The stimulatory effect of recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on wound healing was evaluated in healing-impaired animal models. Full-thickness wounds were made in prednisolone-treated mice, streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats and mitomycin C (MMC)-treated rats. Saline or bFGF at a dose of 1, 5, or $25\mu\textrm{g}$ per wound was applied to the open wound once a day for three to five days. The degree of wound healing was assessed using wound size and histological parameters such as degree of epidermal and dermal regeneration. Local application of bFGF accelerated wound closure significantly in a dose-dependent manner in all healing-impaired wounds (p<0.05). The wound healing effect of bFGF was further confirmed by histological examination in MMC-treated rats. Epidermal and dermal regeneration were enhanced in bFGF-treated wounds with a dose-related response. Dermal regeneration parameters such as collagen matrix formation and angiogenesis were significantly increased in $5\mu\textrm{g}$, or $\25mu\textrm{g}$ of bFGF-treated wounds when compared to saline-treated wounds (p<0.05). pectin immunostaining on day 8 for vascular endothelium showed an increased number of neovessels in bFGF-treated wounds. These results suggest that topical application of bFGF has beneficial effects on wound healing by angiogenesis and granulation tissue formation in healing-impaired wounds.
We have studied local magnetization reversal and magnetic properties induced by Laser annealing method in the strip-patterned Ta/NiFe/FeMn/Ta and Ta/NiFe/FeMn/NiFe/Ta multilayers fabricated by ion-beam deposition. The films were exposed to the emission of the DPSS (Diode Pumped Solid State, Nd:YAG) laser under 600 G. The laser beam intensity increased up to 440 mW. When the laser illuminated the patterned film with the power of above 200 m W, the intensity of MR peak located in +87 Oe shrunk. A new MR peak was generated at -63 Oe. When the laser power is 400 mW, the location of positive MR peak(H$\sub$ex/) was changed slightly from +87 Oe to +76 Oe, and the MR ratio was decreased from 0.9% to 0.1 %. On the other hand, the new (negative) MR peak shifted from -63 Oe to -80 Oe, with the MR ratio increased up to 0.3%. As the illuminated area expanded, the intensity of opposite MR peak increased and it of negative MR peak decreased. This proved that the local reversal of exchange biasing should be realized by laser annealing.

'Superjami', a new blackish purple pigmented rice cultivar was derived from a cross between 'CG2-3-5-1-6-1' (developed from a cross between 'Heugjinjubyeo' and 'Suweon 425') as high amount of C3G (Cyanidin 3-glucoside) and 'Daeribbyeo 1' with large seed size in 2003, and selected by pedigree breeding method until $F_7$ generation. As a result, a promising line, 'SR28721-7-9-3-1-2-1', was developed and designated as the name of 'KNOU 5' in 2008. This variety has about 125 days to heading after sowing and has 74.9 cm culm height. The ratio of fertility of 'Superjami' was about 89.6% and 1,000-grain weight was about 26.2 g. It was 1.5 times heavier than 'Heugjinjubyeo'. 'Superjami' has 10 times higher C3G content compared with 'Heugjinjubyeo'. The yield potential of 'Superjami' in brown rice was about 6.3 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level in local adaptability test.
This study focused on manufacturing an inorganic insulation material set with various amounts of calcium-sulfoaluminate (CSA) (hauyne) content for enhancing both workability (demolding, handling) and the high thermal insulating property. To carry out the experiment, the amounts of CSA utilized were 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, with anhydrous gypsum added in equal proportion to produce a stable formation. As the content of CSA increased, a sinking phenomenon occurred because of the hydration reaction from the slurry, so it was difficult to utilize a retarder normally used in the cement manufacturing process. However, an RCOOM surfactant was able to solve the local clumping problem from cement and CSA and obtain a rapid retarding effect, so it was included in this process at 0.3%. Furthermore, the cement fineness was not 7000 ㎠/g but rather 3300 ~ 4000 ㎠/g to prevent a rapid temperature increase in the slurry. The specific gravity of the sample manufactured with 20% CSA was approximately 0.11 g/㎤, and its thermal conductivity was 0.041 W/m·K, providing an excellent insulating property.
Recently, V2X (vehicle-to-everyting) communication has established itself as an essential technology for cooperative autonomous driving. V2X communication currently includes DSRC (dedicated short range communication) communication technology, which is a WLAN (wireless local area network) based communication technology, and C-V2X (cellular-V2X) communication technology, which is a Cellular-based communication technology. Since these two communication methods are not compatible with each other, various studies and experiments are being conducted to select one of the two communication methods. In the case of C-V2X communication, there are LTE-V2X (long term evolutionV2X) communication technology, which is an initial version, and 5G-V2X communication technology, which is a next-generation version. 5G-V2X communication technology has been completed only until standardization, so LTE-V2X communication technology is mainly used. In this paper, we introduce trends related to various issues in V2X communication, including communication method decisions.
In this study, our purpose is to develop a technique to discriminate artificial explosions from local microearthquakes on the basis of time-frequency domain. To obtain spectral features of artificial explosions and microearthquakes, we used 3-d spectrograms(frequency, time and amplitude) because this is a useful tool to study the frequency content of entire seismic waveforms observed at local and regional distances (e. g., Kim et al., 1994). P and S waves from quarry blasts show that frequency content of dominant amplitude appeared above 10 Hz and Rg phases that are observed at near distance ranges. But P and S waves from microearthquakes have more broad frequency content as well as below 10 Hz. And for discrimination, Pg/Lg spectral ratio is performed below 10 Hz. In order to select time windows we computed group velocity using multiple filter method(MFM) and removed free surface effects from all 3-components data for improving on data quality. Next step, we computed Fast-Fourier transform, and a log average spectral amplitude over seven frequency bands : 0.5 to 3, 2 to 4, 3 to 5, 4 to 6, 5 to 7, 6 to 8 and 8 to 10 Hz. The best separation is observed from 6 to 8 Hz.

This study examined and investigated architectural characteristics such as the use of buildings, the number of layers, and structure, and roof landscape characteristics such as roof types, materials, and color in rural villages which were located on the street on the assumption that the landscape of rural villages should be managed by considering visual aspects. The results were as follows. The commonest frequency was found in 'residence'(2/3) for the use of buildings and 'masonry structure'(2/3) for the structure. 'Wood structure' and 'light gauge steel structure(prefabricated structure)' were also commonly found. The results suggest that although many rural houses have partially improved by agricultural and fishery development projects and garden suburbs has been increased by city residents' desire for rural life, there have been still many old houses. Frequently used roof types were a gambrel roof and a hipped roof. Roof materials were mixed in several materials such as tiles, slate, panels, color steel plate, reinforced concrete, and asphalt shingles. Roof color was also mixed in several colors such as reddish N7 and N0.5 of Neutral color, 10R3/6 and 10R3/10 of R color, 7.5B4/10 and 7.5B7/8 of B color and 5G8/6 of G color. The result suggests that roof color impedes the landscape of rural villages on the street. Based on the results, some roofs of rural villages were improved by the support of the government or the local governments but there are still many old roofs. The mixture of improved roofs and old roofs mainly contributed to impeding the landscape of rural villages and it was probably caused by the lack of systematic landscape plans by individual improvement of buildings. Therefore, it is necessary to devise systematic landscape plans in consideration of local identity and neighboring environment. In particular, the guideline for roof color influencing a street landscape should be established.
Using the MODerate resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer (MODIS) retrieved aerosol optical thickness (AOT) along with ground measurements of PM2.5 mass concentration, we assessed local air quality over Dukjuk and Jeju island and estimated possibility of satellite derived PM2.5 during nine intensive observation periods in 15 October 2005 - 24 October 2007. Averaged PM2.5 mass concentrations showed relatively variable as $25.61{\pm}22.92{\mu}g/m^3$ at Dukjuk and $17.33{\pm}10.79{\mu}g/m^3$ at Jeju. The maximum values of $188.89{\mu}g/m^3$ (Dukjuk) and $50.46{\mu}g/m^3$ (Jeju) were recorded during Asian dust storm day. Similarly, the maximum values of MODIS AOT were found as 3.73 (Gosan) and 1.14 (Jeju). Averaged MODIS AOTs at Dukjuk ($0.79{\pm}0.81$) were larger than that at Jeju ($0.42{\pm}0.24$). An empirical relationship between MODIS AOT and PM2.5 mass was obtained and results show that there was a good correlation between satellite and ground based values with a linear correlation coefficient of 0.85 at Dukjuk. The result clearly demonstrates that satellite derived AOT is a good surrogate for monitoring PM air quality over study area. However, meteorological and other ancillary datasets are necessary to further apply satellite data for air quality research.
The conformational study of glycerol has been carried out using the M06-2X/cc-pVTZ level of theory in the gas phase and the SMD M06-2X/cc-pVTZ level of theory in water in order to understand its conformational preferences and solvation effects. Most of the preferred conformers of glycerol have two $C_5$ hydrogen bonds in the gas phase, as found by the analysis of calorimetric data. It has been known that the solvation drove the hydrogen bonds of glycerol to be weaker and its potential surface to be fatter and that glycerol exists as an ensemble of many feasible local minima in water. The calculated populations of glycerol in the gas phase and in water are consistent with the observed values, which are better than the previously calculated ones at the G2(MP2), CBS-QB3, and SM5.42 HF/6-31G(d) levels of theory.

This paper proposes a method for improving a branch predictor for the extendable instruction set computer (EISC) processor. The original EISC branch predictor has several shortcomings: a small branch target buffer, absence of a global history, a one-bit local branch history, and unsupported prediction of branches following LERI, which is a special instruction to extend an immediate value. We adopt a G-share branch predictor and eliminate the existing shortcomings. We verified the new branch predictor on a field-programmable gate array with the Dhrystone benchmark. The newly proposed EISC branch predictor also accomplishes higher branch prediction accuracy than a conventional branch predictor.
