Optimal Design of a Branched Pipe Network with Multiple Sources

  • This paper is concerned with a branched pipe network system which transports some fluids or gas from multiple sources to multiple demand nodes. A nonlinear programming model is proposed for determining junction locations simultaneously with selection of pipe sizes and pump capacities such that the capital and operating costs of the system are minimized over a given planning horizon. To solve the model, a hierarchical decomposition method is developed with the junction location being the primary variable. With some values fixed for the primary, the other decision variables are found by linear programming. Then, using the postoptimality analysis of LP, junction locations are adjusted. We repeat this process until an optimum is approached. A simple example of designing a water distribution network is solved to illustrate the optimization procedure developed.

  • The objective of this study is to measure and to predict the efficiency of participating groups of BK 21 by using DEA. DEA is a methodology to measure and to evaluate the relative efficiency of a homogeneous set of decision-making units (DMUs) in a process which uses multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs. In order to reflect the effect of the environmental factors of BK 21, we consider not only a general DEA model but also a logistic model for DEA. As a result, location of participating groups of BK 21 turns out to be significant. Our proposed approach can predict the efficiency of a new BK 21 group with given environmental factors. It is expected that these models can give a feedback for effective management of BK 21.

  • 'Visual segment surface' means a surface that extends from the missed approach point of non precision approaches (or the decision altitude location for approaches with vertical guidance and precision approaches) to the threshold to facilitate the identification of and protection from obstacles in this visual segment of the approach. Validation is the necessary final quality assurance step in the procedure design process, prior to publication. The purpose of validation is the verification of all obstacle and navigation data, and assessment of flyability of the procedure. This paper shows how to apply the protection for the visual segment of the approach procedure, and the results of the validation for visual segment surface conducted at an airport.

  • In university of Korea, the computerization of facility management is lower level than other management areas such as educational matters, administration, library, computing center, teaching assistance, and teaching methodology. So we need urgently the blueprint for an information-oriented and integrated facility management system. In this research, It is presented and implemented an FMS(Facility Management System) for efficient management of the ground and underground facilities on a campus. This studies is computerized the drawings, protocols, and ledgers. It is used a GIS(Geographic Information System) to get the geographical information of facilities. The data more efficiently could be search and update on this system. The decision making process understanding the present facility condition, and analyzing the condition of location could be performed easily by the GUI(Graphic User Interface) of the system.

  • 본 논문에서는 실제 값과 같은 데이터의 불확실성과 유사성을 측정 할 수 있는 퍼지 엔트로피와 유사성 측정이 소개되고 있다. 퍼지 엔트로피와 유사성 측정의 디자인이 설명하고 입증했다. 획득 수단은 연산 프로세스에 적용되고 논의되었다. 이러한 의사 결정과 퍼지 게임 이론과 같은 데이터 정량화 결과의 연장도 논의되었다.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to describe and demonstrate a quantitative procedure for evaluating alternative material handling systems that are being considered for possible purchase. The procedure considers both quantitative factors(i.e. costs) and qualitative factors(i.e. equipment productivity) that should be considered in the evaluation process. Since these factors are not always quantifiable it is necessary that the procedure be able to quantify all factors in commensurable units. This is accomplished via a modification of the Brown and Gibson model for facility site location and selection. The model was demonstrated via a case example that encompassed the derivation of performance measures for three material handling systems.

  • Transportation in the logistics, many business organizations are engaged in monitoring and tracking the vehicles in order to improve logistics services, reduce expenses and secure security in cargo transportation. It is saving time and money by tracking and monitoring vehicles which transport cargo in supply chain of logistics. Therefore the main issue of delivery flow is to improve services, and ensure the safety in transportation system. This article suggests the tracking and monitoring model to keep safety transports on ICT network. It focuses on precise delivery control by monitoring and tracking vehicles to save time and costs. The status of product movement is analyzed for proper decision making. The vehicle embedded with RFID is automatically tracked in the movement process by tracking and monitoring model. The main role keeps safety tracking to reduce costs and to deliver products at proper time and location.

Random Forest Classifier-based Ship Type Prediction with Limited Ship Information of AIS and V-Pass

  • Identifying ship types is an important process to prevent illegal activities on territorial waters and assess marine traffic of Vessel Traffic Services Officer (VTSO). However, the Terrestrial Automatic Identification System (T-AIS) collected at the ground station has over 50% of vessels that do not contain the ship type information. Therefore, this study proposes a method of identifying ship types through the Random Forest Classifier (RFC) from dynamic and static data of AIS and V-Pass for one year and the Ulsan waters. With the hypothesis that six features, the speed, course, length, breadth, time, and location, enable to estimate of the ship type, four classification models were generated depending on length or breadth information since 81.9% of ships fully contain the two information. The accuracy were average 96.4% and 77.4% in the presence and absence of size information. The result shows that the proposed method is adaptable to identifying ship types.

계층적분석과정을 이용한 상수관로의 노후도 평가를 위한 항목별 가중치 산정 (Estimation of Deterioration Assessment for Weighting Factors in Pipes of Water Supply Systems Using Analytic Hierarchy Process)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 현재 지방자치단체에서 수행하는 상수관로 개량 및 교체 사업시 상수관로의 노후도 평가를 위한 항목별 가중치를 산정하는 것이다. 상수도시스템에 상수관로의 노후도 항목은 지역 및 위치, 토지이용 등의 특성에 영향을 받을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 자료를 바탕으로 국내 실정에 맞는 노후도 항목 16개를 선정하였다. 또한, 노후도 항목별 세분화된 가중치 산정을 위해 실무업체를 선정하여 해당 전문가들을 대상으로 노후도 항목별 중요도에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. 설문 조사 방법으로는 델피법을 이용하여 이 결과를 바탕으로 계층적분석과정(AHP)을 적용하여 노후항목별 가중치를 산정하였다. 분석결과 국내 실무에 적합한 16개 결함항목별 점수배점표를 작성하여 명확한 판단기준을 마련하였으며 관거 개량사업에 있어서 복잡한 의사결정 문제들에 대한 활용 가능성을 제시하였다.

텔레매틱스를 위한 이동통신망에서 이동 방향 추정에 근거한 자원 예약 (Direction Prediction Based Resource Reservation in Mobile Communication Networks for Telematics)

  • 멀티미디어 트래픽의 전송 중에 핸드오프가 발생하면 멀티미디어 트래픽의 QoS가 지연 및 손실에 의하여 영향 받기 때문에, 정지 상태에서의 경우와 대등한 QoS를 유지하기 위해서는 효율적인 자원 예약 및 할당 방안이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이동 멀티미디어 망에서 이동 단말기의 이동 방향 추정에 근거하여 자원을 예약하고, 멀티미디어 트래픽을 전송하는 핸드오프 방법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 퍼지 다기준 의사 결정 방법에 근거한 MT 추적을 적용한다. 이 방법에서 기존의 수신신호세기 이외에 MT와 기지국간의 거리, 이동 방향, 이전 위친 등의 다수의 부정확한 위치 결정 파리미터를 사용 함으로서 추정의 정확성을 증가시킨다. 이 위치 정보에 근거하여 이동 방향을 결정하고, 이를 이용하여 자원을 예약한다. 실시간 세션의 핸드오프 요구는, 이동 방향 정보에 근거하여 동적으로 예약되고 할당된다. 제안된 방법의 성능을 시뮬레이션에 의해 분석한다.
