It has been a puzzle in solar physics how a low-lying magnetic structure such as a solar prominence surrounded by a strongly line-tied overlying field sometimes intrudes through the latter and goes into eruption. A numerical simulation study of the solar coronal plasma reveals that a ballooning instability can explain this type of eruptive process. We consider an idealized situation with two flux ropes merging. When magnetic field lines from different flux ropes reconnect, a new field line connecting farther footpoints is generated. Since the field line length abruptly increases, the field line expands outward. If the plasma beta is low, this expansion takes place more or less evenly over the whole field line. If, on the other hand, the plasma beta is high enough somewhere in this field line, the outward expansion is not even, but is localized as in a bulging balloon. This ballooning section of the magnetic field penetrates out of the overlying field, and eventually the originally underlying field and the overlying field come to interchange their apex positions. This process may explain how a field structure that has stably been confined by an overlying field can occasionally show a localized eruptive behavior.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the incidence and associated factors of suicidal ideation among the elderly according to residence area. Methods: This cross-sectional study used secondary data from the 2011 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V-2). A representative sample of 1,464 men and women aged 65 and over was selected. Rao-scott $X^2$-test, multiple logistic regression models based on sampling scheme of the data were used. Results: Of the 1,464 respondents, 22.4% had experienced suicidal ideation during the past year. Higher incidence of suicidal ideation was observed in rural seniors (23.7%) than in urban seniors (21.1%). The incidence of suicidal ideation showed correlation with age, education level, depression, stress, lying in a sick bed, and current smoking status among elderly living in urban areas. However, among elderly living in rural areas, the incidence of suicidal ideation showed correlation with household income, depression, stress, and daily activity. Conclusion: Based on the results, nurses should manage effective and individualized nursing interventions for elders in planning suicide prevention programs with consideration for residence areas, because there were differences in the factors affecting suicidal ideation among elders according to residence area.

In this paper, we propose a way to improve the quality of L-band wireless communication from unfriendly influential factors lying in the neighboring RF bands. The UHF-band system has resonator components and they generate harmonics as the spurious in the L-band. Therefore, a metamaterial CRLH bandpass filter is designed for the purpose of system miniaturization and smaller insertion loss, and its spurious phenomenon is observed in the frequency domain. And its harmonics in the L-band are suppressed by a compact bandstop filter whose equivalent circuit is newly developed. The design methodology is validated by the equivalent circuit to be compared with commercial full-wave EM software simulations, where the spurious is dropped by 20dB. Also, the advantage of the proposed design is presented by the comparison where our filter is much smaller than the conventional parallel edge coupled filter by over 50%, with excellent harmonic suppression.
In this study, a couple of ordinary differential equations which can describe random waves are derived from the Boussinesq equations. Incident random waves are generated by using the TMA(TEXEL storm, MARSEN, ARSLOE) shallow-water spectrum. The governing equations are integrated with the 4-th order Runge-Kutta method. By using newly derived wave equations, nonlinear energy interaction of propagating waves in constant depth is studied. The characteristics of random waves propagate over a sinusoidally varying topography lying on a sloping beach are also investigated numerically. Transmission and reflection of random waves are considerably affected by nonlinearity.

Marginal soils such as BRlS (Beach Ridges Interspersed with Swales) soils and ex-tin mining land make up approximately 0.5 million ha or about 2% of Malaysia's land area. In the coastal areas of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia impoverished sandy BRIS dominates the landscape with most lying idle as there is no national management plan for their utilization. A field study was carried out to see whether mycorrhizal application had any effect on the growth of three exotic Acacia spp., i.e. Acacia auriculiformis, A. mangium and Acacia hybrid (A. auriculiformis ${\times}$ A. mangium) on BRIS soils. Two types of mycorrhizal inoculum, namely, a commercially available arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum marketed as $MycoGold^{TM}$ and an indigenous ectomycorrhizal Tomentella sp. inoculum were tested. In the initial six months, height growth of all three tree species inoculated with the arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum was significantly improved compared to the ectomycorrhizal inoculated and uninoculated control plants. The mycorrhizal effect was not evident thereafter and repeated application of the arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum may be necessary for continued growth enhancement. Of the three species, A. mangium had the highest relative height growth rate over the 24 months on BRlS soils.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe pregnant women's lived experiences of hospitalization due to preterm labor in Korea. Methods: This qualitative study adopted a phenomenological approach. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted with nine participants, over the age of 20 years, who had been hospitalized for more than 1 week after being diagnosed with preterm labor. All interviews were audio-taped and verbatim transcripts were made for analysis. The data were analyzed following Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: The participants' ages ranged from 26 to 36 years, and all were married women. They were hospitalized for 13.1 days on average. Five thematic clusters emerged from the analysis. 'Withstanding hospitalization for the fetus's well-being' describes women's feelings during preterm labor and their endurance during their prolonged hospitalization, rooted in their conviction that the fetus comes first. 'Endless frustration in the hospital' encompasses women's emotions while lying in bed and quietly thinking to themselves. 'Unmet physiological needs' describes participants' awareness of their inability to independently handle human physiological needs given the need for careful and limited movement. 'Gratitude for the support around oneself' reflects the support from family and medical staff. 'Shifting perceptions and accepting one's circumstances' describes accepting hospitalization and making efforts to spend their remaining time in the hospital in a meaningful way. Conclusion: The findings in this study provide a deeper understanding and insights into the experiences of Korean women with preterm labor during hospitalization, underscoring the need to develop interventions for these patients.
Comet 46P/Wirtanen is a Jupiter-family comet whose orbital period is of approximately 5.44 years and perihelion lying at about 1.06 au. The comet is known for being a primary target of the Rosetta space mission prior to it being rescheduled to 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. In its 2018 apparition, comet 46P approached Earth within ~0.08 au, which made possible its study with relatively small telescopes. We used this rare opportunity to conduct a comprehensive study of the 46P polarization from November 16, 2018, about a month prior to its perihelion passage December 12, until January 17, 2019. Over this two-month time period, weather conditions were favorable on 13 nights. Observations were made with the 22-cm telescope located at the Ussuriysk Astrophysical Observatory (code C15), which operates within the International Scientific Optical Network (ISON). We will report our findings at the conference.

This paper presents treatment efficiency and plant growth of a subsurface-flow constructed wetland system (23 m in length, 6.5 m in width, 0.65 m in depth) over one year after its establishment on floodplain of a stream in June 2000. An upper layer of 10 cm in depth was filled with course sand and the main biological layer of 50 cm depth with crushed stone with 8 - 15 mm in diameter. The system was planted with common reeds (Phragmites australis) grown on pots. Effluent discharged from a secondary-level treatment plant was funneled into it. Reed stems emerging in April 2001 grew up to 145.9cm until July 2001. The number of reed stems in July 2001 increased by about 11 times compared with that just after planting. The system was inundated seven times by storms over the monitoring period. Reeds were slightly bent after flooding, however they returned to almost upright standing in a couple of weeks. Small portion of inside slope of berm was eroded and the system surface had a sedimentation of 2 - 3 mm in depth. The average removal rates for SS, $BOD_5$, T-N and T-P was 73%, 70%, 53%, and 72%, respectively. The purification efficiencies for SS and $BOD_5$ were fairly good. The reduction rates for T-N was relatively low for the period of late fall through winter until early spring due to lower water temperature which retarded microbial nitrification and denitrification mechanisms. Reduction in the concentration of T-P during fall and winter was relatively higher than that during spring. Leach of phosphorous from plant litters lying on system surface and slight resuspension of precipitated phosphorous in substrates resulted in lower reduction for T-P in spring.
The cavities created by underground mining, if remained unfilled, can cause ground settlement and surface subsidence as a result of relaxation and breakdown of the carven roof. Construction of structures above the underground mine cavity will have serious problems concerning both structural stability and safely even if the cavity is back-filled. This study was conducted to confirm the location and condition of the cavern as well as the state of the back-fill in A mine area using core logging and borehole camera. The bearing capacity and other mechanical properties of the ground were also measured by the standard penetration test(SPT). Obtained data were used to assess the stability of the ground and the structures to be built by numerical analysis using FLAC. The site investigation results showed that the mine cavities were filled with materials such as boulder and silty sand(SM by unified classification). Result of the numerical analyses indicated that constructing building structures on the over-lying ground above the filled cavities is secure against the potential problems such as surface subsidence and ground settlement.

A statistical analysis on the cardiothoracic ratio in insurance medicine was carried out for 5,200 insured persons who were medically examined including photofluorography of the chest at the Honam medical department, Dong Bang life insurance Company, Ltd from November, 1979 to August, 1984. The results were as follows: 1. The mean value of the cardiothoracic ratio in all of the insured was $44.2{\pm}4.3%$. The mean value of the cardiothoracic ratio was $43.1{\pm}4.1%$ in all males and $45.2{\pm}4.2%$ in all females, and the difference of the values between males and females showed statistical significance(P<0.001). In each age group, the mean value of the cardiothoracic ratios of female was higher than that of male without exception and the difference of the values between males and females showed statistical significance(P<0.001). The mean value of the cardiothoracic ratio showed gradual increase with age from the second to sixth decade in male(P<0.05 or 0.001 after fourth decade) and from the second to seventh decade in female(P<0.05 or 0.001 from the second to sixth decade). 2. Correlation between both sexes and among age groups relating to the cardiothoracic ratios of the insureds seen to be a physiological phenomenon of the cardiac size and should be considered on the rating of the cardiothoracic ratio. Based on the correlation above mentioned and an author's assumption that the incidence of normal and abnormal cardiothoracic ratios in each age group would show the same rate in male and female, author prepared a modified rating table from the existing table; in male group the existing rating table is used and in female group the ratings of 0, 30-50, 50-100 and 100-D are to calculate by the cardiothoracic ratio of 51%or under, 52-56%, 57-61% and 62% or over respectively in the age group below 39, by the cardiothoracic ratio of 52% or under, 53-57%, 58%-62% and 63% or over respectively in the age group of 40-49, by the cardiothoracic ratio of 53% or under, 54-58%, 59-63% and 64% or over respectively in the age group over 60. 3. The relative frequency distribution polygons of the cardiothoracic ratio of both sexes drawn in a pair on one coordinate plane revealed lying in juxtaposition each other horizontally and showed the shifting of females polygon to male's one toward the direction of greater value of the cardiothoracic ratio at a short distance which increased gradually with age. 4. The minimum cardiothoracic ratio was 31.2% and the maximum cardiothoracic ratio was 63.6% in all of the insured. 5. In each age group, no significant sex difference was found in the relative frequency distribution of ratings by the cardiothoracic ratios of 5,200 insureds by using the rating table modified by author, while significant sex difference was found by using the existing rating table.
