The revitalization of e-business via Internet brings big changes to the postal business, and leads to a tremendous increase of heavy and large sized postal mails with continuing growth of home delivery business. Thus, even though the number of intermediate storages for mail delivery that mailmen use for picking up mails in the middle of mail delivery has been being increased, it has still many problems such as insufficient number and size of the storages as well as avoidance of mail keeping of trust agents. It is necessary that safety of mail keeping, seamless mail delivery, and individual parcel pick-up process reestablishment should be made through an improved counter plan for the problems described previously. This study presents the efficient and right operational plan for the intermediate storage for mail delivery with providing the number and size of intermediate storages per mail delivery sequence according to four different types of post offices.

TAn E-Mail system is one of the most important services for enterprise and electronic commerce end users on the Internet. However, security for an E-Mail service is not satisfied yet, an E-Mail system with security service is definitely required especially in electronic commerce system. In this paper, an E-Mail system with confirmation of e-mail delivery is proposed, The certification of delivery of E-Mail message is not provided in conventional E-Mail systems. The proposed E-Mail system is composed of this certification of delivery and basic security services. The certification of delivery can prove sender's E-Mail message is securely sent to legitimate receivers. The system is designed and implemented by Java Cryptography API.

For swiftness and economic feasibility of parcel delivery, optimal location of mail exchanging centers considering not only section delivery distance but also some weights like the number of delivery vehicles are necessary. In this paper, a mechanism with section delivery distance and vehicle number for locating of mail distribution centers which connect some mail centers of major cities in Republic Korea by applying GOSST theory is proposed. This mechanism for locating mail exchange centers can make the total delivery distance of postal matters less than not only present method which assigns Daejun as mail exchange center, but also Steiner tree method which does not consider weights like number of delivery vehicles. The mechanism is good for protecting the environment as well as rapid and economic delivery. In experiment, the proposed mechanism could curtail total delivery distance by 2.52 percentages compared with Steiner tree method and by 6.66 percentages compared with present method. The mechanism may be used in electric power transmission routing, distribution line topology design, power relay station locating where various voltages and other weights should be considered.

To solve the internal security problem such as human error and bad faith, the automation of computer system management is significant. For this purpose, we focus attention in the automation of Mail Delivery Service. Today, requirement for reliable mail delivery system becomes larger and larger. However, existing systems are too strict about their configuration. Hence, we propose the method based on Reinforcement Learning (RL) to achieve proper MX record ordering. A measure on validity of the design of system, such as network topology number of servers and so on, is also obtained as side benefit. In order to verify the usability of the presented method, we did on a small model of mail delivery system. As a result, we show that RL is available for determination of the proper MX record ordering. Additionally, we suggest that it is also available for comparing validity of setting of MTA and the network design.

Recently, ordinary mail is decreasing continuously by the development of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) including E-mail, messenger service, and etc. On the contrary, parcel post is increasing by the increase of online shopping, home shopping, and etc. Aside from these changes, the demand for various mail acceptance and delivery means is increasing with the increase of single households and dual-income couples. To overcome these environmental changes, Korea Post installs unmanned post offices which are composed of various unmanned mail acceptance and delivery postal systems. In this paper, we propose the methodological approach for the site selection of unmanned post office among the existing post offices and the installation standard of unmanned postal system considering the operation cost by the mail volume.

Performance measures play a critical role in formulating mail delivery strategies and evaluating actual results. Nevertheless, the existing method and corresponding system to determine the standard workloads of mailmen is developed without careful consideration of real delivery environments and various requirements of mailmen. Hence, the current system is insufficient for optimal management of workloads and shows substantial gaps when compared to the results of actual work-site. This study considers how to improve the current workload management system of mailmen. We first performed the as-is analysis of the mail delivery service and then developed a prototype of advanced delivery workload management system. The to-be system consists of five subsystems which can be grouped into three categories; master data management, workloads management, performance analysis. Our results can be a valuable guide for the development of real system for measuring and balancing the workloads of mailmen.

This paper introduces the methodology for restrict adjustment of 25 mail sorting centers including 3 new mail sorting centers to balance their work loads and minimize their operating costs. We calculated the capacity of mail sorting centers considering mail types and analyzed the collection/delivery mail volume of 214 post offices to measure the work loads of mail sorting centers. We also developed the mathematical model and genetic algorithm to find the optimal solution for this problem.

In this paper, We implemented the E-mail system with Certification of Delivery that was not provided in prior mail system with basic security services and can prove that sender's document is properly sent to the intended receipt. And an implementation of the system used Java Cryptography API.

Certified e-mail system guarantees that recipient will get mail content if and only if mall originator receives a receipt. Unlike previous schemes, Optimistic protocols recently published generate a receipt when it meets the condition that the mail content can be accessed by recliner at any time. So originator cannot assure the delivery of e-mail although he can get a receipt. In this paper, we show some flaws in optimistic protocols and propose improved schemes using delivery deadline. Modified protocols guarantee proof-of-receipt and eliminate the problem mentioned above. Furthermore, proposed modification technique can be applicable to most optimistic protocols and is efficient in the sense that modified schemes do not increase the number of messages.

This study evaluates the problems with various aspects of Korean mail carrier uniforms. It is sponsored by the as part of a 2002 research project. This research project is 'A study on mail collection and delivery environment based on ergonomics'. One of the most urgent tasks to create a better work environment is improvement of mail carrier uniforms. Improved uniforms will result in improved job performance and satisfaction.
