AN M/G/1 VACATION QUEUE UNDER THE $P_{\lambda}^M-SERVICE$ POLICY

  • We consider the $P_{\lambda}^M-service$ policy for an M/G/1 queueing system in which the workload is monitored randomly at discrete points in time. If the level of the workload exceeds a threshold ${\lambda}$ when it is monitored, then the service rate is increased from 1 to M instantaneously and is kept as M until the workload reaches zero. By using level-crossing arguments, we obtain explicit expressions for the stationary distribution of the workload in the system.

  • This study presents the switching strategy between admission control and pricing control policies and clarifies the properties of the switching strategy in an M/M/1/K queueing system. In addition, this study demonstrates that employing the switching strategy can significantly improve the maximum total expected profit.

  • The design and fabrication of LTE Cat.M1 (3GPP Release13 Standardization) modules of ships such as fishing boat and patrol boat are reported in this research. LTE cat.M1 modules are needed to expand the for broadening of IoT services through the ships used in fishing gear automatically identification monitoring system, which is one of applying ICT into the real name system of electric fishing gear.

Precision Position Control of Feed Drives (이송기구의 정밀 위치제어)

  • An essential ingredient in precision machining is a positioning system that responds quickly and precisely to very small input signal. In this paper, two different positioning systems were presented fot the precision positioning control. The one is a friction drive system, the other is a ballscrew system. The friction drive system was composed of an air sliding guide and a friction drive. The ballscrew system was made of a ballscrew and a linear guide. Nonlinear behaviors of the given systems tend to make the system inaccurate. The paper looked at the phenomena that has caused the positioning error. These apparently nonlinear phenomena can be attributed mainly to the presence of the nonlinear friction and slip effect plus the dynamic change from the microdynamic to the macrodynamic and form the macrodynamic to the microdynamic. For the control of the positioning system, the control algorithm based on a neural network is suggested. The FEL(Feedback Error Learning) controller can learn the inverse dynamics of a nonlinear system by using the neural network controller, and stabilize the system by a linear controller. In the experiment, PTP control is implemented withen the maximum error of 0.05 .mu.m ~0.1 .mu. m when i .mu.m step reference input is applied and that of maximum 1 .mu. m when 100 .mu.m step reference input is given. Sinusoidal inputs with the amplitude of 1 .mu.m and 100 .mu. m are used for the tracking control of the positioning system. Experimental results of the proposed algorithm are shown to be superior to those of conventional PD controls.

  • This paper describes the design and development of a KrF excimer laser stepper and discusses the detailed system parameters and characterization data obtained from the performance test. We have developed a deep UV step-and-repeat system, operating at 248 nm, by retrofitting a commercial modules such as KrF excimer laser, precision wafer stage and fused silica illumination and 5X projection optics of numerical aperture 0.42. What we have developed, to the basic structure, are wafer alignment optics, reticle alignment system, autofocusing/leveling mechanisms and environment chamber. Finally, all these subsystem were integrated under the control of microprocessor-based controllers and computer. The wafer alignment system comprises the OFF-AXIS and the TTL alignment. The OFF-AXIS alignment system was realized with two kinds of optics. One is the magnification system with the image processing technique and the other is He-Ne laser diffraction type system using the alignment grating on the wafer. 'The TTL alignment system employs a dual beam inteferometric method, which takes advantages of higher diffraction efficiency compared with other TTL type alignment systems. As the results, alignment accuracy for OFF-AXIS and TTL alignment system were obtained within 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$/ 3 $\sigma$ for the various substrate on the wafers. The wafer focusing and leveling system is modified version of the conventional systems using position sensitive detectors (PSD). This type of detection method showed focusing and leveling accuracies of about $\pm$ 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and $\pm$ 0.5 arcsec, respectively. From the CD measurement, we obtained 0.4 $\mu\textrm{m}$ resolution features over the full field with routine use, and 0.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ resolution was attainable under more strict conditions.

  • We consider a generalized N-policy for an M/M/1 queueing system. The idle server starts to work with ordinary service rate when a customer arrives. If the number of customers in the system reaches N, the service rate gets faster and continues until the system becomes empty. Otherwise, the server finishes the busy period with ordinary service rate. We obtain the limiting distribution of the number of customers in the system. After assigning various operating costs to the system, we show that there exists a unique fast service rate minimizing the long-run average cost per unit time.

  • A measurement accuracy of theodolite system may be affected by a measurement environment, a measurement distance change and so on. This study was performed for measuring an accuracy when the height of scale bar is changed 0.05m, 0.5m, 1m and 1.5m under the distance 3m between two theodolites, the distance 4m from the theodolite system to scale bar and the distance 5m from the thodolite system to the horizontal target bar. And we could know that the best height is 0.05m and 1m.

  • This paper presents the establishment of optimum design conditions and economic evaluation for solar hot water system. The aim of this study is to present thermal performance of solar heating systems and to determine their performance as a function of collector size, storage capacity, tilting of collector and other factors. By analyzing its performance under the various conditions, optimum design of solar heating system can be obtained. System performance are obtained monthly and yearly basis respectively. At the same time the economics of various systems are evaluated. For the computer simulation Mokpo, Kangnung, Chupungnyong and Seoul are selected for particular installation places. As a result, the optimal design condition of solar heating system considering the following factors such as installation angle of collector, capacity of storage tank, collector size in each place can be obtained as follows; (1) Installation angle of collector Tilt = lattitude (2) Capacity of storage tank Solar domestic hot water system : $45\;1/m^2$ Multifamily solar domestic hot water system : $35\;1/m^2$ (3) Collector size i) Solar domestic hot water system Seoul & Chupyungyong area : $11.52\;m^2$ Mokpo area : $8.64\;m^2$ ii) Multifamily solar domestic hot water system Seoul, Chupyungyong & Mokpo area : $345.6\;m^2$ Kangnung area : $259.2\;m^2$

  • In recent literature on traffic scheduling, the combination of the two-dimensional discrete-time Markov chain (DTMC) and the Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP) is used to analyze the capacity of VoIP traffic in the cognitive radio system. The performance of the cognitive radio system solely depends on the accuracy of spectrum sensing techniques, the minimization of false alarms, and the scheduling of traffic channels. In this paper, we only emphasize the scheduling of traffic channels (i.e., traffic handling techniques for the primary user [PU] and the secondary user [SU]). We consider the following three different traffic models: the cross-layer analytical model, M/G/1(m) traffic, and the IEEE 802.16e/m scheduling approach to evaluate the performance of the VoIP services of the cognitive radio system from the context of blocking probability and throughput.

The Derivation of the Space Groups in Triclinic and Monoclinic Systems (Triclinic과 Monoclinic Systems에 속한 Space Groups의 유도)

  • Triclinic system에는 2개의 point group들 1,(equation omitted), 그리고 monoclinic system에는 3개의 point groups, 2, m, 2/m 가 있는데/sup 1)/ point group들 1, 2, m은 polar point group이고 이 중의 1, 2는 enantiomorphous point group이며 point group들 (equation omitted)와 2/m은 centric point group으로 Laue group이라 일컬어진다./sup 2-4)/ 본 해설문에서는 point group들 1, (equation omitted)에서 나오는 2개의 space group들과 point group들 2, m, 2/m에서 유도되는 13개의 space group들의 좌표들을 유도하였다 . Monoclinic system에서는 unique axis b 만을 다루었고, 그리고 space group No. 14은 3가지로 해석하였으며 나머지는 standard space group만을 다루었다. 모든 space group diagram은 “International Tables for Crystallography, Volume A edited by Theo Hahn, Third revised edition published for The International Union of Crystallography by Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1992”에 기재되어 있다.
