  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm to estimate the maximum load level for heavily loaded power systems with the load-generation variation vector obtained by ELD (Economic Load Dispatch) and/or short term load forecasting while utilizing the elliptic pattern of the P-e curve. It is well known the power flow equation in the rectangular coordinate is fully quadratic. However, the coupling between e and f makes it difficult to take advantage of this quadratic characteristic. In this paper, a simple technique is proposed to reflect the e-f coupling effects on the estimation of maximum loadability with theoretical analysis. An efficient estimation algorithm has been developed with the use of the elliptic properties of the P-e curve. The proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE 14 bus system, New England 39 bus system and IEEE 118 bus system, which shows that the maximum load level can be efficiently estimated with remarkable improvement in accuracy.

Wind-induced dynamic response and its load estimation for structural frames of single-layer latticed domes with long spans

  • The main purpose of this study is to discuss the design wind loads for the structural frames of single-layer latticed domes with long spans. First, wind pressures are measured simultaneously at many points on dome models in a wind tunnel. Then, the dynamic response of several models is analyzed in the time domain, using the pressure data obtained from the wind tunnel experiment. The nodal displacements and the resultant member stresses are computed at each time step. The results indicate that the dome's dynamic response is generally dominated by such vibration modes that contribute to the static response significantly. Furthermore, the dynamic response is found to be almost quasi-static. Then, a series of quasi-static analyses, in which the inertia and damping terms are neglected, is made for a wide range of the dome's geometry. Based on the results, a discussion is made of the design wind load. It is found that a gust effect factor approach can be used for the load estimation. Finally, an empirical formula for the gust effect factor and a simple model of the pressure coefficient distribution are provided.

  • 전력 시스템의 환경이 변화함에 따라 새로운 전기 에너지 시장에 대한 수요와 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 특히 수요반응 프로그램을 활용하여 전력 사용 효율을 높이기 위한 노력은 선진국에서 지속적으로 연구되고 있으며 실제 시장으로 운영되고 있다. 본 논문은 수요반응, 마이크로그리드 간 거래, P2P 전력 거래 등 새로운 전력 시장에서 요구되는 기준부하 추정 방법에 대한 연구를 담고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기준부하추정 방법은 마이크로그리드 수요자원에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 기준부하추정 알고리즘을 선택하게 하였으며, 실제 데이터를 활용하여 제안된 방법의 실효성을 입증하였다.

등가변형을 이용한 테이터 말뚝의 지지력 산정 (Estimation of Axial toad Capacity for Tapered Piles Using Equivalent Transformation)

  • 본 연구에서는 등가변형을 이용하며 테이퍼 말뚝의 지지력을 산정하는 방법을 제안하였다. 지반조건과 테이퍼각도를 고려하여 지지력을 산정하던 기존의 방법과 달리, 테이퍼말뚝의 지지력산정시 콘관입시험 결과를 활용하도록 하였다. 이때 테이퍼말뚝은 등가변형을 이용하여 형태를 단순화 시켰으며 이를 통해 실무에서 비교적 쉽게 지지력을 산정 할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법의 검증을 위해 실내시험과 현장시험을 실시하였다. 실내모형시험 결과로부터 측정된 극한지지력과 본 연구에서 제안된 방법에 의한 예측값을 비교한 결과 표준편차는 $0.05{\sim}0.121$, COV는 $0.04{\sim}0.05$의 값을 보여 대체적으로 유사한 결과를 보였으며, 현장시험은 약 2.5%의 오차를 보여 측정값에 근접함을 알 수 있었다. 그 결과 제안된 지지력 산정법은 테이퍼말뚝의 지지력을 비교적 정확하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • For testing a newly designed ship's steering gear, a steering gear test bench with a steering gear to be tested and a load generation part should be prepared. The load given to the steering gear has to be pertinent to the load generated in a targeted ship. In this study, the authors suggest a process of estimating the load given to steering gears in ships. At first, a test for measuring the load in the steering gear of a real ship was conducted. Then, a process was developed to compute rudder driving torque and force by using basic equations including some empirical equations on ship's steering. The test results and the computation results on the load in the steering gear were compared, As a result, the process suggested in this study for estimating load in ship's steering gears was verified.

  • So far, the importance for an accurate load model has been constantly raised and its necessity would be further more emphasized. Currently used load model for analysis of power system in Korea was developed 10 years ago, which is aggregated by applying the statistically estimated load compositions to load models based on individual appliances. As modern appliances have diversified and rapidly changed, the existing load model is no longer compatible with current loads in the Korean power system. Therefore, a measurement based load model is more suitable for modern power system analysis because it can accurately include the load characteristics by directly measuring target load. This paper proposes a ZIP model employing a Kalman-filter as the estimation algorithm for the model parameters. The Kamlan-filter based parameter identification offers an advantage of fast parameter determination by removing iterative calculation. To verify the proposed load model, the four-second-interval real data from the Korea Energy Management System (K-EMS) is used.

  • In general, Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems (AS/RS ) have racks of equal sized cells to utilize the concept of unit-load. Most of the techniques for the performance estimation of a unit-load AS/RS are a static model or computer simulation. Especially, their models were developed under assumption that the Storage/Retrieval (S/R) machine performs only single command (SC) or dual command (DC). In reality, defending on the operating policy and the status of the system at a particular time, the S/B machine performs a SC or a DC, or becomes .: idle. In order to resolve these weak points, we propose a stochastic model for the performance estimation of unit-load AS/RS by using a single-server queueing model.   • A nonlinear engine torque and speed control algorithm using throttle angle control is developed with an engine load torque estimation algorithm. Three 3-dimensional nonlinear engine maps as a part of the nonlinear control algorithm are obtained from steady state engine dynamometer tests. An electric throttle actuator is developed using a stepper motor and a 8 bit micro-processor. The speed control and external load estimation algorithm are tested via engine speed control experiments, and show performance good enough for using various engine torque and speed control applications.

  • The torque is an important measure that represents the performance of a particular engine. Furthermore the information of engine torque can be used as a primary feedback parameter in modem engine management system. In this paper, a methodology is proposed for torque estimation of SI-engine. Since the proposed method uses cylinder pressure sensor, the torque can be estimated in a simple manner. The indicated torque is estimated from the peak pressure and its location, and the load torque is observed by the state observer based on the estimated indicated torque. The proposed method is accurate and robust against the variations that affect the torque production such as spark timing, mass air flow and others. This torque estimation method may be an alternative solution to the use of engine torque maps in a modem torque-based engine management system.
