High dynamic range (HDR) imaging offers a radically approach of representing colors in digital images. Instead of using the range of colors produced by given devices, HDR imaging method manipulates and stores all colors and brightness levels visible to the human eye. To faithfully represent, store and then reproduce all these effects, the original scene must be stored and treated using high fidelity HDR techniques. Then, tone mapping is required to accommodate HDR image to low dynamic range (LDR) devices, and tone mapping operation of HDR image for realistic display is commonly researched. However, color visualization for analyzing scene luminance in HDR imaging has less attention from researches. This paper presents and implements a method for reproduction and visualization of the false color in HDR images. We produce a color visualization framework with several mapping functions, and evaluate their effectiveness by using RMAE and SNR with commonly used HDR image data. Experiment reveals that the sigmodal mapping function shows better performance in the false color visualization, compared to other methods.

Purpose: Recently, lighting energy consumption in buildings has been gradually increasing and more studies are being carried out in order to solve this problem. Especially, the efficiency of the light-shelf system, which is a natural lighting system, has been recognized as a potential solution in addressing this problem and so various studies regarding the light-shelf system are being conducted. However, if high luminance material is used for the light-shelf system, glaring may occur in certain circumstances even though such material increases efficiency, and there are also difficulties related to maintenance and management in the case of an external light-shelf system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest modifications in relation to the reflectivity of the light-shelf system and introduce a rolling type light-shelf system with built-in cleaning equipment. In addition, a performance evaluation technique was established to verify its effectiveness. Method: In this study, we reviewed previous studies related to the light-shelf system and its performance. Then a testbed was established to assess the performance of the rolling-type light-shelf system suggested in this study. Also, the performance of the rolling-type light-shelf system suggested in this study was compared and analyzed with that of existent light-shelf systems in order to better verify the performance, and the uniformity ratio of illumination and lighting energy consumption were calculated for this purpose. Result: The results of the performance evaluation are as follows. 1) The performance evaluation result of the light-shelf system on the day of the summer solstice shows that $30^{\circ}$ is appropriate for the angle of light-shelf system, and the depth of the incoming natural light also increases as the angle of the light shelf increases. 2) It is possible to improve the uniformity ratio of illumination by increasing the reflectivity of the light shelf, and the reason for this is the increase in the amount of incoming light entering indoors due to the increased reflectivity of the light shelf. 3) The rolling type light-shelf system suggested in this study enables energy saving in comparison with existent light-shelf systems, and when the external illuminance decreases to 60,000 lx and 40,000 lx during the summer solstice due to factors such as the weather, the suggested light-shelf system can save energy by 12.1% and 5.1% respectively. Thus the light-shelf system proposed in this study is deemed to be effective in reducing energy costs.

In a triple-layered structure of ITO/N,N'-diph enyl-N,N'bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1' - biphenyl-4,4'-diamine(TPD)/tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum($Alq_3$)/(2,9-Dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline(BCP)/Al device, we have studied the electrical and optical characteristics of organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) depending on the deposition condition of BCP layer. Several different sizes of holes on boat and several different deposition rates were employed in evaporating the organic materials. And then, electrical properties of the organic light-emitting diodes were measured and the performance of the devices was analyzed. It was found that the hole-size of crucible boat and the evaporation rate affect on the surface roughness of BCP layer as well as the performance of the device. When the hole-size of crucible boat and the deposition rate of BCP are 1.2 mm and $1.0\;{\AA}/s$, respectively, average surface roughness of BCP layer is lower and the efficiency of the device is higher than the ones made with other conditions. From the analysis of current density-luminance-voltage characteristics of a triple layered device, we divided the conductive mechanism by four region according to applied voltage. So we have obtained a coefficient of ${\beta}_{ST}$ in schottky region is $3.85{\times}10^{-24}$, a coefficient of ${\beta}_{PF}$ in Poole-Frenkel region is $7.35{\times}10^{-24}$, and a potential barrier of ${\phi}_{FN}$ in Fower-Nordheim region is 0.39 eV.

With advances in video technology, many researchers are interested in video quality assessment to prove better performance of proposed algorithms. Since human visual system is too complex to be formulated exactly, many researches about video quality assessment are in progressing. No-reference video-quality assessment is suitable for various video streaming services, because of no requested additional data and network capacity to perform quality assessment. In this paper, we propose a novel no-reference video-quality assessment method with the estimation of dynamic range distortion. To measure the performance, we obtain mean opinion score (MOS) data by subject video quality test with the ITU-T P.910 Absolute Category Rating (ACR) method. And, we compare it with proposed algorithm using 363 video sequences. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a higher correlation with obtained MOS.

Since the conventional image segmentation methods using mathematical morphology tend to yield over-segmented results, they normally need postprocess which merges small regions to obtain larger ones. To solve this over-segmentation problem without postprocess had to increase size of structuring element used marker extraction. As size of structuring element is very large, edge of region segments incorrectly. Therefore, this paper selectively applies structuring element of mathematical morphology to improve performance of image segmentation and classifies input image into texture region, edge region and simple region using averaged local variance and image gradient. Proposed image segmentation method removes the cause for over-segmentation of image as selectively applies size of structuring element to each region. Simulation results show that proposed method correctly segment for pixel region of similar luminance value and more correctly search texture region and edge region than conventional methods.
In this paper, we investigated the performances of the distributed video codec with adaptive Gray code to apply for frame-difference signal. That is, the best cases and the worst cases were analyzed and compared by considering the statistical characteristics of the frame difference signal in view of the Gray code allocation. Through computer simulations, if 9-bit data for frame difference signal is generated for luminance signal with 8-bit definition and so n-bit is allocated to the quantized coefficient, we were able to find the best method to reduce the virtual channel noise by adding $256+2^{9-n-1}$ to the frame difference signal. Through computer simulation with test video sequences, it was shown that the performance difference between the best cases and the worst cases is larger than about 1.5dB at same rate. It is expected that the results in this paper are applicable for the transform-domain scheme as well as the pixel-domain scheme.

Performance of digital video watermarking is an assessment that hides a lot of information in digital videos. Therefore, it is required to find a way that enables to store lots of bits of data into a high quality video of the frequency area of digital contents. Hence, this paper designs a watermarking system improving security with an enhancing watermarking based on invisible watermarking and embedding an watermarking on LH and HL subband and its subband by transforming wavelet after the extraction of luminance component from the frames of video by compromising robustness and invisible of watermarking elements. The performance analysis of security of watermarking is carried out with a statistic method, and makes an assessment of robustness against variety of attacks to invisible watermarking. We can verify the security of watermarking against variety of attacks by testing robustness and invisible through carrying out general signal processing like noise addition, lossy compression, and Low-Pass filtering.

The n-doping effect by doping metal carbonate into an electron-injecting organic layer can improve the device performance by the balanced carrier injection because an electron ohmic contact between cathode and an electron-transporting layer, for example, a high current density, a high efficiency, a high luminance, and a low power consumption. In the study, first, we investigated an electron-ohmic property of electron-only device, which has a ITO/$Rb_2CO_3$-doped $C_{60}$/Al structure. Second, we examined the I-V-L characteristics of all-ohmic OLEDs, which are glass/ITO/$MoO_x$-doped NPB (25%, 5 nm)/NPB (63 nm)/$Alq_3$ (32 nm)/$Rb_2CO_3$-doped $C_{60}$(y%, 10 nm)/Al. The $MoO_x$doped NPB and $Rb_2CO_3$-doped fullerene layer were used as the hole-ohmic contact and electron-ohmic contact layer in all-ohmic OLEDs, respectively, Third, the electronic structure of the $Rb_2CO_3$-doped $C_{60}$-doped interfaces were investigated by analyzing photoemission properties, such as x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), Ultraviolet Photoemission spectroscopy (UPS), and Near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy, as a doping concentration at the interfaces of $Rb_2CO_3$-doped fullerene are changed. Finally, the correlation between the device performance in all ohmic devices and the interfacial property of the $Rb_2CO_3$-doped $C_{60}$ thin film was discussed with an energy band diagram.

Recently, research on the Visual-MIMO by applying the concept of MIMO to communication between the LED array and camera is in progress. Although we already introduced the method for bit decision by using reference LED array pattern, it has the disadvantage of measuring the ISI each time when there is a change in the distance. To overcome this, in this paper, we propose a bit decision and error correction method used by using the luminance deviation without using the reference array pattern. First, we execute the bit decision using experimentally determined threshold. Next, we execute the error checking on the ON-LED and make a correction only if it is found to be error. Correction is determined by using the value of brightness deviation corresponding to the range of 68.2% (1) around the maximum frequency of the histogram for each ON-LED. We verify the performance of the proposed method according to the variation of ISI with distance by using both numerical and experimental analysis.
In this paper, we propose the advanced fire-flame detection algorithm using camera image for better performance than previous sensors-based systems which is limited on small area. Also, previous works using camera image were depend on a lot of heuristic thresholds or required an additional computation time. To solve these problems, we use statistical values and divide image into blocks to reduce the processing time. First, from the captured image, candidate flame regions are detected by a background model and fire colored models of the fire-flame. After the probability models are formed using the change of luminance, wavelet transform and the change of motion on time axis, they are used for membership function of fuzzy logic. Finally, the result function is made by the defuzzification, and the probability value of fire-flame is estimated. The proposed system has shown better performance when it compared to Toreyin's method which perform well among existing algorithms.
