상기생의 트라이테르펜 및 페놀성 성분의 면역조절 작용 (Immunodulatory Activity of Triterpenes and Phenolic Compounds from Viscum Album L.)

  • Plants are known as important source in the search for new drugs. The twelve compounds from Viscum album (Loranthaceae), lupeol (1), betulonic acid (2), betulinic acid (3), terminic acid (4), ursolic acid (5), $\beta$-sitosterol (6), $\alpha$-spinasterol (7), oleanolic acid (8), 5-hydroxy-1-(4′-hydoxyphenyl)-7-(4"-hydroxyphenyl)-hepta-1-en-3-on (9), 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethoxychalcone-4-O-glucoside (10), 2′-hydroxy-4′,6′-dimethoxychalcone-4-O-[apiosyl(l$\longrightarrow$2)]glucoside (11) and syringin (12) were evaluated for their immunomodulatory properties. Compounds 6 and 11 induced the macrophage tumoricidal activity and the lymphocyte blastogenesis. In addition, these compounds stimulated the macrophages to induce the production of TNF-$\alpha$ and NO. These findings suggest that compounds 6 and 11 are modulating various elements of the host immune response.

만성 간질환자 57례에 대한 임상보고 (A Clinical Report about 57 Patients with Chronic Liver Disease)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of Gamichunggan-tang(Jiaweiqinggan-tang) on 57 patients who have suffered from chronic liver disease. Methods : Gamichunggan-tang(Jiaweiqinggan-tang) was administered to patients for over 2 months continuously. We checked improvement of clinical symptoms, changes of Hepatitis B markers and lymphocyte count. Results : Gamichunggan-tang(Jiaweiqinggan-tang) has significant effect on the improvement of clinical symptoms. And the ratio of seroconversion from HBeAg positive to HBeAg negative was 42.9%. Lymphocyte increased in 83.3% of patients converted to HBeAg negative. Conclusions : It is suggested that Gamichunggan-tang(Jiaweiqinggan-tang) has significant effects on the recovery of weakened liver function and immune modulation. This treatment could be recommened as a prescription for Chronic liver disease.

  • This study describes the synthesis of novel enol esters (3) and triketones (4) as analogues of succinylacetone (SA) (Ed- this abbreviation is introduced here based on your use of it in the body of the paper) and the evaluation on the mouse allogeneic mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) and the murine model of antigen-induced paw edema formation for immunosuppressive activity. Enol esters (3a-f) were about 2-4 fold more potent than SA in in vitro activity.

  • Engagement of the immunoreceptors initiates signaling cascades resulting in lymphocyte activation and differentiation to effector cells, which are essential for the elimination of pathogens from the body. For the transduction of these immunoreceptor-mediated signals, several linker proteins termed transmembrane adaptor proteins (TRAPs) were shown to be required. TRAPs serve as platforms for the assembly and membrane targeting of the specific signaling proteins. Among seven TRAPs identified so far, LAT and LIME were shown to act as a positive regulator in TCR-mediated signaling pathways. In this review, we will discuss the functions of LAT and LIME in modulating T cell development, activation and differentiation.

  • Chromosome rearrangements induced in human lymphocyte after in vitro exposure to chromium were analysed by the use of fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) with triple combination of composite whole chromosome-specific probe for chromosome 1, 2 and 4. Chromosome aberrations was scored by the Protocol for Aberration Identification and Nomenclature Terminology (PAINT). Stable translocation was the most frequent type of aberrations and dicentrics and insertions were also observed. Chromium treatment enhanced the frequencies of stable translocations and color junctions in a dose-dependent manners, but no distinct increase of dicentrics and insertions was seen. The ratio of the yields of translocation to the yields of dicentric varied between 13 to 27. The presents results demonstrate fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is useful for detecting chromosomal rearrangements induced by chromium.

가미보아탕(加味補兒湯)이 면역기능(免疫機能) 증진효과(增進效果)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Study on the Effect of Gamiboatang (GMBT) on the Proliferation of Immune Function in Mice)

  • This study was carried out to prove the effects of GMBT on the proliferation of splenic lymphocyte, active change of macrophage, T cell and B cell in continuous medication GMBT. The result were obtained as follows : 1. GMBT promote proliferation of splenic lymphocyte in vitro. 2. GMBT pretreated group was showed higher immune response than control group. 3. GMBT was not a rising effect in Con A but a rising effect in PHA. 4. GMBT treated group had highly producted more than 70% NO quality compared with control group. 5. GMBT was twice effect compared with control group in antibody production capacity of SRBC but meaningless m that of Anti-HBs Titer.

천연물제제 마루플랜트$-AMP-365^{TM}$의 항염증 및 면역활성에 미치는 영향 (Anti-inflammatory and Immunomodulatory Effects of the Botanical Product $AMP-365^{TM}$)

  • The effect of aqueous extracts of medicinal plants $AMP-365^{TM}$ was tested for immune system regulating activity based on anti-inflammatory activity, anti-oxidant, macrophage proliferation and T-lymphocyte proliferation activity. $AMP-365^{TM}$ dose-dependently increased proliferation of RAW264.7 macrophage cells and its nitric oxide production as well as DPPH radical scavenging activity. On the other hand, T-lymphocyte proliferation activity was decreased on dose-dependent manner. Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reaction was alleviated by 49% by administering 250 mg/kg of $AMP-365^{TM}$. The results suggest that $AMP-365^{TM}$ can be beneficial in the treatment of immediate allergic reactions as an adjuvant supplement material.

Genotoxicity in B6C3F1 Mice Following 0.5 ppm Ozone Inhalation

  • To determine whether ozone is genotoxic at environmentally relevant exposure level, B6C3F1 mice were exposed to 0.5 ppm ozone for 12 weeks, 6 hr/day. Chromosomal aberration, supravital micronucleus and hprt mutation assays were performed. The percentage of abnormal cells was significantly increased at 0.5 ppm ozone when compared to unexposed control in chromosome aberration assay. Significant increase in the frequencies of micro nucleated reticulocytes and 6-thioguanine-resistant ($TG^r$) lymphocytes was also observed in supravital micronucleus assay using peripheral blood and lymphocyte hprt mutation assay, respectively. The results indicate, that under our experimental conditions, 0.5 ppm ozone are genotoxic in exposed B6C3F1 mice.

소아의 영양 평가 - 소아 신체계측과 생화학적 지표의 특성을 중심으로 (The Nutritional Assessment in Children - Understanding of Anthropometric Assessment and Biochemical Indexes in Children)

  • Nutritional assessment is based on anthropometric, clinical, dietary and biochemical data. There is a lack of studies about the propriety of biochemical indexes for the nutritional assessment in children despite biochemical data in pediatric population are different from them in adult's in many respects. Serum albumin is useful index to evaluate the severity of malnutrition. Hemoglobin and hematocrit tend to decrease in malnutrition on account of defect of iron metabolism and to increase in metabolic syndrome on account of enhancement of erythropoiesis. But, unlike adult, total lymphocyte count is not so useful biochemical indexes in children. We should consider pediatric characteristic when interpret biochemical indexes for nutritional assessment in children, and nutritional status in children should be assessed comprehensively with anthropometric, clinical, dietary and biochemical data.

  • Enzootic bovine leukosis(EBL) is chronic disease caused by bovine leukemia virus(BLV), retroviridae. The characteristic feature of this disease is proliferation of lymphocytes in circulating blood or lymphoid tissues. Because EBL concern lymphocytes, immunological disorder or alteration in the lymphocyte subpopulation is suggested. In this study, we investigated the changes of the lymphocyte subpopulation in the circulating blood of Korean native cattle infected with bovine leukemia virus. (omitted)
