  • In the case of receiving feedbacks from many receivers in the multimedia application using multicasting, the traffic congestion caused bp heavy traffic results in the problem of transmission rate decrease. In solving of this, the local representative method is adopted. However, the control of transmission rate in consideration of all receivers caused uncongested local transmission rate to get slower. In this paper, there is a local representative in solving of this problem. When the transmission rate of a group is less than minimum support threshold, the local representative recounts the transmission rate without congested receivers. Therefore, The local representative method has improved the problem that the transmission rate of uncongested local decreases. The result of this paper shows that this method provides stable transmission rate rather than those of existing methods.

  • This paper has proposed a single image based fog degree quantification method by measuring both transmission and local contrast. The proposed method estimates the foggy expected regions from transmission, and then assesses the size of regions of which transmission values are foggy expected ones and the range of local contrast value on such regions. Compared with fog degree gauged by the scattering coefficient measurement sensor, the proposed method quantifies the fog degree with more than 95% accuracy for images containing various objects and environments. We also developed a technique that measures the local contrast values in process of measuring transmission values. So, the proposed method does not increase complexity compared to the existing transmission method.

  • Reliable detection of primary user activity increases the opportunity to access temporarily unused bands and prevents harmful interference to the primary system. By extracting a global decision from local sensing results, cooperative sensing achieves high reliability against multipath fading. For the effective combining of sensing results, which is generalized by a likelihood ratio test, the fusion center should learn some parameters, such as the probabilities of primary transmission, false alarm, and detection at the local sensors. During the training period in supervised learning, the on/off log of primary transmission serves as the output label of decision statistics from the local sensor. In this paper, we extend unsupervised learning techniques with an expectation maximization algorithm for cooperative spectrum sensing, which does not require an external primary transmission log. Local sensors report binary hard decisions to the fusion center and adjust their operating points to enhance learning performance. Increasing the number of sensors, the joint-expectation step makes a confident classification on the primary transmission as in the supervised learning. Thereby, the proposed scheme provides accurate parameter estimates and a fast convergence rate even in low signal-to-noise ratio regimes, where the primary signal is dominated by the noise at the local sensors.

  • The aluminum extruded panel used for a high speed train shows the largest contribution to sound insulation performance of the train body. However, comparing with the flat panel having the same weight, the transmission loss falls sharply in the local resonance frequency band. Such fall of transmission loss can be improved by increasing the damping of local resonance. This study examines the charging effect of an urethane foam on the aluminum extruded panel of a high speed train. We charged the urethane foam with different mass density and in different way in the core part of the extruded panel. We measure the transmission loss and compare the sound insulation performance according to the density and charging method. Finally, Improvement effect of the transmission loss is compared and analysed in aspect of weight increment.

  • This paper presents a fault location algorithm based on the adaptively estimated value of the local sequence source impedance for faults on a parallel transmission line. This algorithm uses only the local voltage and current signals of a faulted circuit. The remote current signals and the zero-sequence current of the healthy adjacent circuit are calculated by using the current distribution factors together with the local terminal currents of the faulted circuit. The current distribution factors consist of local equivalent source impedance and the others such as fault distance, line impedance and remote equivalent source impedance. It means that the values of the current distribution factors can change according to the operation condition of a power system. Consequently, the accuracy of the fault location algorithm is affected by the two values of equivalent source impedances, one is local source impedance and the other is remote source impedance. Nevertheless, only the local equivalent impedance can be estimated in this paper. A series of test results using EMTP simulation data show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm is valid for a double-circuit transmission line system where the equivalent source impedance changes continuously.

  • Characteristics of local vibration modes of a corrugated panel are investigated by finite element analysis and modal testing. Structural modification model in the corrugation is proposed to increase the resonance frequency. This model decreases the fall by the local resonance in the transmission loss of the corrugated pallet and improves sound insulation performance. Damping effect of tile foam filled ill tile core cavity is also estimated by experiment The results of tile study offer useful information how to predict the severe local resonances in corrugations and how to prevent their undesirable effect ell the sound insulation and the vibration transmission.

  • In the application rising IP multicast, the waste of available bandwidth occurs of reducing of transmission rate in non-congestion local caused by reducing of transmission rate in congestion local. In this paper, to solve such a problem, we propose a dynamic multicast method using IP multicast and overlay multicast. In proposed method, we elected a local representative for overlay multicasting. When the transmission rate of a group is less than transmission rate threshold, the representative can transmits duplicative packets. In simulation results, it was known that proposed method uses bandwidth more efficiently.

  • Sound transmission characteristics are investigated on the aluminium extruded panels used for railway vehicles. An equivalent orthotropic plate model and mass law are applied to predict the sound transmission loss. An extruded panel specimen used in the floor of railway vehicles is manufactured and is tested to measure sound transmission loss by two reverberant chamber method. Predicted transmission loss I compared with measured values and the effect of local resonance on the transmission characteristics is identified. The results are applied to design the extruded panel having better sound insulation performance.

  • Transmission congestion is one of the key factors to local market power in competitive electricity markets. Financial transmission rights provide the financial protection to their holders by paying back the congestion rent. A variety researches have shown that the existing trading mechanisms on transmission right can exacerbate market power. This paper proposes an alternative methodology in mitigating the local market power using the Contingent Transmission Rights on the locational marginal pricing scheme. The proposed methodology was demonstrated with the Optimal Power Flow.
