A pile is compressed with settlements when loading and bearing capacity is altered along relative displacement of pile/soil on settlement and compression. Settlements of pile displaying limit skin friction is different from displaying tip resistance. Therefore, it is an error in traditional method that bearing capacity of pile is estimated from the sum of limit skin fraction and tip resistance. Accordingly, development of design method considering behavior of load-settlement is needed. In this study, we would like to establish the base for development of design method considering bearing capacity altering along displacement on settlement and compression. For this, we established system and substance of design method. And in order to establish relationship of load-settlement of pile on the type of soil, we analyzed and arranged existing database and pile loading test. On design method, settlement is assumed gradually on each capacity level being assumed gradually. Bearing capacity developing on the pile is obtained on each settlement level. Until the obtained bearing capacity will be equal to assumed capacity, this process is continued with increasing settlement. Load-settlement curve for soil classification is sketched in the process computing settlement on assumed capacity. This design method will be materialized by computation program.

Piles are structural elements made of steel, concrete or timber, and utilize as pile foundation which is one of deep foundations. Driven pile among them, which drives pile into the ground, is fast-constructable, less expensive and it supplies much bearing capacity. For these reasons, its demand is steady. In this study, by selecting the cases which reached ultimate failure during in-situ static loading tests, bearing capacities acquired from these tests were compared with those computed by existing theories and formula. As the results of the analysis, ultimate bearing capacity computed by theoretic formula were less or similar to those of test results in most cases, but lower ground water level and more dense layer where end of piles were reached remarkably high bearing capacity in theoretical methods. ${\beta}-method$ and Korean structure foundation design standard were sensitive to ground physical properties. Meyerhof metbod and API code were relatively independent from site condition.
Post-tensioned precast segmental bridge columns have shown high level of strength and ductility, and low residual displacement, which makes them suffer minor damage after earthquake loading; however, there is still lack of confidence on their lateral response against severe seismic loading due in part to their low energy dissipation capacity. This study investigates the influence of major design factors such as post-tensioning force level, strands position, columns aspect ratio, steel jacket and mild steel ratio on seismic performance of self-centring segmental bridge columns in terms of lateral strength, residual displacement and lateral peak displacement. Seismic analyses show that increasing the continuous mild steel ratio improves the lateral peak displacement of the self-centring columns at different levels of post-tensioning (PT) forces. Such an increase in steel ratio reduces the residual drift in segmental columns with higher aspect ratio more considerably. Suggestions are proposed for the design of self-centring segmental columns with various aspect ratios at different target drifts.

Steel plate concrete (SC) composite structure is now being recognized as a promising technology applicable to nuclear power plants as it is faster and suitable for modular construction. It is required to identify its dynamic characteristics prior to perform the seismic design of the SC structure. Particularly, the damping ratio of the structure is one of the critical design factors to control the dynamic response of structure. This paper compares the criteria for the damping ratios of each type of structures which are prescribed in the regulatory guide for the nuclear power plant. In order to identify the damping ratio of SC shear wall, this study made SC wall specimens and conducted experiments by cyclic lateral load tests and vibration tests with impact hammer. During the lateral loading test, SC wall specimens exhibited large ductile capacities with increasing amplitude of loading due to the confinement effects by the steel plate and the damping ratios increased until failure. The experimental results show that the damping ratios increased from about 6% to about 20% by increasing the load from the safe shutdown earthquake level to the ultimate strength level.

Topside areas on an offshore oil and gas platform are highly susceptible to explosion. A blast wall on these areas plays an important role in preventing explosion damage and must withstand the expected explosion loads. The uniformly distributed loading condition, predicted by Explosion Risk Analyses (ERAs), has been applied in most of the previous analysis methods. However, analysis methods related to load conditions are inaccurate because the blast overpressure around the wall tends to be of low-level in the open area and high-level in the enclosed area. The main objectives of this paper are to study the effects of applying different load applications and compare the dynamic responses of the blast wall. To do so, various kinds of blast pressures were measured by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations on the target area. Nonlinear finite element analyses of the blast wall under two types of identified dynamic loadings were also conducted.
The research purpose of this paper is to investigate the influential Parameters on the unbonded tendon stress. The parameters were the reinforcing ratio, the prestressing ratio, and the loading type. To this end. first, the influence of parameters were examined with twenty eight test results obtained from references. Then, an experimental study was carried out with nine specimens. Test variables were the reinforcing ratio and the prestressing ratio. Specimens were divided equally into three groups and each group had a different level of the reinforcing ratio. Each specimen within a group has a different level of the prestressing ratio. The investigation with previous and current tests revealed the followings; (1) the length of crack distribution zone does not have a close relation with the length of plastic hinge. (2) the prestressing ratio does not affect both the length of crack distribution and the length of plastic hinge, (3) the tendon stress variation is in reverse relation with the ratios of mild steels and tendons, (4) the loading type nay not affect significantly the length of crack distribution zone, (5) AASHTO LRFD Code equation and Moon/Lim's design equation predicted the test results well with some safety margins.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress distribution in mandibular second premolars restored with different post and core techniques. Sixteen two-dimensional finite element model of mandibular second premolars restored with post and core and complete crown were developed according to the diameter, length, and material of post and core. Vertical force, 10N in magnitude, was applied first to the central fossa and then $45^{\circ}$ oblique force of same magnitude was applied to the buccal contact surface of buccal cusp. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Stress distribution within the dentin 1) Regardless of the material of the post and core and the diameter and length of the post, the pattern of stress distribution within the dentin was similar. 2) Maximum dentinal stress was observed on the lingual root surface of alveolar crest level with oblique loading and on lingual side of root dentin at the crown margin on vertical loading. 3) Cast post and cores produced the lowest dentinal stress concentrations and the highest stress concentration was observed in composite resin post and cores. 2. Stress distribution within the post and core 1) Within the amalgam and composite resin post and core, the patterns and maximum values of stress were similar. Maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion on vertical loading and at the lingual junction of post and core with oblique loading. 2) Among the all post and cores, the cast post and core registered the highest stress concentration and maximum stress value within the post. Maximum stress located at the post apex on vertical loading and at lingual half of the post surface with oblique loading. 3) In case of Para-post and amalgam core, maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion and lingual tip of the post head on vertical loading. With oblique loading, maximum stress located at the lingual half of the post surface.

A diesel particulate filter causes progressive increase in back pressure of an exhaust system due to the loading of soot particles. To maintain the pressure drop caused by DPF under proper level, a regeneration process is mandatory when excessive loading of soot is detected in the filter. It is a major reason why the relation between the amount of soot and the pressure drop in a DPF becomes crucial. On the other hand, pressure drop varies with not only the soot loading but also conditions of exhaust gas such as mass flow rate. Therefore, the relation among them becomes complicated. Furthermore, the characteristics of heat transfer in a DPF is another crucial parameter in order for the filter to avoid thermal crack during regeneration period. This study presents characteristics of pressure drop under various conditions of soot loading and mass flow rate in catalyzed diesel particulate filter. This study also shows characteristics of heat transfer in DPF when high temperature gas flows into the filter. Experiments reveal that the soot loading and mass flow rate affect characteristics pressure drop independently. Experiments also indicate that the amount of coating material has little influence on pressure drop with changes in soot loading and mass flow rate. However, increased catalyst coating may lead to the improved heat transfer which is efficiency to reduce thermal stress of the filter.

This paper have calculated a relative heights of an each station using the data which were observed by GPS permanent stations(Chejudo, Homigoj, Jumunjin, Marado, Palmido, Ulengdo, Youndo) established in Korea. We performed spectrum analysis with a calculated relative heights by CLEAN algorithm. Through these process, we estimated vertical displacement of earth surface by semi-dinural ocean tidal loading components, and compared them with the results which were calculated by improving ocean tide model(NA099jb) for adjacent seas around Japan and Korea. As the result of this study, we determined the ocean tidal loading components with loading effects of $M_2$ and $N_2$, and we noted that the amplitude and the phase lags of ocean tidal loading components from observed GPS data were almost equal to values calculated from ocean tide models. However, the loading components about semi-diurnal tide $S_2$, $K_2$ couldn't estimate because of periods. Also, the diurnal ocean tide loading components were not considered, because the noise level have increased during the diurnal frequency.

Recently, consumers who prefer contactless consumption are increasing due to pandemic trends such as Corona 19. This is the driving force for developing the last mile-based logistics ecosystem centered on the online e-commerce market. Lastmile led to the continued development of the logistics industry, but increased the amount of cargo in urban area, and caused social problems such as overcrowding of logistics. The courier service in the logistics base area utilizes the process of visiting the delivery site directly because the courier must precede the loading work of the cargo in the truck for the delivery of the ordered product. Currently, it's carried out as automated logistics equipment such as conveyor belt in unloading or classification stage, but the automation system isn't applied, so the work efficiency is decreasing and the intensity of the courier worker's labor is increased. In particular, small-scale courier workers belonging to the sub-terminal unload at night at underdeveloped facilities outside the city center. Therefore, the productivity of the work is lowered and the risk of safety accidents is exposed, so robot-based loading technology is needed. In this paper, we have derived the top-level concept and requirements of robot-based loading system to increase the flexibility of logistics processing and to ensure the safety of courier drivers. We defined algorithms and motion concepts to increase the cargo loading efficiency of logistics sub-terminals through the requirements of end effector technology, which is important among concepts. Finally, the control technique was proposed to determine and position the load for design input development of the automatic conveyor system.
