Impact of Maintenance Outage Rate Modeling on the Minimum Reserve Rate in Long-term Generation Expansion Planning (예방정비율(MOR) 모델링 방식이 수급계획의 최소설비예비율 산정에 미치는 영향)

  • In South Korea, minimum reserve rate, which is to satisfy reliability standard, has been determined by simulation result using WASP. But, it is still controversial whether the level of minimum reserve rate is adequate. Thus, in this study, various analyses of minimum reserve rate are being conducted. WASP uses the probabilistic simulation technique to evaluate whether reliability standard is satisfied. In this process, forced outage rate and maintenance periods of each generator play important roles. Especially, the long-term plan can be varied depending on how maintenance periods deal with. In order to model maintenance periods in the probabilistic simulation technique, WASP uses derating method. However, broad analyses have to be conducted because there are various ways including derating method to model maintenance periods which result in different results. Therefore, in this paper, 3 different maintenance outage rate modeling methods are applied to arbitrarily modeled system based on the basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand of South Korea. Results show impact of each modeling method on minimum reserve rate.

  • Since a few decade ago, there has been a demand on the safety monitoring of civil infrastructures, such as bridges, in order to prevent possibly occurrable disaster due to human negligence. The main cause for a failure or collapse of structures is absolutely a structural crack. For the reason, it is necessary to monitor the propagation of a structural crack. But a crack in bridges is gradually propagating with the traffic loads through the long term. There are lots of sensors to monitor structural cracks on bridges, but much information about them was not given so far. Therefore, in this study, the experimental comparison for long-term monitoring sensors, especially, strain measurement sensors, in terms of duration, temperature dependency, accuracy was made extensively.

  • Compensatory changes in energy consumption and neuro-hormonal changes following weight loss make it difficult to maintain the reduced weight and may cause weight regain. Therefore, establishing a long-term weight control plan and strategy starting from the initial weight loss period is necessary. Both the patient and doctor should know that weight loss cannot occur continuously, and that maintaining weight after the weight loss period is the basic course of obesity treatment. No single dietary pattern is effective for weight maintenance, and a variety of dietary control methods - such as calorie restriction and healthy proportions of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and meal replacements - should be used to target an integrated and healthy dietary habit. An increase in physical activity is needed for weight loss and maintenance; however, rather than recommending an excessive amount of exercise, it is better to set realistic and long-term achievable goals. It is necessary to reset the goal according to the patient's weight maintenance stage and continuously apply behavioral therapies, such as self-monitoring and stress management. In previous studies, since the degree of weight loss and changes in behavioral patterns over the course of one year were important factors in maintaining long-term weight loss, obesity therapists should closely examine patient data and behavioral patterns across a period of one year and actively intervene when needed.

  • Based on the risk factor evaluation for the file format, this paper defines the procedures for presenting the long-term preservation plan for that format and the technical information registry necessary for building the system. This is a procedure to perform a risk assessment for the format, evaluate the risk, and select a long-term preservation strategy based on the information registered in the registry and information on the external signature and internal signature of the electronic record. We also reviewed the criteria for selecting appropriate long-term preservation strategies in the process and provided the criteria for adopting each detailed strategy of migration and emulation, which are long-term preservation strategies. And we implemented this process as a long-term preservation decision support system. This system can be used to provide guidelines for the maintenance, management, service and long-term preservation of information resources of electronic records in public institutions such as National Archives of Korea and Libraries.

  • This study as a demand of reconstruction allows the longevity of the multi complex, analyze the problems and solutions for a long term maintenance planning scheme, and how to save contingency fund to utilize. The major role of the multi complex housing market reflects Positively on our valuable society, provides a better life of environment on top of longevity and for the superior living duality. For a achievement and improvement existing long term maintenance Plan and contingency fund system should be considered as follows. First, shall be expanded more units of house as smaller group. Second, advice from expert shall be reconsidered, eliminated, and protected reorganizing an informal reconstruction planning comparatively legal procedure must be renegotiated and pursued. Third, the fund which saved for the contingency has to clarified as tax free item by government. It's not only mistreated as a limitation of personal asset but also treated as national source Despite of rather compulsive and constructive method must be noticed by whoever owns for, more positive follows, promotion and directing must be able to guide its understanding and adherence of importance and inevitability.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the maintenance condition and cost in the past ten year on the subject of permanent Rental Housing in Seoul and Gyeong-Gi. It also suggests the problems and improvements related to long-term maintenance. The Interviews with thirty experts who have had experience in this area more than ten years and data analysis are adopted as basic methods. The data on the maintenance cost such as a budget in practice by a term and the real cost far the repair are analyzed. The primary findings of this study are as follows : 1) the rate of maintenance cost for 13 years is $4.56\%$ when the prime construction cost is regarded, while the figure is $6.70\%$ when the construction cost is considered 2) it is just of forced the basic lists for repair applied commonly to Rental housing. Hence, individually managers consider the features of housing and determine the detail lists.

  • The general housing causes various environmental problems on the squandering of the resources and the production of the construction wastes, as it was removed and rebuilt because of the short-life in 20-30 years after constructing. The short-life of the general housing makes the rebuilt-term short and takes a negative attitude in maintenance. In the other hand, the long-life housing is constantly dwelling house that considers the carbon reduction among the world issues, Support and Infill. The long-life housing promotes the durability of Support and maximize the variability of Infill through separation of Support & Infill. It's useful dwelling house in maintenance as well as various life-cycle and life style. As the maintenance guideline of dwelling house is used for long-life housing, there is not distinction considering who controls maintenance and there is not conception considering alteration, variability and convenience. Consequently, it is required to develop the proper maintenance guideline applied maintenance process for long-life housing. Therefore this study shows efficient maintenance guideline for manager in long-life housing.

A Control Value Analysis on the Axial Force of Braced Excavation Walls Used In Korea (국내 적용되고 있는 흙막이구조물의 축력에 대한 관리기준치 분석)

  • This study aims to present a more reasonable control value than the exiting one by comparing and analyzing control values and field instrumentation values of the whole excavation depth of the four case sites using geometric averaging as a statistical method. The range of the study is confined to three things: (1) the axial force of the braced excavation walls among a variety of items prescribed in the control values by stress deformation of walls and adjacent structures; (2) by approximation of the allowable and design value; (3) and by safety factor. As a res it is desirable to revise "(Long term allowable stress + Short term allowable stress)/2 ~ Short term allowable stress," presented in the present control values by stress deformation of walls and adjacent structures, to "(Long term allowable stress + Short term allowable stress)/5 ~ (Short term allowable stress)/3." The result also shows that since there is a difference of about 3.5%, it is not necessary to revise 70, 90, and 100 percent of LEVEL I, II, and III, prescribed in the control values by the allowable and design value approximation. In addition, modifying the control value by the safety factor, now 1.07, is unnecessary, although it varies little difference from the present value.

  • Since the 1960s, though there were brisk supply in apartment housing, there were no preparation in standard for to extend the life(durability) of apartment housing by maintaining the $social{\cdot}physical$ aspect of apartment housing, and in standard maintenance system. So problem such as facilities safety and residence environment has occurred. Like the condition written above, efficient usage of housing resource by the maintenance of apartment housings in a state of great urgency. In service aspect of apartment housing, establishment of accurate long term repair plan and estimate of repair appropriation fund can prevent housing's fast-deterioration. But to the performers of the maintenance, like house managers and the tenants at the subject building has little awareness of necessity in establishment of accurate long term repair plan and accumulation of repair appropriation fund. Unestablishment of long term repair plan arises problem such as approval of repair appropriation fund's unreasonable accumulation. Hence, for the utmost performance of apartment housing and to extend the economic life of a building, the method of establishment of long term repair plan and estimate of repair appropriation fund on reliable basis is to be proposed.

Long-term Radiation Dose Reduction Plan of KHNP

  • Annual radiation dose limit to radiation worker was substantially lowered in Korea by the adoption of 1990 recommendations of the International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP 60) in its legislation. On the other hand, radiation management environment in nuclear power plants is getting more worse because of the accumulation of radiation sources inside the system and the frequent need for maintenance according as the operation years of nuclear power plants increase. Therefore, Korea Hydro & Nuclear power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) has established a long-term 10 years plan from 2001 to 2010 for the reduction of radiation dose to workers. The plan is aimed for the reduction of annual dose per unit averaged over 5 years from 0.9 man-Sv in 2001 to 0.75 man-Sv in 2010 by radiation source reduction, equipment/tool improvement or new equipment development for easy maintenance, and the improvement of administration and system.
