GPU를 이용한 대량 삼각형 교차 알고리즘 (Robust GPU-based intersection algorithm for a large triangle set)

  • 삼각형간의 교차 계산은 많은 3 차원 기하 문제들을 해결하는데 있어서 기본적으로 요구되는 연산 과정이다. 본 논문에서는 대량의 삼각형 집합 안에서의 교차 계산을 효율적이며 강인하게 처리할 수 있는 GPU 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 알고리즘은 k-d 트리의 구성, 삼각형쌍 생성, 정확한 교차 계산을 모두 GPU에서 처리한다. 여기서 사용되는 k-d 트리에서는 분할 과정 중에 삼각형들의 복사가 많이 발생한다. 이렇게 복사된 삼각형들로 인하여 중복된 삼각형쌍들이 많이 생성되는데, 이러한 중복 삼각형쌍들을 효율적으로 제거하기 위하여 분할 인덱스를 도입하였다. 분할 인덱스는 간단한 논리곱 연산만으로 중복 여부를 효과적으로 판단할 수 있다. 수치적 강인성을 높이기 위하여는 부동소숫점 필터링을 통해 불안전한 삼각형쌍들을 분리하고, CLP(controlled linear perturbation)를 이용하여 CPU쓰레드에서 처리하도록 하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 기존의 민코스키합 알고리즘의 합삼각형 교차계산에 적용하여 효율성과 강인성을 입증하였다.

  • Cole-Cole 모델에 대한 주파수영역 유도분극 반응은 닫힌 형태의 간단한 수식으로 정의된다. 그러나 시간영역 유도분극 반응은 닫힌 형태로 표현되지 않아 Cole-Cole 모델이나 다른 완화모델에 대한 반응을 계산하는 것은 쉽지 않다. 이 논문에서는 Cole-Cole 모델에 대한 시간영역 유도분극 반응을 계산하는 세 가지 방법, 즉 급수 전개법, 선형 필터링법 및 푸리에 변환법을 비교 분석하였다. 수치 실험 결과 급수 전개법은 안정적인 결과를 제시하지 못할 뿐 아니라 수렴 속도가 느리다는 문제점이 있다. 선형 필터링법은 후기 시간에서 만족할 만한 정밀도를 보이지 못 하였다. 푸리에 변환법은 계산시간이 더 많이 걸린다는 단점이 있으나 다른 방법에 비하여 보다 안정적인 것으로 확인되었다.

EMD-based output-only identification of mode shapes of linear structures

  • The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) consists of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert spectral analysis. EMD has been successfully applied for identification of mode shapes of structures based on input-output approaches. This paper aims to extend application of EMD for output-only identification of mode shapes of linear structures. In this regard, a new simple and efficient method based on band-pass filtering and EMD is proposed. Having rather accurate estimates of modal frequencies from measured responses, the proposed method is capable to extract the corresponding mode shapes. In order to evaluate the accuracy and performance of the proposed identification method, two case studies are considered. In the first case, the performance of the method is validated through the analysis of simulated responses obtained from an analytical structural model with known dynamical properties. The low-amplitude responses recorded from the UCLA Factor Building during the 2004 Parkfield earthquake are used in the second case to identify the first three mode shapes of the building in three different directions. The results demonstrate the remarkable ability of the proposed method in correct estimation of mode shapes of the linear structures based on rather accurate modal frequencies.

  • Integrity of the control and instrumental cables in nuclear power plant is important to maintain the stability of the nuclear power plants. In order to diagnose the integrity of the cables, the diagnostic methods based on reflectometry have been studied. The reflectometry is a non-destructive method and it is applicable to diagnose the live cables. We introduce a Gaussian enveloped linear chirp reflectometry to diagnose the cables in the nuclear power plants. In this paper, we estimate the instantaneous frequency of the Gaussian enveloped linear chirp signal by using the weighted robust least squares filtering to localize the impedance discontinuities in the class 1E instrumental cable.

선형 회귀곡선 추적을 이용한 고전 필름의 흑,백 라인 스크래치 검출과 제거 알고리즘 (Detection and Remove Algorithm of B/W Line Scratch on Old Film by Linear Recursive Curve Trace)

  • 고화질의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 수요 증가에 따라서 고전영화의 복원이 필요하다. 그러나 고전영화의 필름은 라인 스크래치와 먼지에 의해서 영상이 많이 훼손되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 필름상의 흑, 백 라인 스크래치를 검출하여 복원하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 라인 스크래치 좌우 영역의 밝기 값을 고려하여 선형회귀 곡선 추적과 미디언 필터링으로 라인 스크래치 부분의 손상된 부분정보를 추정, 보간한다. 그 결과 흑, 백 라인 스크래치가 있는 PSNR 44.68인 필름영상을 48.60으로 향상시켰으며, 보간된 픽셀은 원 영상 픽셀에 14정도의 밝기 차로 접근되었다.

  • Hankel변환적분의 계산에 사용되는 $J_0$$J_1$ 디지탈 선형필터의 성능을 adaptive 필터를 사용함으로써 비교 하였다. $J_0$ 영역의 어떠한 Hankel 변환적분도 수학적으로 이에 대응하는 $J_1$ 영역으로 바꿀 수 있으며, 비저항 탐사에서 이용되는 모든 전극배치에 대한 겉보기비저항은 $J_1$ 필터만으로 계산이 가능하다. 보통 $J_1$ 필터는 이와 대응하는 $J_0$필터에 비하여 정확성은 비슷하지만, 계산효율은 좀 더 높다. 또한 $J_0$에서 $J_1$영역으로 변환시키면, Schlumberger배치 뿐만 아니라 쌍극자배치 사용시에도 $J_1$함수만을 포함하는 효율적인 겉보기비저항 계산식을 이용할 수 있다.

Evaluation of User Profile Construction Method by Fuzzy Inference

  • To construct user profiles automatically, an extraction method for representative keywords from a set of documents is needed. In our previous works, we suggested such a method and showed its usefulness. Here, we apply it to the classification problem and observe how much it contributes to performance improvement. The method can be used as a linear document classifier with few modifications. So, we first evaluate its performance for that case. The method is also applicable to some non-linear classification methods such as GIS (Generalized Instance Set). In GIS algorithm, generalized instances are built from training documents by a generalization function and then the K-NN algorithm is applied to them, where the method can be used as a generalization function. For comparative works, two famous linear classification methods, Rocchio and Widrow-Hoff algorithms, are also used. Experimental results show that our method is better than the others for the case that only positive documents are considered, but not when negative documents are considered together.

MULTI-SENSOR DATA FUSION FOR FUTURE TELEMATICS APPLICATION

  • In this paper, we present multi-sensor data fusion for telematics application. Successful telematics can be realized through the integration of navigation and spatial information. The well-determined acquisition of vehicle's position plays a vital role in application service. The development of GPS is used to provide the navigation data, but the performance is limited in areas where poor satellite visibility environment exists. Hence, multi-sensor fusion including IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), GPS(Global Positioning System), and DMI (Distance Measurement Indicator) is required to provide the vehicle's position to service provider and driver behind the wheel. The multi-sensor fusion is implemented via algorithm based on Kalman filtering technique. Navigation accuracy can be enhanced using this filtering approach. For the verification of fusion approach, land vehicle test was performed and the results were discussed. Results showed that the horizontal position errors were suppressed around 1 meter level accuracy under simulated non-GPS availability environment. Under normal GPS environment, the horizontal position errors were under 40㎝ in curve trajectory and 27㎝ in linear trajectory, which are definitely depending on vehicular dynamics.

이산 비선형 시스템에 대한 유한 임펄스 응답 고정 시간 지연 평활기 (A Finite Impulse Response Fixed-lag Smoother for Discrete-time Nonlinear Systems)

  • In this paper, a finite impulse response(FIR) fixed-lag smoother is proposed for discrete-time nonlinear systems. If the actual state trajectory is sufficiently close to the nominal state trajectory, the nonlinear system model can be divided into two parts: The error-state model and the nominal model. The error state can be estimated by adapting the optimal time-varying FIR smoother to the error-state model, and the nominal state can be obtained directly from the nominal trajectory model. Moreover, in order to obtain more robust estimates, the linearization errors are considered as a linear function of the estimation errors. Since the proposed estimator has an FIR structure, the proposed smoother can be expected to have better estimation performance than the IIR-structured estimators in terms of robustness and fast convergence. Additionally the proposed method can give a more general solution than the optimal FIR filtering approach, since the optimal FIR smoother is reduced to the optimal FIR filter by setting the fixed-lag size as zero. To illustrate the performance of the proposed method, simulation results are presented by comparing the method with an optimal FIR filtering approach and linearized Kalman filter.

칼만필터를 이용한 부유체운동의 최적제어 (Optimal Control of Dynamic Positioned Vessel Using Kalman Filtering Techniques)

  • A dynamically positioned vessel must be capable of maintaining a specified position and direction by controlling the thruster devices. The motions of a vessel are often assuned to tne sum of low frequency(LF)motions and high frequency(HF)motions. The former is mainly due to wind, current and second order wave forces, while the latter is mainly due to first order wave forces. In order to avoid the high frequency thruser modulation, the control system must include filters to estimate the low frequency motions from the measured motion signals, This paper presents a control system based on Kalman filtering technique and optimal control tyeory. Using the combined kalmam filter, LF motion estimates and HF ones are achieved from the motion measurement of the vessel. The estimated low frequency motions are used as inputs to the dynamic positioning system. The thruster modulation is minimized using the optimal control theory; Linear Quadratic Gaussian(LQG)controller. The performances of the Kalman filter and the dynamic positioned vessel are investigated by computer simulation.
