  • This study investigates the various statistical data and measures of coauthorship network in the Korean LIS Research Community such as patterns of coauthorship, structural properties, types of cluster, centrality & impact analysis. This issues are mostly addressed through a Social Network Analysis of articles published from 2000 to 2009(10 years) in Korean Library & Information Science major four Journals. The coauthorship network was constructed and various measures of four centralities, PageRank, Effect size were calculated. The results show three implications. 1) There presents a phenomenon of Pareto's law in the articles publishing counts. 2) The top authors based on publishing counts prefer co-work publishing than solo-publishing. 3) The counts of article publishing are significantly correlated with five measures of network and not correlated with the case of power centrality.

  • This research applied the concepts of IT architecture and IT governance for managing with an integrated computing environment and organized structure, which base a digital library's management and operation. It also aims to analyze the structural system between information technology of human resources and strategy alignment elements of business, which both constitute the core content. Social network analysis software was used to investigate the complicated relationship between IT and business-related strategy alignment elements. The following is the results of carrying out this research on the social network structure and features of strategy alignment elements for a digital library. First, analysis indexes for strategy alignment elements and social network of a digital library were developed. Second, an analysis model was designed based on the analysis index for social network as to strategy alignment elements. Analysis model was appraised by collecting social network datasets for such strategy alignment elements as Communications, Competency and Value, Governance, Partnership, Scope and Architecture, and Skills against the Business strategy, Information strategy, Business and Technology of a digital library. As for the content of analysis, social network structure and specific features were analyzed in relation to a digital library's (1) General social network, (2) Structure of strategy alignment elements, (3) Strategy fit and Functional integration.

  • This study examines the current state of library related data opened through public data portals, and analyzes how much data is being utilized according to the type of releasing organization, and open level. In addition, we analyzed the subject cluster of data and the centrality of data by performing PathFinder Network analysis using keywords assigned to data by dividing the releasing subject into local government and national/public institutions. Based on this, the subject area of library - related data disclosed by local governments and national/public organizations is understood. And identify the main open body that should be opened first by linking with data utilization analysis result and then suggest implications for future improvement in connection with library big data business.

  • In this paper, the necessity calling for a paradigm shift in information organization is summarized: an attempt is being made to move from a web of documents to a web of data. In this, the principles used to make a universal library network, as part of the semantic web, or linked data, are described. Popular RDF vocabularies are also briefly introduced emphasizing FRBR and RDA vocabularies. Some library-related linked data projects are also summarized, describing the steps necessary to make a library catalogue available as linked data, as well as a rationale for doing so. Lastly, proposed models for a universal library network focusing on linked data are suggested. Some implications for the use of library applications for linked data, among others, are also presented.

  • Since information technology such as database or network technology was brought into the information and library science fields, the functions and services of libraries have drastically changed. To cope with the changes of fields, library schools have been improving curricula. This study collected curricula of library and information science in US and Korea and selected classes related to information technology. It also investigated the title keywords and keywords of class description statistically. As a result, 'system, 'database', 'network', 'programing', 'web' are major topic keywords for both countries, but 'library'shows high frequency pnly in Korea.

  • The role of the interconnect network, which connects computing nodes to each other, is important in high-performance computing (HPC) systems. In recent years, the peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) has become a promising interface as an interconnection network for high-performance and cost-effective HPC systems having the features of non-transparent bridge (NTB) technologies. OpenSHMEM is a programming model for distributed shared memory that supports a partitioned global address space (PGAS). Currently, little work has been done to develop the OpenSHMEM library for PCIe-interconnected HPC systems. This paper introduces a prototype implementation of the OpenSHMEM library through a switchless interconnect network using PCIe NTB to provide a PGAS programming model. In particular, multi-interrupt, multi-thread-based data transfer over the OpenSHMEM shared memory model is applied at the implementation level to reduce the latency and increase the throughput of the switchless ring network system. The implemented OpenSHMEM programming model over the PCIe NTB switchless interconnection network provides a feasible, cost-effective HPC system with a PGAS programming model.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore semantic characteristics of IFLA school library guidelines through network analysis. There are two versions, 2002 edition and 2015 revision of the guidelines. This study analyzed the 2002 edition and 2015 revision of the IFLA school library guidelines view point of semantic network, and compared characteristics of two versions. The keywords were to extracted from two texts, semantic network were composed based on co-occurrence relations with keywords. The centrality(degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality) was analyzed from the network. In addition, this study conducted topic modeling analysis using LDA function of NetMiner4.0. The result of this study is following these. First, When comparing the centrality, the 'Program, Teaching, Reading, Inquiry, Literacy, Media' keyword was higher in the 2015 revision than in the 2002 edition. Second, 'Inquiry' in degree centrality and 'Achievement' in closeness centrality which were not included in the 2002 edition top-ranked keyword list, have new appeared in 2015 revision. third, As a result of the analysis of topic modeling, compared to the 2002 version, the importance of topics on programs and services, teaching and learning activities of librarian teacher, and media and information literacy is increasing in the 2015 revision.

  • The roles and services of a library have historically been influenced and developed by the change of information technologies. The ubiquitous technologies have been widely studied for medical area, construction, commerce, broadcasting, telecommunication and so on. The ubiquitous technologies have extended to the roles and services in a library. The development of ubiquitous IT, the roles and functions of a library and information center should be changed. To adjust evolving environment, this study focuses on concept and definition of ubiquitous computing and networks. Especially, with requirements and essential technologies which can be a technological infrastructure for ubiquitous life, library services and roles in ubiquitous life are discussed by literature review, case analysis and expert interview. With the results, this study proposes that library services and roles in ubiquitous life should be considered in two ways which are network and physical spaces. Also, roles of a library in ubiquitous life will be extended to culture and education center including traditional information center. To perform those roles and services, a library should develop various service programs relating culture and education such as personalized service and educational program.

  • In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.
