  • Gyeongsangnam-do needed an employment stability response policy to induce re-employment of job seekers who retired due to large-scale unemployment and job instability following the employment crisis, and stable settlement and long-term employment after new employment. This study is to confirm the effective corporate support policy as an employment promotion strategy through new recruitment of the employment crisis in Gyeongsangnam-do. A total of 380 companies in Gyeongsangnam-do were targeted for the survey through online surveys and in-person surveys. As a result of the study, as a measure to improve working conditions through financial support for long-term employment stability, first, support for youth-middle-age asset formation of SME workers is required, and second, support for old-age income guarantee for SME workers was proposed. Third, direct corporate subsidies are continuously needed for job promotion and job stability of Gyeongsangnam-do companies.

  • This article examines the employment status of older male workers in the era of industrialization, focusing on the questions of how the extent of pressure toward retirement varied across different occupations, and how it changed over time. A comparison of hazard of retirement across occupations shows that men who had better occupations in terms of economic status and work conditions were less likely to retire than were those with poorer jobs. This result tends to reject the recent view that retirement was more voluntary than forced as early as a century ago. The difficulty faced by older workers in the labor market, as measured by the relative incidence of long-term unemployment, was relatively severe among craftsmen, operatives, and salesmen. In contrast, aged farmers, professionals, managers, and proprietors appear to have fared well in the labor market. The pattern of shifts in the occupational structure that occurred between 1880 and 1940 suggests that industrialization had brought a growth of the sectors in which the pressure toward departure from employment at older ages was relatively strong.

  • This work examines reemployment processes through the use of event history unemployment data in the United States. Two aspects of these processes, the duration of unemployment and changes in the reemployment rate, are modelled and analyzed in terms of individual characteristics and their structural positions in the labor market. The secondary labor market is a competitive market in which unemployment occurs because people quit their jobs to devote more time in search for better jobs. Using search theory, the rate of reemployment has a positive time dependence as the searcher lower her reservation wage with the passage of time. By contrast, the primary market is characterized by long-term employment relations which reduce voluntary turnovers but generate layoffs temporarily. Relying on contract theory, because workers on temporary layoffs wait for recall, reemployment rates have a constant time dependence. Empirical results of unemployment durations indicate that reemployment processes are influenced by individual's positions in dual labor market structures. While the analysis suggests that the amount of search reemployment seems to be positively related to the degree of competitiveness of a market, somewhat weaker results are noted in the search reemployment processes in competitive markets.

  • On the basis of data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY), this paper investigates wage consequences of cumulative experience of job displacement. Unlike previous studies, we consider two measures of cumulative unemployment experience simultaneously: the total frequency and the cumulative duration of unemployment induced by job displacement. When frequency and cumulative duration compete in a wage equation, only cumulative duration remains significant for men, while only frequency matters for women. For men, a one-month increase in the cumulative duration of displacement-initiated unemployment leads to a fall in wages by 0.4 percent. This finding is quite robust with respect to various sample restrictions and/or estimation methods. For women, approximately a 2.5 percent wage reduction is associated with an additional event of displacement.

  • This paper proposes a parsimonious periodic autoregressive (PAR) model. The proposed model performance is evaluated through an analysis of Korean unemployment rate series that is compared with existing models. We exploit some common features among each seasonality and confirm it by LR test for the parsimonious PAR model in order to impose a parsimonious structure on the PAR model. We observe that the PAR model tends to be superior to existing seasonal time series models in mid- and long-term forecasts. The proposed parsimonious model significantly improves forecasting performance.

  • This study begins with the assumption that the existing impact analysis studies did not present determinate criteria on which the studies were based. After we criticized the limitations of existing studies, we presented goal-based criteria and evaluated the long-term job-seekers subsidy as a case. This evaluation study is of micro-effect analysis which focuses on the effects on subsidized employees and employers. The Findings are: The subsidized employees were appropriately selected and can be taken as having difficulties in the labour market. The employment effect of the subsidy was significantly positive, though the wage effect was significantly negative. The effect of maintaining of skill measured by occupational mobility was positive, but not significant. The effect of increasing the quantity of employments in the subsidized companies were found significant. It could be proposed from the findings that the wage subsidy for the frail labour force is so effective as the subsidy for the employed labour force and could be boosted.

  • In the real estate industry, job creation is dominated by SOC financial investment expansion. Financial investment like SOC can induce employment only if is executed as cost of equipment by setting the budget as a long-term project. In this study, a hypothesis was set regarding how the real estate industry affects job creation, and makes suggestions based on analysis of relational structure among variables through the research model.
