The electrical/thermal stabilities and magnetic field controllability of a no-insulation (NI) high-temperature superconducting magnet are characterized by contact resistance between turn-to-turn layers, and the contact resistance characteristics are determined by properties of conductor surface and winding tension. In order to accurately predict the electromagnetic characteristics of the NI coil in a design stage, it is necessary to control the contact resistance characteristics within the design target parameters. In this paper, the contact resistance and critical current characteristics of a rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) conductor were measured to analyze the effects of surface treatment conditions (roughness and oxidation level) of the copper stabilizer layer in REBCO conductor. The test samples with different surface roughness and oxidation levels were fabricated and conductor surface analysis was performed using scanning electron microscope, alpha step surface profiler and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Moreover, the contact resistance and critical current characteristics of the samples were measured using the four-terminal method in a liquid nitrogen impregnated cooling environment. Compared with as-received REBCO conductor sample, the contact resistance values of the REBCO conductors, which were post-treated by the scratch and oxidation of the surface of the copper stabilizer layer, tended to increase, and the critical current values were decreased under certain roughness and oxidation conditions.

The application of the EGR system is increasing according to the recent trend of conversion to green-ships. EGR blower, one of the core parts of the EGR, consists of aerodynamic system and e-motor and inverter and etc. For the e-motor, a permanent magnet type synchronous motor with high energy density and excellent efficiency is applied recently. Small and medium-sized enterprises trying to develop the e-motors, however, for marine inverters mostly developed by global advanced companies due to the rigid classification certification and technical difficulties. One of disadvantage of universal inverters is that when optimal control fails, it is difficult to find the cause from user's point of view. Therefore, in this study, optimal controllers(Current vector contol and Tracking observer) for SPMSM for EGR blower was designed and verified to analyze the causes of failure of optimal control of universal inverter.
Background Population aging has led to an increased incidence of pressure ulcers, resulting in a social burden and economic costs. We developed a three-dimensional knitted fabric (3-DKF) with a pressure-reducing function that can be applied topically in the early stages of pressure ulcers to prevent progression. Methods We evaluated the effects of the 3-DKF in a streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus pressure ulcer mouse model, and the fabric was preliminarily applied to patients. Twelve-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were used for the animal experiments. In the pressure ulcer mouse model, an ischemia-reperfusion injury was created using a magnet on the dorsa of the mice. Pressure was measured with BodiTrak before and after applying the 3-DKF to 14 patients at risk of sacral pressure ulcers. Results In the 3-DKF-applied mice group, the ulcers were shallower and smaller than those in the control group. Compared with the mice in the control group, the 3-DKF group had lower platelet-derived growth factor-α and neutrophil elastase expression, as parameters related to inflammation, and increased levels of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, TGF-β3, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, and α-smooth muscle actin, which are related to growth factors and proliferation. Additionally, typical normal tissue staining patterns were observed in the 3-DKF group. In the preliminary clinical analysis, the average skin pressure was 26.2 mm Hg before applying the 3-DKF, but it decreased to an average of 23.4 mm Hg after 3-DKF application. Conclusion This study demonstrated that the newly developed 3-DKF was effective in preventing pressure ulcers through testing in a pressure ulcer animal model and preliminary clinical application.

Synchrotron radiation is produced when charged particles moving with relativistic velocities a are accelerated - for example, deflected by the bending magnets which guide the electron or p positrons in circular accelerators or storage rings. By using special focusing magnetic lattices i in the particle accelerators it is possible to make the dimensions of the particle beam very small with a hi맹 charge density which results in a light source with high b디lIiance. Synchrotron light h has important properties which make it ideal for a wide range of investigations in surface s science. The fact that the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation emitted in a bending magnet e extends in a continuum from the 얹r infra red region to hard x-rays means that it is id않I for a v variety of spectroscopic studies. Since there are no convenient lasers, or other really bright l light sources, in the vacuum ultraviolet and soft x-ray re.밍ons the development of synchrotron r radiation has enabled enormous advances to be made in this di펌C비t spectr따 re밍on. P Polarization-dependent measurements, for ex없nple ellipsometry or circular dichroism studies a are possible because the radiation has a well-defined polarization - linear in the plane of orbit w with additional right-circular, or left-circular, components for emission an생es above, or below, t the horizontal, respectively. Since the synchrotron light is emitted from a bunch of charge c circulating in a ring the light is emitted with a well-defined time structure with a short flash of l light every time a bunch passes an exit port. The time structure depends on the size of the ring a and the number and sequence of filling of the bunches. A pulsed light source enables time¬r resolved studies to be performed which provide direct information on the lifetimes and decay m modes of excited states and in addition opens up the possibility of using time of flight t techniques for spectroscopic studies. The fact that synchrotron radiation is produced in a clean u ultrahi야 vacuum environment is of gr않t importance for surce science studies. The current t비rd generation synchrotron light sources provide exceptionally high baliance and stability a and open up possibilities for experiments which would have been inconceivable only a short time ago.

An advanced superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) using $high-T_c$ superconducting (HTS) wire has been developed. The SFCL has a non-inductively wound magnet for reducing loss in normal state. Two types of non-inductively wound magnets, the solenoid type and the pancake type, were designed and manufactured by using Bi-2223 wire in this research. Short-circuit tests of the magnets were performed in sub-cooled $LN_2$ cooling system of 65 K. The magnets are thermally more stable and have a higher critical current in 65 K sub-cooled $LN_2$ cooling system than in 77 K saturated one. Because the resistivity of matrix at 65 K is lower than the resistivity at 77 K, the magnets generate a small resistance to reduce the fault current when the quench occurs. The magnets could limit the fault current to low current level with such a small resistance. The current limiting characteristic of the magnets was analyzed from the test result. The solenoid type was wound in parallel to make it non-inductive. The pancake type was also connected in parallel to be compared with the solenoid type in the same condition. The solenoid type was found to have a good thermal stability compared with the pancake type. It also had as large resistance as the pancake type to limit the fault current in sub-cooled $LN_2$ cooling system.
As a part of the plasma control system (PCS) for the first plasma campaign of KSTAR, seven sets of fast feedback control loop for the superconducting poloidal field magnet power supply (PF MPS) have been implemented. A special real-time digital communication interface has been developed for the simultaneous exchanges of the current/voltage data from the 7 sets of 12-thyristor power supplies in a 200 microsecond control cycle. Preliminary power supply tests have been performed before actual cooldown of the device. A $29mH/50m{\Omega}$ solenoid dummy has been fabricated for a series of single power supply tests. Connectivity and response speed of the plasma control system have been verified. By changing hardware cabling, this load was also used to estimate mutual inductance coupling effects of two geometrically adjacent solenoid coils on each power supply. After the cooldown was complete, each pair of the up/down symmetric PF coils has been serially connected and tested as part of the device commissioning process. Bipolar operation and longer pulse attempts have been investigated. The responses of the coils and power supplies corresponding to the plasma magnetic controls in plasma discharges are also analyzed for the future upgrades.

A high speed NMR quality evaluation sensor was designed , constructed and tested . The device consists of an NMR spectrometer coupled to a conveyor system. The conveyor was run at speeds ranging from 0 to 250 mm/s. Spectral of avocado fruits and one-dimensional magnetic resonance images of pickled olives were acquired while the samples were moving on a conveyor belt mounted through a 20Tesla NMR magnet with a 20 mm diameter surface coil and a 150 mm diameter imaging coil respectively. Fro a magnetic resonance spectrum analysis, motion through variations in the magnetic field tends to narrow spectral line width just like using sample rotation in high resolution NMR to narrow spectral line width. Spectrum analysis was used to detect the dry weight of avocado fruits using the ratio oil and water resonance peaks. Good correlations maximum r=0.970@ 50 mm/s and minimum r=0.894@250mm/s ) between oil and water resonance peak ratio and dry weight of avocados were observed at speeds ra ging from0 to 250mm/s. For the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method, the projections were used to distinguish between pitted and non-pitted olives . Effect of fruit position in the coil was tested and coil degree effects were noticed when projects were generated under dynamic conditions. Various belt speeds (up to 250mm/s) were tested and detection results were compared to static measurements. Higher classification errors were occurred at dynamic conditions compared to errors while olives were at rest.

As the adoption and high-performance enhancement of Electric Vehicles continue, the demand for high-output motors and high-capacity Magnetizer for producing large-scale IPMSM is increasing. The maximum peak current of the magnetization and the capacitor discharge time, which are important factors in the magnetization process, are determined by the circuit constants of the magnetizer. In this paper, we analyze the magnetizing system using MATLAB SIMULINK to design the circuit constant of the magnetizing yoke for magnetizing design and present the design procedure for Design the circuit constant. As a result, the parameters of the magnetizing yoke were derived to be 0.015[ohm] and 0.035[mH] based on the capacitance of 15,000[uF] and voltage of 5,000[V].
In this paper, the efficiency of a sensorless method with square-wave injection for a low-cost inverter, so called B4 inverter is presented. This inverter comprises only 4 switches to reduce system cost. It is distinguished from the conventional B6 inverter that has 6 of switching elements. The B4 inverter, injected a 1 kHz of harmonic wave, has been modelled using the functions and library in Matlab/Simulink. This paper described each component of sensorless algorithm. Among them, the Notch Filter is used to extract the harmonic component of the phase current and a second-order low-pass filter was used to reduce the ripple of the estimated speed. It is shown through simulation that the rotor angle of a permanent magnet synchronous motor is detected by multiplying the current waveform extracted using the notch filter by the harmonic voltage. The feasibility of the proposed method is shown through Simulink simulation.
In this paper, an electric vehicle drives with efficient control and low cost hardware using four quadrant DC converter with Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) motor fed by DC boost converter is presented. The main idea of this work is to improve the energy efficiency of the conversion chain of an electric vehicle by inserting a boost converter between the battery and the four quadrant-DC motor chopper assembly. Consequently, this method makes it possible to maintain the amplification gain of the 4 quadrant chopper constant regardless of the battery voltage drop and even in the presence of a fault in the battery. One of the most important control problems is control under heavy uncertainty conditions. The higher order sliding mode control technique is introduced for the adjustment of DC bus voltage and mechanical motor speed. To implement the proposed approach in the automotive field, experimental tests were carried out. The performances obtained show the usefulness of this system for a better energy management of an electric vehicle and an ideal control under different operating conditions and constraints, mostly at nominal operation, in the presence of a load torque, when reversing the direction of rotation of the motor speed and even in case of battery chamber failure. The whole system has been tested experimentally and its performance has been analyzed.
