초고층 건축물에서 배연창 개방이 연돌효과에 미치는 영향 (The Influence on the Stack Effect with the Opening of Smoke Ventilators in High-rise Buildings)

  • The effects on the performance of natural smoke exhaust ventilators installed in high-rise buildings were analyzed depending on the wind velocities and smoke temperatures using CONTAMW tool. The results showed that the smoke exhaust ventilators can maintain given performances in such conditions as low smoke temperatures and low wind velocities. However, high smoke temperatures and high wind velocities can prevent the smoke ventilators to exhaust smokes from the fire room. Significant changes in stack effects in high-rise buildings can also occur with the opening of smoke ventilators in the fire floor.

  • 금 비스무스 용매를 사용하여 실리콘 박막을 사파이어, 보로실리케이트 그라스 기판상에 성장시켰다. 사파이어의 경우 $380~460^{\cire}C$ 에서 14 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 두께의 실리콘막이 성장되었으며, 그라스 기판의 경우 $420~520^{\circ}C$ 온도 범위에서 수백 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 사이즈의 큰 결정립이 형성되었다. 이결과는 저가의 박막태양전지를 제조하는데 응용될 것으로 사료된다.

초정밀 온도센서의 저온 영역 교정 장치 개발 (Development of the calibration system for very accurate thermometers at low temperatures)

  • For the accurate calibrations of thermometers at low temperatures, triple points of oxygen and argon have been realized using sealed-type triple point cells. The triple points were realized with both adiabatic and continuous heating methods. The resistance of three capsule-type standard platinum resistance thermometers were measured at the triple points of oxygen, argon, mercury and water for the calibrations of these thermometers in the range from $-220^{\circ}C$ to $0.01^{\circ}C$. The extended uncertainty, with the coverage factor of 2, of the calibration in this range is smaller than 1 mK.

  • A new zirconium alloy, low-Sn Zircaloy-4 was investigated to see the effects of high pressure steam on the oxidation at high temperatures. High pressure steam turned out to enhance the oxidation at high temperatures below $1000^{\circ}C$. The oxide layer groved to deviate from the uniform layer under high steam pressures, and usually cracks were found at the thicker parts in the oxide layer. High pressure steam seems to destabilize the tetragonal oxides near the metal layer, and the monoclinic oxides transformed from the destabilized tetragonal oxides are structurally not sound, resulting in enhanced oxidation under high pressure steam.

  • A study of high-pressure n-heptane droplet vaporization is conducted with emphasis placed on equilibrium at vapor-liquid interface. General frame of previous rigorous model[1] is retained but tailored for flash equilibrium calculation of vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics. The model is based on complete time-dependent conservation equations with a full account of variable properties and vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics. The influences of high-pressure phenomena, including ambient gas solubility, thermodynamic non-ideality, and property variation on the droplet evaporation are investigated. The governing equations and associated moving interfacial boundary conditions are solved numerically using a implicit scheme with the preconditioning method and the dual time integration technique. And a parametric study of entire droplet vaporization history as a function of ambient pressure, temperature has been conducted. Some computational results are compared with Sato's experimental data for the validation of calculations. For low ambient temperatures, the droplet lifetime first increases with pressures, then decreases for high pressures. For higher ambient temperatures, the droplet lifetime increase with less amplitude than that of low ambient temperatures, which then decreases with more amplitude than that of low temperatures. The solubility of nitrogen can not be neglected in the high pressure and it becomes higher as the pressure goes up.

Morphological characteristics and nutrient removal efficiency of granular PAO and DPAO SBRs operating at different temperatures

  • Biological nutrient removal is gaining increasing attention in wastewater treatment plants; however, it is adversely affected by low temperatures. This study examined temperature effects on nutrient removal and morphological stability of the granular and denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms (PAO and DPAO, respectively) using sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) at 5, 10, and 20 ℃. Lab-scale SBRs were continuously operated using anaerobic-anoxic and anaerobic-oxic cycles to develop the PAO and DPAO granules for 230 d. Sludge granulation in the two SBRs was observed after approximately 200 d. The average removal efficiency of soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) and PO43--P remained >90% throughout, even when the temperature dropped to 5 ℃. The average removal efficiency of NO3--N remained >80% consistently in DPAO SBR. However, nitrification drastically decreased at 10 ℃. Hence, the removal efficiency of NH4+-N was decreased from 99.1% to 54.5% in PAO SBR. Owing to the increased oxygen penetration depth at low temperatures, the influence on nitrification rates was limited. The granule in DPAO and PAO SBR was observed to be unstable and disintegrated at 10 ℃. In conclusion, morphological characteristics showed that changed conversion rates at low temperatures in aerobic granular sludge altered both nutrient removal efficiencies and granule formation.

  • 폐타이어 고무분말은 도로 유지 및 보수제로 아스팔트 바인더의 개질제로 사용되고 있다. 도로보수제인 폐타이어 고무분말 개질 아스팔트 (crumb rubber modified asphalt, CRMA) 실란트에 필요한 접착특성은 저온에서 아스팔트 바인더의 취성과 접착파괴특성 때문에 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저온에서 CRMAs의 개질제로서 유연제의 영향을 조사하였다. 저온에서 CRMAs의 특성은 침입도, 연화점, 인장 및 인장접착시험을 통하여 측정하였다. 유연제를 도입한 CRMAs에서 CR과 아스팔트바인더의 연성변형이 증가함에 따라 인장접착강도와 변형률이 증가하였다. 저온영역에서 CRMAs의 인장특성과 접착특성은 유연제의 함량이 중요한 요소임을 발견하였다.

  • End-gas temperatures were measured using CARS technique in a conventional DOHC spark- ignition engine fueled with PRF80. The measured pressure data were analyzed using band pass filter method. The measured CARS temperatures were compared with adiabatic core temperatures calculated from measured pressures. Significant heating by pre-flame reaction in the end gas zone was observed in the late part of compression stroke under both knocking and non-knocking conditions. CARS temperatures measured at 10 crank angle degree before knock occurrence was higher than adiabatic core temperatures. These results indicate that there exist some exothermic reactions in low pressure and temperature region. CARS temperatures began to be higher than the adiabatic core temperature when the end-gas temperatures reached look. The temperature elevation due to the pre-flame reaction correlated better with CARS temperature than with cylinder pressure.

전구 대양의 극저 해수면온도 공간 분포와 지구과학교과서 데이터 시각화 분석 (Spatial Distribution of Extremely Low Sea-Surface Temperature in the Global Ocean and Analysis of Data Visualization in Earth Science Textbooks)

  • 해수면온도는 해양-대기 상호작용, 열속 변화, 대양의 해양 순환을 이해할 수 있는 가장 중요한 해양 변수들 중의 하나이다. 0℃ 이하 -2℃까지 극저 해수면온도는 기후변화 및 지구환경 변화를 유도하고 조절하기 때문에 다른 범위의 해수면온도보다 더 중요하게 다루어져야 한다. 전구 대양에서 이러한 극저 해수면온도의 시간적 공간적 변동성을 이해하기 위하여 1982년부터 2018년까지의 기간 동안 관측된 인공위성 일별 해수면온도 데이터베이스를 활용하여 평균 기후장을 산출하였다. 또한 장기간의 해양 실측 자료에 기반하여 생산된 표층 수온의 기후 평균장을 활용하여 극저 해수면온도가 전구 대양에서 존재하는 해역과 0℃ 등온선의 월별 공간 변동을 분석하였다. 그 결과 극저 해수면온도는 북극해와 남극해와 같은 극지 해역과 고위도의 연해에서 상당한 해양의 표면적을 차지하고 있었다. 이러한 극저 해수면 온도가 어떻게 시각화되어 있는지 검토하기 위하여 6종 지구과학교과서를 분석하였다. 대부분의 교과서에서 해수면온도 삽화는 0℃ 혹은 그 이상 수온에서 부터 도시하여 학생들이 극저 해수면온도에 대한 개념과 역할에 대한 이해를 획득하는 것을 저해하고 있었다. 데이터 시각화는 데이터 리터러시의 주요한 요소 중에 하나이므로 위성 해수면온도 자료가 교과서에 적절하게 시각화되도록 교과서 삽화의 개선이 필요하다. 본 연구는 인공위성 해수면온도 자료와 해양 실측 자료를 활용하여 해양 데이터의 시각화를 통하여 해양학적 소양과 데이터 리터러시가 동시에 함양되고 강화될 수 있음을 강조하였다.
