  • Many studies have investigated the smart grid architecture and communication models in the past few years. However, the communication model and architecture for a smart grid still remain unclear. Today's electric power distribution is very complex and maladapted because of the lack of efficient and cost-effective energy generation, distribution, and consumption management systems. A wireless smart grid communication system can play an important role in achieving these goals. In this paper, we describe a smart grid communication architecture in which we merge customers and distributors into a single domain. In the proposed architecture, all the home area networks, neighborhood area networks, and local electrical equipment form a local wireless mesh network (LWMN). Each device or meter can act as a source, router, or relay. The data generated in any node (device/meter) reaches the data collector via other nodes. The data collector transmits this data via the access point of a wide area network (WAN). Finally, data is transferred to the service provider or to the control center of the smart grid. We propose a wireless cooperative communication model for the LWMN.We deploy a limited number of smart relays to improve the performance of the network. A novel relay selection mechanism is also proposed to reduce the relay selection overhead. Simulation results show that our cooperative smart grid (coopSG) communication model improves the end-to-end packet delivery latency, throughput, and energy efficiency over both the Wang et al. and Niyato et al. models.

  • The paradigm of information & communication is rapidly changed into ubiquitous environment based electromagnetic wave, and antenna technology in the wireless ubiquitous communication is remarkably developed. Mini chip antenna has its within small card compared to the external AP antenna. Designed and Fabricated WLAN antenna has a broadband characteristics of 2.4~2.5GHz and 4.9~5.85GHz, and can be used triple mode of IEEE 802.11.a,g.b, and it has comparatively a constant performance in the dual frequency band.

  • Nowdays ITS is being installed in each local autonomous entity, and BIS installation and operation is prior to other ITS sub systems for the public service. The methods of positioning md wireless communication in BIS are DSRC+DSRC, GPS+wireless communication, Beacon+Beacon, which are chosen and operated as the local features. Before this study, the before and after survey of BIS' quality have only been done without performance evaluation of BIS. So the method of BIS' evaluation have been established including performance test in this paper. And the evaluation of some BIS' reliability and efficiency have been done using the reliability of arriving data and the wireless communication response rates after choosing typical BIS' sub system.

  • Cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) with decision fusion is considered as a key technology for tackling the challenges caused by fading/shadowing effects and noise uncertainty in spectrum sensing in cognitive radio. However, most existing solutions assume an error-free decision transmission, which is obviously not the case in realistic scenarios. This paper extends the general decision-fusion-based CSS scheme by considering the fading/shadowing effects and noise corruption in the common control channels. With this more practical model, the fusion centre first estimates the local decisions using a binary minimum error probability detector, and then combines them to get the final result. Theoretical analysis and simulation of this CSS scheme are performed over typical channels, which suggest some performance deterioration compared with the pure case that assumes an error-free decision transmission. Furthermore, the fusion strategy optimization in the proposed cooperation model is also investigated using the Bayesian criteria. The numerical results show that the total error rate of noisy CSS is higher than that of the pure case, and the optimal values of fusion parameter in the counting rule under both cases decrease as the local detection threshold increases.

  • This paper presents a teleoperation system that combines computer network and an autonomous mobile robot. We control remotely an autonomous mobile robot with vision over the Internet to guide it under unknown environments in the real time. The main feature of this system is that local operators need a web browser and a computer connected to the communication network and so they can command the robot in a remote location through the home page. The hardware architecture of this system consists of an autonomous mobile robot, workstation, and local computers. The software architecture of this system includes the client part for the user interface and robot control as well as the server part for communication between users and robot. The server and client systems are developed using Java language which is suitable to internet application and supports multi-platform. Furthermore. this system offers an image compression method using JPEG concept which reduces large time delay that occurs in network during image transmission.

  • The continuing development of the sensors for the measurement of the safety of structures has been making a turning point in measuring and evaluating the larger civil structural system as well. However, there are still remaining problems to be solved for the extremely large structure because the natural damages of those structures are not so simple to be monitored for the reason of their locational and structural conditions. One of the most significant problems is that a number of cables which connect the measuring system to the analyzer are liable to distort actual data. This paper presents a new monitoring system for large structures by means of a local wireless communication technique which would eliminate the possibility of the distortion of data by noise in cables. This new monitoring system employs the wireless system and the software for data communication, along with the strain sensor and accelerometers which have been already used in the past. It makes it possible for the data, which have been chosen by the central controling system from the various sensors placed in the large civil structures, to be wirelessly delivered and then analyzed and evaluated by decision making system of the structures.

  • I did research or design technology of(integration) network of PSTN and PSDN in this paper. Network structure model in association with soft switching and access gateway can create various services based on web and live time and service fee at the rate of bandwidth which can't be provided by existing network based on SONET. Also, interns of capability(function) of each area and construction of local network subscribers, it has great recovery capability by separating each network as local areas. It indicates that it can additionally maximize the application of its own communication network and drastic reduction of communication cost because it is alternated to exclusive usage cost.

  • This study attempted to do a research on whether local festivals contributed to local economic vitalization in an empirical aspect focusing on Almedalen's case of Sweden has not been discussed in Korea. For this, by analyzing Gotland's sociocultural and economic aspects into 3 steps and evaluating them, the study tried to derive policy implications for benchmarking Almedalen in Korea in the future. As a result of analyzing the economic effect of Almedalen in Sweden into 3 steps, it was shown that in the analysis of resources in Step 1, Almedalen positively affected tourist allurement based on Gotland's beautiful natural landscape. In the evaluation of operation in Step 2, according to the result of examining an increase in population and stabilization with a valuation index related to the activation of local economy, Gotland was steadily seeing a new inflow of population, due to which it can be confirmed that local income increases as various jobs are being created. Finally, as a result of examining the improvement in local image in Step 3, it was shown that as diverse members from all walks of life participated in Gotland's festival, external communication became flexible and the opportunity of social participation increased, which positively affected local image. Based on the study results, the policy implications for benchmarking Almedalen, Sweden's local festival, are as follows: First, selecting an appropriate place for attracting the participation of various people is needed. Second, local festivals should be places for communication to exchange opinions, not specific institute-oriented unilateral provision of information. Third, while advancing local festivals for nonprofit, the efforts to make positive changes in local image are needed.
