Purpose: To investigate whether or not acupuncture of GB34 produces a significant response of the modulation of somatomotor areas by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study. Methods: The acupoint, GB34, located in the back of the knee, is known to be effective in recovering motor function after stroke. Using 3T MRI scanner, functional MR imaging of the whole brain was performed in 12 normal healthy subjects during two stimulation paradigms; acupuncture manipulation on GB 34 and sham points. This study investigates the activation of the motor cortex elicited by a soft and an intensified stimulation of GB 34. Three different paradigms were carried out to detect any possible modulation of the Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent (BOLD) response in the somatomortor area to motor stimulation through acupuncture. Results: Group analysis from seven individuals showed that bilateral sensorimotor areas (BA 3,4,6 and 7) showed stimulation related BOLD signal contrast of approximately 6% whereas very few areas were activated when sham stimulation is given. Conclusions: The present study shows that acupuncture fMRI study can be safely conducted in 3T MRI environment, and acupuncture stimulation in GB34 modulates the cortical activities of the soma- to motor area in human. The present findings may shed light on the CNS mechanism of motor function by acupuncture and form a basis for future investigations of motor modulation circuits in the stroke patients. Each pixel of InfraRed(IR) sensor differently responds to IR light as time elapses or the sensor on/off operation is repeated. As a result, the quality of IR sensor image is deteriorated, and therefore NUC(Non-uniformity Correction) is periodically needed for IR sensor. In this paper, in order to perform NUC in the Satellite, on-board V-grooved blackbody is designed with a baffle so that the emissivity of black body is to be higher than 0.995 as well as the temperature deviation is less than $1^{\circ}C$ in the range of the infrared wave length from 3.3 to $5.2{\mu}m$. To check its performance, the emissivity and the surface temperature of the blackbody by TRT(Transfer Reference Thermometer) and IR Micrometer scanner are measured, respectively. From the results, black body design is verified and the uncertainty of NUC is estimated through the measurement results.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to determine the accuracy of digitized stone models, impression materials compared to the master model and the reliability of the computer aided analysis. Methods : A master model(500B-1, Nissin dental product, Japan) with the prepared lower full arch tooth was used. Ten vinyl polysiloxane impressions(Examix$^{(R)}$, GC Industrial Corp, Japan) of master model were taken and type IV stone(aesthetic-base gold$^{(R)}$, Dentona, Germany) were poured in stone models. The linear distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed on the Delcam Copycad$^{(R)}$(Delcam plc, UK). The t-student test for paired samples was used for statistical analysis. Results : The mean differences to master model for stone model and impression material were 0.11~0.19mm, and 0.19~0.29mm, respectively. There were statistical differences in dimensional accuracy for full arch impression between master model and stone model/impressions(p<.05). Conclusions : Two different scanning methods showed clinically acceptable accuracy of full arch digital impression produced by them. These results will have to be confirmed in further clinical studies.

D&B(Drill & Blast) method in tunnel construction requires accurate and rapid measurement of the ground movement, which is essential for feedback analysis. Case study and adaptability of IT technique for tunnel survey are discussed in this paper. The application of laserscannig and existing light wave instrument method in the field of tunnel construction were reported in several advanced country including Austria and Japan. Survey for the shoulder movements by IT survey method was conducted at a subway construction site and the results were compared to the conventional method. Also, the economic aspects of laserscannig method were analyzed using measured data which were categorized by expenses, frequency, interval and period in the field of construction. Therefore IT survey solution may contribute to execute more economic and safe construction
In this paper, automatic structure boundary extraction is proposed using terrestrial LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) in 3-dimensional data. This paper describes an algorithm which does not use pictures and pre-processing. In this algorithm, an efficient decimation method is proposed, considering the size of object, the amount of LIDAR data, etc. From these decimated data, object points and non-object points are distinguished using distance information which is a major features of LIDAR. After that, large and small values are extracted using local variations, which can be candidate for boundary. Finally, a boundary line is drawn based on the boundary point candidates. In this way, the approximate boundary of the object is extracted.

In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional (3D) scanning system based on two line lasers. This system uses two line lasers with different wavelengths as light sources. 532-nm and 630-nm line lasers can compensate for missing scan data generated by geometrical occlusion. It also can classify two laser planes by using the red and green channels. For automatic registration of scanning data, we control a stepping motor and divide the motor's rotational degree of freedom into micro-steps. To this end, we design a control printed circuit board for the laser and stepping motor, and use an image processing board. To compute a 3D point cloud, we obtain 200 and 400 images with laser lines and segment lines on the images at different degrees of rotation. The segmented lines are thinned for one-to-one matching of an image pixel with a 3D point.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of the maxillary three-unit fixed dental prosthesis (FDPs) made using two CAD/CAM milling machines : DCM Group(Dentaim CAD/CAM milling machine), WCM Group(Wieland CAD/CAM milling machine). Methods: Each of 10 duplicate models was scanned by blue light scanner(Identica, Medit, Korea), and the three-unit FDPs (STL file) was designed using DelcamCAD. A total of 20 three-unit FDPs was fabricated, comprising 2 groups of 10 specimens each (shrinkage ratio is 1:1). The first three-unit FDPs STL file was used as a CAD reference model (CRM). Obtained STL files by scanning the inner surface of three-unit FDPs were convened into the point clouds-ASC II files. Discrepancies between the point clouds and CRM were measured by superimposition software. Statistical methods to analyze the data were used non-parametric method. The mean (SD) values were compared by a Mann-Whitney U-test. Type one error rate was set at 0.05. Results: WCM group had small discrepancies with $2.17{\mu}m$ of mean value compared to $4.44{\mu}m$ in DCM group. The accuracy values between the two groups showed a sratistically significant difference (Table 2, p<.05). Conclusion: The accuracy of the three-unit fixed dental prosthesis(FDPs) made of two CAD/CAM milling machines were statistically different. Accuracy with which the prosthesis made of WCM group was superior.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to verify the clinical-feasibility of additive manufacturing by comparing the accuracy of four different manufacturing methods for metal coping: the conventional lost wax technique (CLWT); subtractive methods with wax blank milling (WBM); and two additive methods, multi jet modeling (MJM), and micro-stereolithography (Micro-SLA). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty study models were created using an acrylic model with the maxillary upper right canine, first premolar, and first molar teeth. Based on the scan files from a non-contact blue light scanner (Identica; Medit Co. Ltd., Seoul, Korea), thirty cores were produced using the WBM, MJM, and Micro-SLA methods, respectively, and another thirty frameworks were produced using the CLWT method. To measure the marginal and internal gap, the silicone replica method was adopted, and the silicone images obtained were evaluated using a digital microscope (KH-7700; Hirox, Tokyo, Japan) at 140X magnification. Analyses were performed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey post hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The mean marginal gaps and internal gaps showed significant differences according to tooth type (P<.001 and P<.001, respectively) and manufacturing method (P<.037 and P<.001, respectively). Micro-SLA did not show any significant difference from CLWT regarding mean marginal gap compared to the WBM and MJM methods. CONCLUSION. The mean values of gaps resulting from the four different manufacturing methods were within a clinically allowable range, and, thus, the clinical use of additive manufacturing methods is acceptable as an alternative to the traditional lost wax-technique and subtractive manufacturing.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate volumetric and histologic changes in edentulous alveolar ridge areas after ridge preservation using basic fibroblast growth factor-2 (bFGF-2) in combination with collagenated biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP). Methods: The experiments were performed in 6 adult male beagle dogs. The following 3 groups were created: 1) ridge preservation with bFGF-2 and collagenated BCP (experimental group), 2) ridge preservation with collagenated BCP (positive control group), and 3) a negative control group in which no ridge preservation procedure was performed. Volumetric change analysis was performed using an optical scanner and casts. Histological observations were made using light microscopy. Results: After the initial swelling subsided, the magnitude of the volumetric change in the experimental group and positive control group was smaller than in the negative control group. In the experimental group, a distinct trend was observed for the resorption of residual bone and collagen fibers at 4 weeks and for more mature bone and faster healing at 12 weeks. Conclusions: Based on the findings of the present study, bFGF-2 may be considered for use as a therapeutic molecule in ridge preservation procedures.
