Transcription termination of the human mitochondrial genome requires specific binding to termination factor mTERF. In this study, mTERF was produced in E. coli and purified by two-step chromatography. mTERF-binding DNA sequences were isolated from a pool of randomized sequences by the repeated selection of bound sequences by gel-mobility shift assay and polymerase chain reaction. Sequencing and comparison of the 23 isolated clones revealed a 16-bp consensus sequence of 5'-GTG$\b{TGGC}$AGANCCNGG-3' in the light-strand (underlined residues were absolutely conserved), which nicely matched the genomic 13-bp terminator sequence 5'-$\b{TGGC}$AGAGCCCGG-3'. Moreover, mTERF binding assays of heteroduplex and single-stranded DNAs showed mTERF recognized the light strand in preference to the heavy strand. The preferential binding of mTERF with the light-strand may explain its distinct orientation-dependent termination activity.

The purpose of this paper is to establish connection between certain complex of modules of generalized fractions and the concept of cosequence in commutative algebra. The main theorem of the paper leads to characterization, in terms of modules of generalized fractions, of regular (co) sequences.

In this paper we present of a class infinite M A (moving-average) sequences of multivariate random vectors. We use the theory of positive dependence to show that in a variety of cases the classes of M A sequences are associated. We then apply the association to establish some probability bounds and moment inequalities for multivariate processes.

${\kappa}$-오류 선형복잡도는 통신 시스템 및 스트림 암호 시스템 등에 사용되는 수열의 안정성 여부를 판단하는 중요한 척도이다. 본 논문은 p가 소수이고 2가 모듈로 $p^2$의 원시근일 때 $p^m$-주기 이진 수열의 k-오류 선형복잡도와 해당 오류벡터를 효과적으로 구할 수 있는 알고리듬을 소개한다. 또한 암호학적인 관점에서 정의된 ${\kappa}$-오류 선형 복잡도의 의미를 부호 이론의 관점에서 살펴봄으로써 부호어의 길이가 $p^m$인 이진 순환 부호를 효과적으로 복호할 수 있는 알고리듬을 소개하며 이러한 부호의 최소 거리에 관한 중요한 성질들을 유도한다.

이 논문에서는 서로 다른 원시원과 decimation을 통해서 생성한 M-진 Sidel'nikov 수열들 사이의 관계에 대해서 연구하였다. 이들의 자기상관 함수와 자기상관 분포가 유도되었으며 주어진 주기에 대해서 Sidel'nikov 수열들이 decimation과, 순회 shift, 그리고 상수 곱 하에서 동치라는 것을 증명하였다.

A simple method is proposed for determining the frequency response function G(j.omega.) of a system using a pair of characteristic M-sequences (maximum length linear feed back shift register sequence). When a characteristic M-sequence is sampled with q$_{1}$ and q$_{2}$ both of which are coprime with N, where N is the period of the M-sequence, the obtained pair of sequences have conjugate complex frequency spectrum. Making use of this fact, two charcteristic M-sequences having conjugate complex frequency spectrum are applied to a system to be measured. Since the magnitude of spectrium of M-sequence is known, the gain of G(j.omega.) is directly obtained from the Fourier transform of the system output. The phase of G(j.omega.) is obtained simply by taking the average of the two phases of output spectrum.

주기가 $p^n-1$인 p진 수열은 부호이론, CDMA와 같은 통신시스템과 암호체계 등 많은 분야에서 폭넓게 응용되고 있다. 이러한 수열에 대한 상호상관관계에 대한 분석은 p진 수열의 연구에 있어 매우 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 유한체 위에서의 방정식 $(x+1)^d=x^d+1$의 해와 관련지어 p진 수열의 상호상관관계를 분석한다.

To reexamine taxonomic status of endemic Mogera wogura coreana from Korea, we first obtained partial 12S rRNA sequences (893 bp) and complete cytochrome b gene sequences (1140 bp) of this subspecies, and these sequences and partial cytochrome b sequences (402 bp) were compared to the corresponding haplotypes of M. wogura from East Asia, obtained from GenBank. The one of three 12S rRNA haplotypes in M. w. coreana was identical to one 12S rRNA haplotype of M. w. robusta from East Asia: 10 complete and 13 partial cytochrome b haplotypes of M. w. coreana formed a single clade with one complete and four partial cytochrome b haplotypes of M. w. robusta, respectively. We considered that M. w. coreana from Korea is an endemic subspecies with only morphological differences, although it is necessary to reexamine the subspecies status of M. w. coreana. Additionally, in the 12S rRNA and complete cytochrome b sequences, M. wogura from Japan was distinct from the two continental subspecies of M. w. coreana and M. w. robusta with average distances of 1.76 and 5.65%, respectively; insular M. wogura, with within-group distances of 2.09 and 4.38%, respectively, was also genetically more divergent than the mainland M. wogura, with within-group distances of 0.08 and 0.57%, respectively. Thus, we considered that insular M. wogura of Japan dispersed into neighboring East Asian continent, which is opposite to the traditional hypothesis on the origin of Japanese M. wogura.

Recently, No et al. presented a new construction of binary sequences with ideal autocorrelation property. In this paper, we applied this method into some of the well-known binary sequences with ideal autocorrelation, and the results are described in detail. First, the GMW sequences are shown to be a natural extension of m-sequences with respect to this method. Second, new binary sequences with ideal autocorrelation property are explicitly constructed from Legendre sequences, Hall's sextic residue sequences, and other known sequences of miscellaneous type.

In this article, we construct lacunary ∆^m-statistical convergence for triple sequences within the context of intuitionistic fuzzy n-normed spaces (IFnNS). For lacunary ∆^m-statistical convergence of triple sequence in IFnNS, we demonstrate numerous results. For this innovative notion of convergence, we further built lacunary ∆^m-statistical Cauchy sequences and offered the Cauchy convergence criterion.
