In this paper, we show that some of 2- or higher-dimensional systems cannot be asymptotically stabilized on the constrained asymptotically stabilizable set via linear feedback.
In this paper, we introduce metrics d, p and ${\mu}$ on a normed almost linear space (X, III.III). And we prove that above three metrics are equivalent if a normed almost linear space X has a basis and splits as X = W$_X$ + V$_X$.
Analyzing patterns in data points embedded in linear and non-linear feature spaces is considered as one of the common research problems among different research areas, for example: data mining, machine learning, pattern recognition, and multivariate analysis. In this paper, data points are heterogeneous sets of biosequences (composite data points). A composite data point is a set of ordinary data points (e.g., set of feature vectors). We theoretically extend the derivation of the largest generalized eigenvalue-based distance metric Dij(γ1) in any linear and non-linear feature spaces. We prove that Dij(γ1) is a metric under any linear and non-linear feature transformation function. We show the sufficiency and efficiency of using the decision rule $\bar{{\delta}}_{{\Xi}i}$(i.e., mean of Dij(γ1)) in classification of heterogeneous sets of biosequences compared with the decision rules min𝚵iand median𝚵i. We analyze the impact of linear and non-linear transformation functions on classifying/clustering collections of heterogeneous sets of biosequences. The impact of the length of a sequence in a heterogeneous sequence-set generated by simulation on the classification and clustering results in linear and non-linear feature spaces is empirically shown in this paper. We propose a new concept: the limiting dispersion map of the existing clusters in heterogeneous sets of biosequences embedded in linear and nonlinear feature spaces, which is based on the limiting distribution of nucleotide compositions estimated from real data sets. Finally, the empirical conclusions and the scientific evidences are deduced from the experiments to support the theoretical side stated in this paper.
This study focused on the changes of residential area around the linear park. The goal of this study is to determine the value of linear park at the view of residents and discover the interaction between the linear park and the residential area around it. To investigate this goal, the researcher chose case sites, the regenerated linear park and the uncovered stream park. This study analyzed the site around the linear parks with four points of view, the organization of urban Fabric, architecture, the economic value of the site and the behavior of residents. This research adopted several research methodologies like aerial photograph analysis, road-view analysis, paper research, and field study, observation, and expert interview to approach as both quantitative and qualitative analysis. With that variation characteristic, the researcher determines the influence of linear park through the residential area around them. As the result, linear park gives positive effects of running sustainable residential area around them and acting as the pivot for the residential area. Also for the future, designers must consider this interactive relation between the linear park and residential area with the wide point of view.
This paper aims to inspect the effectiveness of the Simple Adaptive Control Method (SACM) to control the response of asymmetric buildings with rotationally non-linear behavior under seismic loads. SACM is a direct control method and was previously used to improve the performance of linear and non-linear structures. In most of these studies, the modeled structures were two-dimensional shear buildings. In reality, the building plans might be asymmetric, which cause the buildings to experience torsional motions under earthquake excitation. In this study, SACM is used to improve the performance of asymmetric buildings, and unlike conventional linear models, the non-linear inertial coupling terms are considered in the equations of motion. SACM performance is compared with the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) algorithm. Moreover, the LQR algorithm is modified, so that it is appropriate for rotationally non-linear buildings. Active tuned mass dampers are used to improve the performance of the modeled buildings. The results show that SACM is successful in reducing the response of asymmetric buildings with rotationally non-linear behavior under earthquake excitation. Furthermore, the results of the SACM were very close to those of the LQR algorithm.
The compressors in the air conditioner have the role of the pressurization and circulation of the refrigerant. The hermetic reciprocating compressors driven by rotary motor have been used for the air conditioner. The linear compressor has very simple structure and enhancement in the efficiency in comparison to that of conventional reciprocating compressor. The linear compressors are widely used for the small cryogenic refrigerator (below 1 kW), such as the Stirling refrigerator and pulse tube refrigerator. In the cryogenic application, the pressure ratio of the linear compressor is below 1.5, but the linear compressor for the air conditioner should overcome the high pressure ratio and the large pressure difference between the each sides of the piston. The resonance characteristics of the linear compressor has the significant impacts on the power consumption. To minimize the power consumption, the linear compressor should be operated at the resonance point. In the resonance characteristics, the role of the mechanical and gas spring should be considered. In present study, the cycle of the analysis of the vapor compression refrigeration cycle with the different refrigerants (R134a, R4l0a, R600a) and the designs of the linear compressor are performed. The effects of the stiffness of the mechanical spring on the electromagnetic forces would be discussed. Finally, the results show the design specification of the linear compressor for the air conditioner.

Linear motor can be directly applied to the system needed linear motions without rotary motions. To control high-speed and high-resolution, the development of the linear motors is recently required in the high-integrated and speed process industry This paper presents thermal and vibration analyses as well as measurement standards of the newly developed linear motors through analyzing the thermal behaviors and vibration characteristics of the advanced products. The thermal measurements are conducted for comparing the developed linear motor with the advanced linear motor and the Finite Volume Method(FVM) is used to identify the measurement results. And then the vibration measurement are carried out in the developed and advanced linear motors with respect to the speed. To identify the measurement results, the Finite Element Method is utilized in the developed and advanced linear motors, respectively. The FVM, FEM, and experiments make it possible to understand these characteristics. The improvement is suggested through their results conducted experiment and analyses.
University teachers of linear algebra often feel annoyed and disarmed when faced with the inability of their students to cope with concepts that they consider to be very simple. Usually, they lay the blame on the impossibility for the students to use geometrical intuition or the lack of practice in basic logic and set theory. J.-L. Dorier [(2002): Teaching Linear Algebra at University. In: T. Li (Ed.), Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians (Beijing: August 20-28, 2002), Vol. III: Invited Lectures (pp. 875-884). Beijing: Higher Education Press] mentioned that the situation could not be improved substantially with the teaching of Cartesian geometry or/and logic and set theory prior to the linear algebra. In East Asian countries, science-orientated mathematics curricula of the high schools consist of calculus with many other materials. To understand differential and integral calculus efficiently or for other reasons, students have to learn a lot of content (and concepts) in linear algebra, such as ordered pairs, n-tuple numbers, planar and spatial coordinates, vectors, polynomials, matrices, etc., from an early age. The content of linear algebra is spread out from grades 7 to 12. When the high school teachers teach the content of linear algebra, however, they do not concern much about the concepts of content. With small effort, teachers can help the students to build concepts of vocabularies and languages of linear algebra.
Linear and non-linear regressions were used to derive the calibration function for the measurement of roxithromycin plasma concentration. Their results were compared with weighted least squares regression by usual weight factors. In this paper the performance of a non-linear calibration equation with the capacity to account empirically for the curvature, y = ax$^{b}$ + c (b $\neq$ 1) is compared with the commonly used linear equation, y = ax + b, as well as the quadratic equation, y = ax$^{2}$+ bx + c. In the calibration curve (range of 0.01 to 10 ${\mu}g/mL$) of roxithromycin, both heteroscedasticity and nonlinearity were present therefore linear least squares regression methods could result in large errors in the determination of roxithromycin concentration. By the non-linear and weighted least squares regression, the accuracy of the analytical method was improved at the lower end of the calibration curve. This study suggests that the non-linear calibration equation should be considered when a curve is required to be fitted to low dose calibration data which exhibit slight curvature.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze and design a new hybrid electromagnetic linear actuator for linear pumps. Solenoid linear actuator is widely used because it occupies small space due to no mechanical energy conversion system. In addition, the energy loss is very low and it has no noise. Conventional solenoid linear actuator, however, has the critical drawback of high power consumption. In this research, we present a new hybrid electromagnetic linear actuator using a permanent magnet in order to reduce power consumption. The enhanced performance of the hybrid linear actuator was verified by dynamic finite element analysis.
