  • This paper proposes a new GSC (Generalized Sidelobe Canceller) structure, called HLMS-GSC. Compared to Griffiths and Jim's GSC structure, the number of complex multiplication required is reduced to one half. The simulation results show that the minimum mean square errors and performance of nulling jammers by using HLMS-GSC are almost the same compared to Griffiths and Jim's GSC, although the complexity is reduced significantly. As a result, the proposed adaptive beamformer is good for real time implementation, since it has low complexity compared to previous GSC structures.

  • In this research, optimization of a dual-band dipole array was performed using genetic algorithm. A non-uniform, aperture-shared linear array was configured with dipoles which resonate at 4 GHz and 9.5 GHz. The excited current distributions on dipoles were computed considering mutual coupling between dipole elements. The current distributions were also computed using method of moment (MoM). The optimization using genetic algorithm was performed to obtain the low sidelobe levels in two operating frequency band. The PSLs of the optimized array for 4 GHz and 9.5 GHz are -15.7 dB and -17 dB, respectively. Comparison between computed and simulated results are also discussed.

  • In this paper, the shaped offset Cassegrain antenna with low sidelobe, low cross-polar level, and high efficiency is designed. The design data is presented for shaping scheme. The validity of radi-ation characteristics is accomplished by comparing the result of measurement with numerical calculation and design goal. Experimental results of designed antenna are in good agreement with design goal except efficiency.

  • In this paper, we consider a representative integral imaging method in glasses-free 3D image processing and propose a prioritized transmission scheme for guaranteeing a received video quality in error-prone environments. According to the correlation of pixels consisting of each voxel of integral image, we set the priority differently and apply the modulation level according to this priority value. That is to say, the corresponding pixels with small variance are set to a high priority and transmitted by using a low level modulation that is robust under transmission errors, but the corresponding pixels with greater variance are set to a lower priority and transmitted by using a high level modulation that has a high bit error rate but fast transmission rate. Result shows that the proposed scheme that applies the error-robust modulation level to the important image bit stream with the high priority improves the peak to sidelobe ratio (PSR) of the received 3D image, compared with a typical method that use the same modulation level without distinction of priorities.

  • Griffiths and Jim has proposed a beamforming structure called GSC algorithm, in which antenna elements are grouped into main-channel and sub-channel, and sidelobe is reduced by applying adaptive LMS algorithm. This paper proposes WLMS-GSC algorithm where the Haar and Daubechies wavelet filters are used to process array antenna output, instead of using subtractor filter. We analyze characteristics of the proposed WLMS-GSC algorithm. The WLMS-GSC has characteristic of reducing the computational requirement one-half compared to the LMS-GSC algorithm. In addition, we obtain MSE characteristics and adaptive beampattern of WLMS-GSC algorithm, and compared with the performance of LMS-GSC algorithm. The simulation results show that the WLMS-GSC algorithm proposed in this paper gives better or almost the same performance, compared to the LMS-GSC algorithm. In addition, the newly proposed structure has advantage of low computational requirements.

  • A 6.5 - 8.5 GHz CMOS UWB transmitter is implemented using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The transmitter is mainly composed of switched LC VCO and digital pulse generator (DPG). Using RF switch and DPG, the uniform power and sidelobe rejection are achieved irrespective of the carrier frequency. The measured UWB carrier frequency range is 7 ~ 8 GHz and the pulse width is tunable from 1 to 2 ns. The measured energy efficiency per pulse is 2.1 % and the power consumption is 0.6 mW at 10 Mbps without the buffer amplifier. The chip core size is $0.72mm^2$.

  • This paper is about design of optimal structure of slot antenna array antenna with inner waveguide in accordance with the slot model, and fabrication of its prototype sample operating at the frequency of 24 GHz. Results of this work can be employed as a useful tool to develop and diversify slot antenna having superior performance and omni-directivity to that of current antenna. The implemented antenna demonstrates ultra-wideband performance for frequency ranges 24 GHz with the relatively high and flat antenna gain of 18.64dBi and low sidelobe levels. In addition, a $2{\times}8$ antenna array for phased-array systems and mm-wave sensor applications is also presented.

  • A monopulse feeder gives the most important impact upon the radiation pattern characteristics of a multi-function radar or a tracking radar which uses the space feed. It is described that the triple-mode type monopulse feeder which possesses the optimum aperture illumination for three monopulse channels is designed and measured in this paper. The measured results show that the designed feeder has not only the characteristics of the optimum aperture illimination in each channel and also very low return loss over the 10 % of fractional bandwidth at X-band. This means that the feeder provides the antenna system with low sidelobe level and high monopulse slope characteristics.
