  • This paper deals with the problem of determining optimal credit period and production lot size from the perspective of producer. We assume that a ratailer jointly determines the unit retail price and order size to maximize profit when he/she puechases a product for which the producer offers a trade credit. Two widely used demand functions are adopted for the study in which demands are decreasing function of the retail price. Mathematical models for producer-retailer system are developed and a solution procedure is presented which show how to achieve an optimal length of trade credit and production lot size for producer. The effect of production rate on the behavior of both producer and retailer is also investigated using an example.

  • This paper considers an integrated one-vendor multi-buyer production-inventory model where the vendor manufactures multiple products in lot at their associated finite production rates. In the model, it is allowed for each product to be shipped in lot to the buyers even before the whole product production is not completed yet. Each product lot is dispatched to the associated buyer in a number of shipments. The buyers consume their products at fixed rates. The objective is to the production and shipment schedules in the integrated system, which minimizes the total cost per unit time. The total cost consists of production setup cost, inventory holding cost and shipment cost. For the model, an iterative optimal solution procedure with shipment consolidation policy incorporated. It is then tested through numerical experiments to show how efficient and effective the shipment consolidation policy is.

  • This is on-going project planned from June to August, 2003 for the development of sub-urban housing of 108 buildings on 30,000 pyung lot located in Dochuk-myun, Kwangju-si, Kyunggi-do. The Site is consist of 10 different building sizes ranging from 45pyung to 65pyung on 180 to 220pyung lot. Buyers can customize their types and functions based on given sizes. Most sub-urban housing until now was based on typical planning and had no regard for its characteristics of diverse location. To solve these problems, I designed each types according to its locational characteristics and gave each lot flexible shape to have identities. To take advantage of its undulation, I put playground and sports facilities like swimming pool and tennis court at the approach. Central square to the center and park and observatory to the top

  • Currently most of underground structures in domestic apartment projects are being designed for parking lot and essential parking area is growing due to the increase in car-holding number per household. Moreover, most underground parking lots of today are combined with basement, therefore a pleasant environment in underground space is strongly needed for the dwellers' use. However, there always occur high percentage of humidity and surface condensation in underground parking lot because of the nature of underground structure and they are having a bad influence on the comfort and health of dwellers. Therfore, this study is planned to compare and examine the porformance and properties of currently used construction methods to prevent condensation and finally present the most suitable method.

  • A flexible flow line(FFL) consists of several groups of identical machines. All work-orders flow along the same path through successive machine groups. Thus, we emphasized the balancing of workloads between machine groups in order to maximize total productivity. On the other hand, many different types of work-orders, in varying batch or lot sizes, are produced simultaneously. The mix of work-orders, their lot sizes, and the sequence in which they are produced affect the amount of workload. However, the work-orders and their lot sizes are prefixed and cannot be changed. Because of these reasons, we have developed an optimal route selection model using heuristic search and Min-Max algorithm for balancing the workload between machine groups in the FFL.

  • For the pleasant dwelling place, the most of apartments are designed with the increased green area ratio in ground space and the underground parking lot. However, the condensation in underground space has occasionally occurred due to the insufficient ventilation and insulation treatment. Despite reinforcement of the insulation treatment and mechanical ventilation for the preventing method of condensation. It seems difficult to expect preventing effects for the condensation without consideration of the thermal characteristic of structures. Furthermore, no fundamental measure has been established because maintenance work for these defects incurs a lot of costs and these defects could be occurred again. This study suggests a new method for preventing floor surface condensation through analyzing the reasons of condensation which occurred in the underground floor.

  • This paper analyzes the effects of setup cost reduction in a dynamic lot-sizing model for a single-facility multi-product problem. In the model, demands for each product are known, no backlogging is allowed, and a single resource is employed. Also, setup cost is defined as a function of capital expenditure to invest in setup cost reduction. Furthermore, in each production period the facility (or plant) produces many products, each representing a fixed part of the involved production activity (or input resource quantity). In this paper, the structure of the optimal solution is characterized and an efficient algorithm is proposed for simultaneously determining the optimal lot size with reduced setup cost and the optimal investment in setup cost reduction. Also, the proposed algorithm is illustrated by a numerical example with a linear and an exponential setup reduction functions.

  • In this paper, we consider a production system in which the items are produced by batch. For a production planning of the system, we formulate a lot-sizing problem in which each production should be a multiple of a given unit batch and backlogging is allowed. We propose an optimal dynamic programming algorithm for the plan whose complexity is $O(T^2)$ where T is the maximum number of periods in a plan.

  • The yield and quality of a micromanufacturing process are important management factors. In real-world situations, it is difficult to achieve a high yield from a manufacturing process because the products are produced through multiple nanoscale manufacturing processes. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the processes and equipment that lead to low yields. This paper proposes an analytical method to identify the processes and equipment that cause a defect in the plastic ball grid array (PBGA) during the manufacturing process using logistic regression and stepwise variable selection. The proposed method was tested with the lot trace records of a real work site. The records included the sequence of equipment that the lot had passed through and the number of faults of each type in the lot. We demonstrated that the test results reflect the real situation in a PBGA manufacturing process, and the major equipment parameters were then controlled to confirm the improvement in yield; the yield improved by approximately 20%.

  • The jointing of unsupported concrete on the parking lot floor is a process for cracking and stress relief due to concrete drying shrinkage and restraint, but curling occurs due to long-term drying shrinkage after the initial age. will be lowered Therefore, by using an expansion material and a shrinkage reducing agent, the dry shrinkage of concrete is realized to 200 με or less.
