  • Modern systems development becomes more and more complicated due to the need on the ever-increasing capability of the systems. In addition to the complexity issue, safety concern is also increasing since the malfunctions of the systems under development may result in the accidents in both the test and evaluation phase and the operation phase. Light rail transit(LRT) with passenger capacity between bus and subway is driven by an unmanned control, so safety issues of LRT in emergency shall be considered more carefully than other rolling stock. Modern railway system is a complex system and many actions in emergency are required. In this view, interoperability approach is effective to identify the related elements in emergency. In this paper, we propose the method to generate the fire response scenario of unmann ed LRT based on the outputs of systems engineering architecture design methodology. The proposed method is could be contributed to establish more reliable and applicable fire response scenario.

  • Colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), because of the novel optical and electrical properties that stem from their three-dimensional confinement, have attracted great interest for their potential applications in such fields as bio-imaging, display, and opto-electronics. However, many semiconductors that can be exploited for QD applications contain toxic elements. Herein, we synthesized non-toxic ZnTe/ZnSe (core/shell) type-II QDs by pyrolysis method. Because of the unique type-II character of these QDs, their emission can range over an extended wavelength regime, showing photoluminescence (PL) from 450 nm to 580 nm. By optimizing the ZnSe shell growth condition, resulting ZnTe/ZnSe type-II QDs shows PL quantum yield up to ~ 25% with 35 nm PL bandwidth. Using a simple two step cation exchange reaction, we also fabricated ZnTe/ZnSe type-II QDs with absorption extended over the whole visible region. The visible-light sensitized heavy metal free ZnTe/ZnSe type-II QDs can be relevant for opto-electronic applications such as displays, light emitting diodes, and bio-imaging probes.

  • Recently, the patent rights for 3D printing technology have expired, while 3D printers with RP (Rapid Prototyping or Additive Manufacturing) and 3D printing technologies are receiving attention. In particular, the development of 3D printers is rapid in Korea, thanks to the increasing sales and popularity of FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling or Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printers. However, the quality and productivity of the FDM 3D Printer are not good, so customers prefer the DLP (Digital Light Processing) method to avoid these shortcomings. The DLP method has high quality and productivity. However, because of the stereolithography equipment, it has few studies compared to optimal values for elements then FDM 3D printing study. In this study, to find the optimal conditions for 3D printing with the DLP method, the aim is to obtain the optimal values (strength, final time, quality) by changing the light exposure time, layer thickness, and z-axis speed.

  • In this study, a gradient material for shielding neutrons and gamma rays was developed, which consists of epoxy resin, boron carbide (B4C), lead (Pb) and a little graphene oxide. It aims light weight and compact, which will be applied on the transportable nuclear reactor. The material is made up of sixteen layers, and the thickness and components of each layer were designed by genetic algorithm (GA) combined with Monte Carlo N Particle Transport (MCNP). In the experiment, the viscosities of the epoxy at different temperatures were tested, and the settlement regularity of Pb particles and B4C particles in the epoxy was simulated by matlab software. The material was manufactured at 25 ℃, the Pb C and O elements of which were also tested, and the result was compared with the outcome of the simulation. Finally, the material's shielding performance was simulated by MCNP and compared with the uniformity material's. The result shows that the shielding performance of gradient material is more effective than that of the uniformity material, and the difference is most noticeable when the materials are 30 cm thick.

  • The Conventional methods of color separation in computer-based machine vision offer only weak performance because of environmental factors such as light source, camera sensitivity, and others. In this paper, we propose an improved color separation method using RGB, HLS, color coordination space, and fuzzy similarity measure. RGB consists of red, green and blue, the three primary colors of light. HLS includes hue, light and saturation, the human recognition elements of co]or. A fuzzy similarity measure was employed for evaluate the similarity among fuzzy colors with the six features of RGB and HLS.

  • To provide the clear images from the direct light on electrical board and display devices, anti glare treatment of display cover glass is needed. In this study, the effects of surface treatment temperature, concentration, and etching solution coating thickness of the gel phase on optical elements control such as gloss, haze of reflected light and transmittance, were investigated. Cover glasses were treated at different coating thickness and additive concentration. The optical properties were examined using spectrophotometer, gloss and haze meter. The surface morphology and roughness were measured by the optical microscope and Ra measuring instrument. The etching rate and surface morphologies were dramatically affected by the concentration of acid additive in the viscous gel because of re-crystallization of components in the etching solution, hydrogel formation and coagulant after coating on glass substrate. In our experimental range, cover glass which is surface-treated with various optical properties as well as the morphology uniformity was obtained; in particular, optical properties could be controlled by etching solution coating thickness of the gel phase and the concentration of additive. The gloss was depended on the surface roughness and it showed the linear relationship between optical transmittance and haze of reflected light, respectively.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrodes, which are used to manufacture organic light-emitting diodes, are used in light-emitting surface electrodes of display EL panels such as cell phones and TVs, liquid crystal panels, transparent switches, and plane heating elements. ITO is a major component that consists of indium and tin and is advantageous in terms of obtaining sheet resistance and light transmittance in a thin film. However, the optical performance of devices decreases with an increase in its thickness. A digital holography system was constructed and measured for the step measurement of the ITO thin film, and the reliability of the technique was verified by comparing the FE-SEM measurement results. The error rate of the step difference measurement was within ±5%. This result demonstrated that this technique is useful for applications in advanced MEMS and NEMS industrial fields.

  • Dynamic object recognition is an important task for autonomous vehicles. Since dynamic objects exhibit a higher collision risk than static objects, our own trajectories should be planned to match the future state of moving elements in the scene. Time information such as optical flow can be used to recognize movement. Existing optical flow calculations are based only on camera sensors and are prone to misunderstanding in low light conditions. In this regard, to improve recognition performance in low-light environments, we applied a normalization filter and a correction function for Gamma Value to the input images. The low light quality improvement algorithm can be applied to confirm the more accurate detection of Object's Bounding Box for the vehicle. It was confirmed that there is an important in object recognition through image prepocessing and deep learning using YOLO.

  • This paper reports results on the physical properties of a powder type of $Al_2O_3:C$ commonly used as a luminescence dosimeter using the LM-OSL technique. On the analysis with the general order kinetics model, the LM-OSL signal measured appeared to be composed of three components (fast, medium, slow) showing the largest area in the medium component. The photoionization cross sections of three components were distributed between $10^{-19}{\sim}10^{-21}cm^2$. The values of the thermal assistance energy were evaluated the largest in slow component and the smallest in fast component, which indicates the electrons trapped in defects attributed to slow component should be the most sensitive to thermal vibration among three components. In illumination to blue light, the fast component showed a rapid linear decay and completely disappeared after light exposure time of about 5 s. The medium component decayed with two exponential elements but the slow component did not observed any noticeable change until light exposure time of 40 s. In a dose response study, all components exhibited a linear behaviour up to approximately 10 Gy.

  • The front transparent conductive oxide (TCO) films in thin fill solar cell should exhibit high transparency, conductivity, good surface morphology and excellent light scattering properties. The light trapping phenomenon is limited due to random surface structure of TCO films. The proper control of surface structure and uniform cauliflower TCO films may be appropriate for efficient light trapping. We report light trapping scheme of ICP-RIE glass texturing by SF6/Ar plasma for high roughness and haze ratio of ITO films. It was observed that the variation of etching time, pattern size and Ar flow ratio during ICP-RIE process were important factors to improve the diffused transmittance and haze ratio of textured glass. The ICP-RIE textured glass showed low etching rates due to the presence of metal elements like Al, B, F and Na. The ITO films deposited on textured glass substrates showed the high RMS roughness and haze ratio in the visible wavelength region. The change in surface morphology showed negligible influence on electrical and structural properties of ITO films. The ITO films with high roughness and haze ratio can be used to improve the performance of thin film solar cells.
