  • Fingerprint Recognition System is made up of Off-line treatment and On-line treatment; the one is registering all the information of there trier features which are retrieved in the digitalized fingerprint getting out of the analog fingerprint through the fingerprint acquisition device and the other is the treatment making the decision whether the users are approved to be accessed to the system or not with matching them with the fingerprint features which are retrieved and database from the input fingerprint when the users are approaching the system to use. In this paper, Among various biometrics recognition systems, statistical fingerprint recognition matching methods are considered using minutiae on fingerprints. We define similarity distance measures based on the coordinate and angle of the minutiae, and suggest a fingerprint recognition model following statistical distributions.

  • The segmentation of characters is an important step in the automatic recognition of handwritten text. This paper proposes the segmenting method of off-line handwritten Hangul. The suggested approach is based on the structural characteristics of Hangul. The first step extracts the local features. connected component and strokes from the imput word. In the second step we identify the class of strokes. The third segmenting step specifies WRC(White Run Column) before consonant or horizontal vowel. If the segment is longer than threshold, the system estimates segmenting columns using the consonant-vowel information and column features, and then finds a cornered boundary along the strokes within the estimated segmenting columns.

  • This paper proposes a robust object tracking algorithm using object features and on-line learning based particle filter for mobile robots. Mobile robots with a side-view camera have problems as camera jitter, illumination change, object shape variation and occlusion in variety environments. In order to overcome these problems, color histogram and HOG descriptor are fused for efficient representation of an object. Particle filter is used for robust object tracking with on-line learning method IPCA in non-linear environment. The validity of the proposed algorithm is revealed via experiments with DBs acquired in variety environment. The experiments show that the accuracy performance of particle filter using combined color and shape information associated with online learning (92.4 %) is more robust than that of particle filter using only color information (71.1 %) or particle filter using shape and color information without on-line learning (90.3 %).

  • This study is devoted to the detection of the 3-dimensional point obstacles on the plane by using accumulated scan line images. The proposed accumulating only one scan line allow to process image at real time. And the change of motion of the feature in image is small because of the short time between image frames, so it does not take much time to track features. To obtain recursive optimal obstacles position and robot motion along to the motion of camera, Kalman filter algorithm is used. After using Kalman filter in case of the fixed environment, 3-dimensional obstacles point map is obtained. The position and motion of moving obstacles can also be obtained by pre-segmentation. Finally, to solve the stereo ambiguity problem from multiple matches, the camera motion is actively used to discard mis-matched features. To get relative distance of obstacles from camera, parallel stereo camera setup is used. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, experiments are carried out by a small test vehicle.

  • This paper presents arc/line segments-based Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) by updating accumulated laser sensor data with a mobile robot moving in an unknown environment. For each scan, the sensor data in the set are stored by a small constant number of parameters that can recover the necessary information contained in the raw data of the group. The arc and line segments are then extracted according to different limit values, but based on the same parameters. If two segments, whether they are homogenous features or not, from two scans are matched successfully, the new segment is extracted from the union set with combined data information obtained by means of summing the equivalent parameters of these two sets, not combining the features directly. The covariance matrixes of the segments are also updated and calculated synchronously employing the same parameters. The experiment results obtained in an irregular indoor environment show the good performance of the proposed method.

  • The purpose of the study was to suggest certain measurements of the skirt block pattern drafting process for the Korean female fashion models, with the aim to improve its fit. For this purpose, the study carried out an analysis of the lower body features of a dress form developed for the study. This form was representative of Korean female fashion models' body features. The study performed a cross-sectional analysis at waist and hip levels and measured the angles from the frontal and lateral silhouettes of the dress forms. The comparisons of the skirt block patterns developed through draping by the use of 2 types of the dress forms developed and existed and through drafting according to the current patternmaking method have led to noticeable findings in terms of implementation of the skirt block drafting process for the Korean female fashion models. The results of the study are as follows: (1) the vertical lengths between the levels at the front waist point and the side waist point in the patterns are 0.7cm; (2) the vertical length between the levels at the front waist point and the back waist point in the back panel is 0.7cm; (3) the horizontal lengths between the perpendicular line from the side hip point and the side waist point in patterns are within a range of 2.0 to 2.2cm; (4) the horizontal length between the original and the adjusted back waist points moved into the waist line, in a range of 0.0 to 1.0cm, differs whether the center back line would be folded or sewn.

  • Needs for the methodology of segmentation of linear feature according to the shape characteristics of line feature are increasing in cartographic linear generalization. In this study, the line segmentation method using expansible moving window is presented. This method analyzes the generalization effect of line simplification algorithms depend on the line characters of linear feature and extracts the sections which show exclusively low positional error due to a specific algorithm. The description measurements of these segments are calculated and the target line data are segmented based on the measurements. For segmenting the linear feature to a homogeneous section, expansible moving window is applied. This segmentation method is expected to be used in the cartographic map generalization considering the shape characteristics of linear feature.

  • Modular implementation of a feature is a first step toward feature-oriented product line engineering, which develops and then utilizes core assets to configure products in terms of features. Aspect-oriented programming provides effective mechanisms for improving the modularity of feature implementations. However, as features in general are not independent of each other, changes in the implementation of one feature may cause changes to or side effects in the implementation of other features. Moreover, since the time at which a feature is incorporated into products, called feature binding time, may be various from compile time through load time to run time, a feature may have to be implemented differently depending on when the feature is bound into a product. To make each feature implementation module as independent as possible, this paper proposes aspectual implementation patterns that can effectively separate feature dependencies as well as feature binding time from feature implementation modules. These patterns enable flexible composition of feature implementation modules without affecting other modules according to feature selection. The approaches are demonstrated and evaluated based on a product line of scientific calculator applications.

  • In the present study, we have investigated morphology and evolution of small-scale Ha dynamic features on the quiet sun by analyzing video magnetograms and high resolution Ha images simultaneously taken for 5 hours at Big Bear Solar Observatory on April 18, 1997. From comparisons between time sequential longitudinal magnetograms and H$\alpha$ images covering $150" {\times} 150"$, several small-scale H$\alpha$ dynamic features have been observed at a site of magnetic flux cancellation. A close relationship between such features and cancelling magnetic fluxes has been revealed temporarily and spatially. Our results support that material injection by chromospheric magnetic reconnect ion may be essential in supporting numerous small-scale H$\alpha$ dynamical absorption features, being in line with recent observational studies showing that material injection by chromospheric magnetic reconnect ion is essential for the formation of solar filaments.
