  • 최근 저전력 소모와 얇은 두께, 무수은, 다양한 색표현력, 빠른 응답 속도 등의 다양한 장점을 가진 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 광원으로 이용하는 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) TV가 큰 주목을 받고 있다. 이러한 LCD TV의 화면을 균등한 휘도로 표현하기 위해 기존의 구동회로는 다 채널의 LED를 정전류로 제어하는 DC/DC 컨버터가 각각 적용되었고, 이는 원가 상승 및 효율 저하의 원인이 되었다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 각 LED 채널에 적용되는 DC/DC 컨버터 없이 트랜스포머를 이용하여 모든 LED 채널의 정전류 제어가 가능한 고효율 저가격형 구동회로를 제안하고, 이에 대한 이론적 해석을 제시한다. 최종적으로 제안 회로를 46" LCD TV 백라이트에 적용하여 그 실험 결과를 바탕으로 제안 회로의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • Under the hostile influence of the extreme space environmental conditions due to the deep space and direct solar flux, the thermal control in space applications is especially of major importance. There are tight temperature range restrictions for electro-optical elements while on the other hand there are low power consumption requirements due to the limited energy sources on the spacecraft. So, we usually have strong requirement of thermal and power control module in space applications. In this paper, the design concept of a thermal and power control module in the MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) system which will be a payload on KOMPSATII is described in terms of H/W & S/W. This thermal and power control module, called THTM(Thermal and Telemetry Module) in MSC, resides inside the PMU(Payload Management Unit) which is responsible for the proper management of the MSC payload for controlling and monitoring the temperature insides the EOS(Electro-Optic System) and gathering all the analog telemetry from all the MSC sub-units, etc. Particularly, the designed heater controller has the special mode of "duty cycle" in addition to normal closed loop control mode as usual. THTM controls heaters in open loop according to on/off set time designed through analysis in duty cycle mode in case of all thermistor failure whereas it controls heaters by comparing the thermistor value to temperature based on closed loop in normal mode. And a designed THTM provides a checking and protection method against the failure in thermal control command using the test pulse in command itself.

블루투스 비콘 기술의 광업 및 건설 분야 활용을 위한 특징과 적용사례 분석 (Analysis of Features and Applications of Bluetooth Beacon Technology for Utilization in the Mining and Construction Industries)

  • 본 연구에서는 블루투스 비콘 기술의 광업 및 건설 분야 활용을 위해 기술의 특징과 다양한 활용사례를 조사하고, 분석하였다. 문헌 조사를 통해 블루투스 기술의 개념과 버전별 특징을 정리하였고, 블루투스 비콘 기반 서비스의 대표적인 유형과 타 분야에서의 실제 활용사례를 분석하였다. 광업 분야에서는 구버전인 블루투스 클래식 기술을 활용한 기존의 연구사례는 있으나 블루투스 비콘 기술을 활용한 사례는 발견할 수 없었다. 건설 분야에서는 최근에 블루투스 비콘 기술을 활용하여 현장의 원자재 운반 작업을 개선한 사례를 발견할 수 있었다. 블루투스 비콘 기술은 전력 소비량이 작고 스마트폰과 연동이 용이한 장점이 있으므로 기술 개발을 통해 광업 및 건설 분야에 도입할 경우 현장의 생산성과 안전성 개선을 위해 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

인크리멘탈 성형을 이용한 마그네슘 합금 판재의 성형변수에 관한 연구 (A parametric Study in Incremental Forming of Magnesium Alloy Sheet)

  • Using lightweight materials in vehicle manufacturing in order to reduce energy consumption is one of the most effective approach to decrease pollutant emissions. As a lightweight material, magnesium is increasingly employed in automotive parts. However, because of its hexagonal closed-packed(HCP) crystal structure, in which only the basal plane can move, the magnesium alloy sheets show low ductility and formability at room temperature. Thus the press forming of magnesium alloy sheets has been performed at elevated temperature within range of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}250^{\circ}C$. Here we try the possibility of sheet metal forming at room temperature by adopting incremental forming technique with rotating tool, which is so called as rotational-incremental sheet forming(RISF). In this rotational-incremental sheet forming the spindle tool rotates on the surface of the sheet metal and moves incrementally with small pitch to fit the sheet metal on the desired shape. There are various variables defining the formability of sheet metals in the incremental forming such as speed of spindle, pitch size, lubricants, etc. In this study, we clarified the effects of spindle speed and pitch size upon formability of magnesium alloy sheets at room temperature. In case of 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4mm of pitch size with hemispherical rotating tool of 6.0mm radius, the maximum temperature at contact area between rotating tool and sheet metal were $119.2^{\circ}C,\;130.8^{\circ}C,\;and\;177.3^{\circ}C$. Also in case of 300, 500, and 700rpm of spindle speed, the maximum temperature at the contact area were $109.7^{\circ}C,\;130.8^{\circ}C\;and\;189.8^{\circ}C$.

$\mu$-설계법에 의한 저속 박용디젤기관의 속도제어기 설계 (A speed controller design for low speed marine diesel engine by the $\mu$-synthesis)

  • In the field of marine transportation the energy saving is one of the most important factors for profit. In order to reduce the fuel oil consumption the ship's propulsion efficiency must be increased as much as possible. The propulsion efficiency depends upon a combination of an engine and a propeller. The propeller has better efficiency as lower rotational speed. This situation led the engine manufacturers to design the engine that has lower speed, longer stroke and a small number of cylinders. Consequently the variation of rotational torque became larger than before because of the longer delay-time in the fuel oil injection process and an increased output per cylinder. As this new trends the conventional mechanical-hydrualic governors for engine speed control have been replaced by digital speed controllers which adopted the PID control or the optimal control algorithm. But these control algorithms have not enough robustness to suppress the variation of the delay-time and the parameter pertubation. In this paper we consider the delay-time and the perturbation of engine parameters as the modeling uncetainties. Next we design the controller which has zero offset in steady state engine speed, based on the two-degree-of-freedom control theory and $\mu$-synthesis. Thd validity of the controller is investigated through the response simulation. We use a personal computer and an analog computer as the digital controller and the engine (plant) part respectively. And, we certify that the designed controller maintains its performance even though the engine parameters may vary.

The association of potassium intake with bone mineral density and the prevalence of osteoporosis among older Korean adults

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and results in vulnerability to fracture. Calcium and vitamin D are known to play an important role in bone health. Recently, potassium has been identified as another important factor in skeletal health. We examined the link between potassium intake and bone health among the Korean older adult population. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This retrospective, cross-sectional study included 8,732 men and postmenopausal women over 50 years old who completed the Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES) between 2008 and 2011. Potassium consumption was evaluated using a 24-hour recall method. Bone mineral density (BMD) was measured at three sites (total hip, femur neck, and lumbar spine) by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Multinomial logistic regression was used to examine the link between potassium intake and prevalence of osteoporosis and osteopenia, after controlling for potential confounding variables. RESULTS: The BMD of the total femur and Ward's triangle were significantly different according to the potassium intake among men (P = 0.031 and P = 0.010, respectively). Women in the top tertile for potassium intake showed higher BMD than those in the bottom tertile at all measurement sites (all P < 0.05). Daily potassium intake was significantly related to a decreased risk of osteoporosis at the lumbar spine in postmenopausal women (odds ratios: 0.68, 95% confidence interval: 0.48-0.96, P trend = 0.031). However, the dietary potassium level was not related to the risk of osteoporosis in men. CONCLUSION: Current findings indicate that higher dietary potassium levels have a favorable effect on bone health and preventing osteoporosis in older Korean women.

상황 인식 모바일 컴퓨팅을 위한 사운드 분류 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Sound Classification System for Context-Aware Mobile Computing)

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트폰 사용자의 실시간 상황 인식을 위한 효과적인 사운드 분류 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 전처리 과정에서 입력 사운드 데이터로부터 고요한 사운드와 화이트 노이즈를 미리 여과해버림으로써, 제한적인 계산 자원의 불필요한 소모를 막을 수 있다. 또한 에너지 레벨이 낮은 사운드 데이터들은 사전에 증폭시킴으로써, 이들에 대한 분류 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또, 제안하는 사운드 분류 시스템은 HMM 분류 모델의 효율적인 학습과 적용을 위해 k-평균 군집화를 이용하여 특징 벡터들에 대한 차원 축소와 이산화를 수행한다. 한 대학 연구동내 일상생활로부터 수집한 8가지 유형의 사운드 데이터 집합을 이용하여 제안한 시스템의 성능 분석 실험을 수행하였다. 이 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 사운드 분류 시스템은 높은 분류 성능을 보여 주었다.

연비 평가를 위한 6속 DCT기반 HEV 성능 시뮬레이터의 개발 (Development of Performance Simulator for 6-speed DCT-based Hybrid Electric Vehicle to Evaluate the Fuel Economy)

  • With aggravation of environmental contamination and energy resource exhaustion, Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) that can be economically operated with low fuel consumption are receiving greater attention. For performance improvement of such HEV, the development of efficient transmission can be seen as one of core technologies such as performance of components and driving strategy. Dual clutch transmission (DCT) is actively studied as a transmission type for HEV due to its advantages of having excellent power transmission efficiency based on manual transmission characteristic, resolving the problem of power interruption, and realizing driving convenience of automatic transmission (AT). In this paper, one diesel HEV equipped with 6-Speed DCT, modelled using MATLAB/Simulink, and a performance simulator developed for this vehicle are introduced. Driving simulation with driving cycles such as FTP75 and NYCC was performed using the developed performance simulator, and the simulated results regarding state of charge and fuel economy, when AT and DCT are applied to this diesel hybrid vehicle respectively, are compared. This performance simulator can be utilized to develop a control algorithm for improving the fuel economy of HEV with DCT.

지능형 태양광 전력 관리 시스템 (아두이노 저전력 제어를 중심으로) (Smart Solar Control System: Based on the Low-Power Control of Arduino Board)

  • 융복합 응용의 일반화로 라즈베리파이나 아두이노 임베디드형 제어 보드의 활용이 늘고 있다. 이러한 제어장치 설치는 상시 전력이 부재한 상황에서도 운영되어야 하는 경우가 많다. 이러한 경우에 흔히 태양광을 이용하기 때문에 충분한 전력 확보가 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 저전력 환경 하에서도 작동할 수 있는 효과적인 제어 체계를 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 구성한 실험 기기는 일정한 주기별로 DSLR 카메라 촬영하는 장치이다. 장치의 제어 모듈은 라즈베리파이와 아두이노 보드를 결합한 복합물이며, 아두이노 보드가 정해진 주기별로 라즈베리파이 보드를 동작시키도록 구성하였다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 전력 제어를 위한 프로그램을 개발하였고 이 펌웨어에 의하여 라즈베리파이의 전력 소모를 일자별, 시간별로 측정하여 전체 시스템의 효율성을 검증하였다. 아두이노 보드는 정한 간격마다 라즈베리파이에 전력을 공급하여 카메라에 슈팅 신호를 전송하도록 하였다. 실험결과, 10일간의 실험 기간 동안 일정하고 안정적인 전력 소모가 측정되었다. 결국 아두이노를 결합하여 절전하는 경우 라즈베리의 소비전력량을 약 81% 절감한 것으로 조사되었다.

Structural health monitoring of a cable-stayed bridge using smart sensor technology: deployment and evaluation

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil infrastructure using wireless smart sensor networks (WSSNs) has received significant public attention in recent years. The benefits of WSSNs are that they are low-cost, easy to install, and provide effective data management via on-board computation. This paper reports on the deployment and evaluation of a state-of-the-art WSSN on the new Jindo Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge in South Korea with a 344-m main span and two 70-m side spans. The central components of the WSSN deployment are the Imote2 smart sensor platforms, a custom-designed multimetric sensor boards, base stations, and software provided by the Illinois Structural Health Monitoring Project (ISHMP) Services Toolsuite. In total, 70 sensor nodes and two base stations have been deployed to monitor the bridge using an autonomous SHM application with excessive wind and vibration triggering the system to initiate monitoring. Additionally, the performance of the system is evaluated in terms of hardware durability, software stability, power consumption and energy harvesting capabilities. The Jindo Bridge SHM system constitutes the largest deployment of wireless smart sensors for civil infrastructure monitoring to date. This deployment demonstrates the strong potential of WSSNs for monitoring of large scale civil infrastructure.
