This study aimed to understand the needs of changes in the teaching-learning environment in the university and to develop the liberal art subject of mathematics. The changes of mathematical belief in the university students were investigated to understand how the liberal art subject of mathematics affected them related to mathematics. Upon the study results, the significant changes were occurred from the utility factor on the subject of mathematics in mathematical belief, the importance factor of the answers in the teaching-learning belief, teaching activity factor of the teachers, and inborn capability factor in the belief on the self-concept. The meaningful learning environment and teaching method for the liberal art subject of mathematics are suggested further by these results.

Social awareness of mathematics and academic attitudes toward the value of mathematics education has kept changing according to the intellectual, political and religious contexts. In this article, we examine how mathematics was defined and recognized in liberal arts education of the Roman Empire and early medieval Western Europe. This study analyzes how mathematics was described in encyclopedic works written in the Roman era after the mid-second century BC and in the Western European monasteries and cathedral schools after the fifth century. Ancient Greek mathematics took a clear place in liberal arts education through encyclopedia writings and prepared a mathematics curriculum for medieval universities. I hope this study will contribute to understanding the origin and context of the mathematics curriculum of medieval universities.

본 논문에서는 대학의 교양수학 과목의 개설 현황과 대학생들의 교양수학에 대한 인식에 대하여 알아보고, 교양수학에 대한 긍정적인 인식의 변화를 위한 방안에 대하여 연구하였다. 대학생들의 교양수학에 대한 현재의 인식과 교양수학에 대한 긍정적인 인식의 변화를 위하여 실생활과 관련된 수학적 내용을 위주로 하여 구성한 '수학과 문화'라는 교양수학과목을 수강하는 학생들을 대상으로 수강전과 후의 수학과목에 대한 인식의 변화를 조사?분석하였다. 그 결과 수학과목에 대한 인식이 긍정적으로 변화했음을 알 수 있었다.

Information systems and decision rules with imprecision and uncertainty in data analysis are studied in complete residuated lattices. In this paper, we introduce the notions of distance spaces, Alexandrov pretopology (precotopology) and join-meet (meet-join) operators in complete co-residuated lattices. We investigate their relations and properties. Moreover, we give their examples.

본 연구는 고등학교 인문계 수학과 대학 경상계열 전공학문 내용과의 연계성을 알아보기 위하여 M대학교 경영대학 경제학과, 경영학과와 금융보험학과에 재학 중인 대학생과 교수들을 대상으로 고등학교 인문계 수학 학습 내용과 대학 경상계열 전공학문과의 연계성에 대한 인식을 분석하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 고등학교 인문계 수학과 대학 경상계열 전공학문의 연계성을 강화하기 위하여 고등학교 학생들이 수학적 개념과 원리에 대해 충분히 이해할 수 있는 수학교육이 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 경상계열로 진학하고자 하는 인문계 고등학생들에게 수학이 전공학문을 공부하는데 필요한 교과목이라는 인식을 심어줄 필요가 있다.

We prove a theorem that there exists at least a solution reaching the prescribed target in autonomous differential inclusion. A weak invariance theorem is obtained from this theorem as its corollary. To deduce the conclusion, we assume that the target satisfies inward pointing condition. This condition will be given by proximal normal cone.

The rapid change in school mathematics curricula occurred over last some periods requires lots of change or improvement in the education method for the university mathematics, especially in calculus. As an effort in this direction we restrict our concern to the freshmen of year 2002 of the Korea university of technology and education to investigate a correlation between their mathematics score on the national entrance examination and achievement score measured by their final grades in a calculus course. As a result of this research we propose a step-wise level educational model for the calculus education. In the model an appropriate teaching contents and method proceeding through the three steps are suggested and implementation issues are discussed. We believe that carrying out mathematics curricular are suggested in the model will be of service to calculus education particularly for student under the 7th national curriculum reform.

A solution of the findpath problem in which a moving object in required to avoid moving obstacles and move to the designated target in the plane is porcided via the second method of Lyapunov. This paper presents an new control designed by a family of piecewise Lyapunov functions to solve a findpath problem and gives some simultion results of that.

In this paper, we tried to analyze 7 textbooks for liberal mathematics in elementary teacher's colleges in Korea and 3 foreign textbooks (2 American textbooks and 1 Japan textbook) which are believed to be used for pre-service education. We tried also to analyze in 3 lesson plans in homepages of Japan teacher's colleges. Next we tried to grope for syllabus of Mathematics for Elementary Teachers, and we suggested one syllabus. But we think that syllabus as a tentative one. So, it must be criticized by other researchers to be better one.
