  • Vector fields in three-space admit bundles of internal variables such as a Heisenberg algebra bundle. Information transmission along field lines of vector fields is described by a wave linked to the Schrodinger representation in the realm of time-frequency analysis. The preservation of local information causes geometric optics and a quantization scheme. A natural circle bundle models quantum information visualized by holographic methods. Features of this setting are applied to magnetic resonance imaging.

  • We derive an It${\hat{o}}$ formula for generalized functionals for the fractional Brownian sheet with arbitrary Hurst parameter ${H_1},\;H_2$ ${\epsilon}$ (0,1). As an application, we consider a stochastic integral representation for the local time of the fractional Brownian sheet.

Enhanced VLAD

  • Recently, Vector of Locally Aggregated Descriptors (VLAD) has been proposed to index image by compact representations, which encodes powerful local descriptors and makes significant improvement on search performance with less memory compared against the state of art. However, its performance relies heavily on the size of the codebook which is used to generate VLAD representation. It indicates better accuracy needs higher dimensional representation. Thus, more memory overhead is needed. In this paper, we enhance VLAD image representation by using two level hierarchical-codebooks. It can provide more accurate search performance while keeping the VLAD size unchanged. In addition, hierarchical-codebooks are used to construct multiple inverted files for more accurate non-exhaustive search. Experimental results show that our method can make significant improvement on both VLAD image representation and non-exhaustive search.

Weighted Collaborative Representation and Sparse Difference-Based Hyperspectral Anomaly Detection

  • Aiming at the problem that the Local Sparse Difference Index algorithm has low accuracy and low efficiency when detecting target anomalies in a hyperspectral image, this paper proposes a Weighted Collaborative Representation and Sparse Difference-Based Hyperspectral Anomaly Detection algorithm, to improve detection accuracy for a hyperspectral image. First, the band subspace is divided according to the band correlation coefficient, which avoids the situation in which there are multiple solutions of the sparse coefficient vector caused by too many bands. Then, the appropriate double-window model is selected, and the background dictionary constructed and weighted according to Euclidean distance, which reduces the influence of mixing anomalous components of the background on the solution of the sparse coefficient vector. Finally, the sparse coefficient vector is solved by the collaborative representation method, and the sparse difference index is calculated to complete the anomaly detection. To prove the effectiveness, the proposed algorithm is compared with the RX, LRX, and LSD algorithms in simulating and analyzing two AVIRIS hyperspectral images. The results show that the proposed algorithm has higher accuracy and a lower false-alarm rate, and yields better results.

Object Tracking with Sparse Representation based on HOG and LBP Features

  • Visual object tracking is a fundamental problem in the field of computer vision, as it needs a proper model to account for drastic appearance changes that are caused by shape, textural, and illumination variations. In this paper, we propose a feature-based visual-object-tracking method with a sparse representation. Generally, most appearance-based models use the gray-scale pixel values of the input image, but this might be insufficient for a description of the target object under a variety of conditions. To obtain the proper information regarding the target object, the following combination of features has been exploited as a corresponding representation: First, the features of the target templates are extracted by using the HOG (histogram of gradient) and LBPs (local binary patterns); secondly, a feature-based sparsity is attained by solving the minimization problems, whereby the target object is represented by the selection of the minimum reconstruction error. The strengths of both features are exploited to enhance the overall performance of the tracker; furthermore, the proposed method is integrated with the particle-filter framework and achieves a promising result in terms of challenging tracking videos.

SAR Image De-noising Based on Residual Image Fusion and Sparse Representation

  • Since the birth of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), it has been widely used in the military field and so on. However, the existence of speckle noise makes a good deal inconvenience for the subsequent image processing. The continuous development of sparse representation (SR) opens a new field for the speckle suppressing of SAR image. Although the SR de-noising may be effective, the over-smooth phenomenon still has bad influence on the integrity of the image information. In this paper, one novel SAR image de-noising method based on residual image fusion and sparse representation is proposed. Firstly we can get the similar block groups by the non-local similar block matching method (NLS-BM). Then SR de-noising based on the adaptive K-means singular value decomposition (K-SVD) is adopted to obtain the initial de-noised image and residual image. The residual image is processed by Shearlet transform (ST), and the corresponding de-noising methods are applied on it. Finally, in ST domain the low-frequency and high-frequency components of the initial de-noised and residual image are fused respectively by relevant fusion rules. The final de-noised image can be recovered by inverse ST. Experimental results show the proposed method can not only suppress the speckle effectively, but also save more details and other useful information of the original SAR image, which could provide more authentic and credible records for the follow-up image processing.

  • In this paper we use the Isometric Projection, a linear subspace method, for manifold representation of the pose-varying-faces. Isometric Projection method for pose identification is evaluated on view varying faces and is compared with other global and local linear subspace methods.

마을벽화로 본 지역문화정책 비판적 고찰 (A Critical Study of Local Cultural Policy by Village Mural)

  • 본 연구는 마을벽화를 통하여 정부와 지자체의 지역문화정책을 비판적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 1990년대 말부터 그려지기 시작한 마을벽화는 지난 십수 년 동안 전국적인 문화현상이 되어왔다. 특히 정부와 지자체가 시행하는 다양한 지역문화 정책의 중요 요소로 꾸준히 활용되었다. 정부와 지자체는 '주거환경 개선'과 '관광 활성화'라는 두 개의 목적으로 이 사업을 전개하여 왔으나 대체로 '관광 활성화'에 치중되었다. 본 연구는 사례연구 방법의 하나인 현장조사를 통하여 전국의 주요 마을벽화의 구체적인 실태를 파악하였다. 또한 공문서 분석을 통하여 마을벽화 사업에 작동하는 정부와 지자체의 정책적 근거와 행정적 관리 방안을 분석하였다. 현장조사 결과 전국 대부분의 마을벽화는 획일화된 소재, 낮은 수준의 재현, 부실한 사후관리 등의 문제를 갖고 있었다. 이는 부분적으로 마을벽화 사업에 참여한 단체나 예술가의 경험이나 능력에 따른 것이지만 근본적으로는 장기적인 주거환경 개선보다는 단기적인 시각적 관광물에 치중한 정부와 지자체의 사업에 기인한 것이라고 하겠다. 정부와 지자체의 사업은 수직계열화에 의하여 전개되었으며 실제 작업에 있어서 구체적인 주제와 소재, 도안과 색채 등을 요구하는 등의 문제가 있음을 확인하였다. 이로 인하여 마을벽화는 해당 주민을 '대상화'하고 해당 지역을 '낭만화'하였으며 그 결과 획일화된 시각 재현물이 전면화되었다. 이에 본 연구는 행정과 회계는 엄격히 관리하되 실제 작업에서는 각종 문서와 절차의 간소화하여 수직계열화 구조를 완화하고 아울러 대상지에 대한 풍부한 문화적 이해, 다양한 주제의 선택, 독창적인 소재와 표현 등이 필요하다고 제언하고자 한다.
