposed to determine the cycle of optimal preventive maintenance of radar within operational budget through modeling results between reliability limit and cost for radar. The results can be used to determine the optimal preventive maintenance cycle and frequency of various avionics equipment.

  • This paper proposes optimal maintenance strategies for power distribution systems that involve the use of the reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) method. We developed an improved decision model based on the Markov process. This model can obtain the optimal inspection interval and maintenance method based on the total expected cost. We used ordinal optimization for solving the optimal problem. Optimal maintenance strategies were presented by applying the developed method to the RBTS model. A B/C analysis proved that these strategies offer maximum benefit-to-cost.

  • The distribution live-line work method is an operation method of working in a state in which electricity flows through overhead distribution lines to minimize inconvenience to electric customers due to power failure. In June 2016, to strengthen the safety of electrical workers, Korea Electric Power Corporation announced that it would in principle abolish the rubber glove method, in which workers wore protective equipment such as rubber gloves and performed their maintenance work. In addition, KEPCO announced that it would develop a short-range live working method using smart sticks and an advanced live-line maintenance robot system where workers work without touching wires directly. This paper is a preliminary study for the development of the live-line maintenance robot system, and deals with the results of analyzing the technical feasibility of whether the live works performed by workers can be replaced by robots or not.

  • Wind power is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources. In these days, wind turbine shifts from onshore to offshore because the offshore wind farm has a abundant wind resource. However, offshore wind turbine is not easy to access, it has a long downtime when the failures of the wind turbine component occur. Therefore, the appropriate wind turbine maintenance plan is required to meet the economic and reliability of the components. This paper proposes the maintenance planning method based on the RCM(Reliability Centered Maintenance) to determine an economical maintenance cycle to satisfy the appropriate reliability of the wind turbine components. In order to compare the proposed method with the conventional RCM method, critical components are selected in the case study because they have a long downtime and a large amount of total cost.

  • In lighting design, the calculation of maintenance factor is performed by calculation considering light source, characteristics of luminaire and environmental factors. The method to calculate the current maintenance factor applied to tunnel lighting design takes into consideration only pollution factors in tunnels. In addition, the calculation method should be change in response to changes of tunnel conditions and used light sources. In this study, the calculated factor of the maintenance factor in tunnel is determine by four calculation factors generally applied to the calculation of maintenance factor. This study examined the method of calculating the maintenance factor of tunnel lighting that can be applied according to the installation conditions in designing tunnel lighting by applying the actual installation data of luminaire.

  • In general, it is known that the concrete ballast track is possible to reduce a cost of maintenance activities cause of maintenance free by restrictive maintenance in application of track ballast structures. However, if deteriorations and fracture mechanism of a material are considered, proper maintenance activities and repairing are continually required. For the problems, we evaluated an economical efficiency of the gravel ballast and the concrete ballast on a proper level of maintenance activities. As the method based on history path is difficult to obtain sufficient reliabilities cause of an absence of real data for maintenance activities, we chose the delphi survey method by professional group, and we obtained the appropriate index and profiles for maintenance activities. As a result, we founded that effects for cost reduction can be expected by preventive maintenance management, and we proposed economical restrictions and life cycle cost for track ballast structures in a life cycle.

연성포장의 예방적 유지보수공법에 대한 현장 적용성 연구 (A Study on Field Application of Preventive Maintenance Method for Flexible Pavements)

  • 본 연구는 예방적 유지보수공법의 한가지 방법으로서 최소단면 보수공법을 제안 하였다. 최소단면 보수공법은 아스팔트 포장도로의 종방향 파손(소성변형, 종방향 균열)에 대한 보수공법으로 차량의 주행특성을 통계적 분석으로 추론하여 최소 유효보수범위를 70cm로 산정하였으며, 포장도로의 파손 정도에 따라 유효보수범위 변화를 고려할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 최소단면 보수공법의 현장 적용성을 시험하기 위하여 시험포장을 하였으며, 시험포장 결과 일정 수준의 공용성을 회복하는 것으로 나타났다. 향후, 본 최소단면 보수공법의 적절한 활용은 연성포장의 합리적 보수공법 중 한 가지가 될 수 있을 것으로 판단되며 연성 포장의 유지보수 및 관리에 대한 장기적 측면에서 볼 때 포장수명 연장과 유지보수비절감 효과가 있을 것으로 예상된다.

예방적 최소단면 보수공법 적용 아스팔트 도로포장의 유지관리 비용분석 (An Analysis of Maintenance Cost of Preventive Optimized-Rehabilitation Area Method in Asphalt Concrete Pavement)

  • 본 논문에서는 예방적 유지보수 공법으로서 최소단면 보수공법의 경제성을 분석하였다. 최소단면 보수공법은 차량의 주행 특성을 근거로 하여 적용하였다. 최소단면 보수공법의 한 차로당 유효보수범위는 각 차륜 통과부인 70 cm이며, 주행차량 특성 분석에 따르면 각 차륜통과 범위 내에서 95%이상의 차량이 주행한다. 최소단면 보수공법은 기존의 유지보수공법보다 유지보수비용이 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며 교통정체 감소에 따른 사용자 비용도 감소한다. 본 연구결과 총 유지보수비용은 최소단면 보수공법을 적용함으로서 기존의 유지보수공법에 비해 35%감소하는 것으로 나타났다.
