This study aimed to estimate accuracy of GPS/Leveling and to present availability of GPS/Leveling in public surveying. For this purpose, we carried out GPS survey for bench marks and control points of Hongsung area. Orthometric heights calculated by two GPS/Leveling methods were compared to reference height. The one is calculated by base of geoid models such as EGM96, OSU91A, KGEOID99, and the other is calculated by network adjustment using fixed point. The results of GPS/Leveling by geoid models show that RMSE of EGM96 is ${\pm}0.061m,\;OSU91A\;{\pm}0.725m,\;KGEOID99\;{\pm}0.598m$. The results of GPS/Leveling by network adjustment show that the best RMSE is ${\pm}0.043m$ in case of using three fixed bench mark, and this method can be used for leveling effectively. GPS/Leveling would be able to apply in forth order public leveling and height determination of public control points.

This paper aimes to study a refraction errors developed in the inclined leveling route. Based on Kukkamaki's theory and morden meteorology, the author devised an experiment to test how Kukkamaki's corrections was improved the discrepancy between fore and back leveling in actual slope. Additionally, through the repeated observation between fore and back leveling at one fixed station in the slope and experimental test of continuous inclined leveling route, the author studied the effects of refraction and its characteristics. We carried out leveling and temperature measurements in the continuous inclined leveling route of about 1.5km, and consequently, Kukkamaki's refraction correction values using these respective C=-0.1 and -1/3 values could improve the similar discrepancy.

In geoid modelling field, it is very important the GPS/leveling data because it could be check-out the accuracy of gravimetric geoid and computed the hybrid geoid. In this study, GPS surveying was accomplished in the test area including mountainous area to improve the GPS/leveling data density in Korea. And the geometric geoidal heights was calculated using the GPS/leveling data in the test area and the accuracy of the geoidal heights was analyzed. For this study, GPS surveying was accomplished on the 211 1st and 2nd order benchmarks in Gyeongbuk province and 198 GPS/leveling data were achieved after both baseline analysis and network adjustment. Geometric geoidal heights were calculated using these 198 GPS/leveling data and the accuracy analysis was done by comparison with the geoidal heights from EGM2008 geopotential model. The results showed that the bias and standard deviation computed from 190 GPS/leveling data after gross removal was -0.185$\pm$0.079m. And also, the accuracy analyses according to the benchmark order, baseline length, and altitude were accomplished.

This paper deals with the parameter study of roller leveling process of steel cord using finite element analysis. A simplified model of roller leveling process is constructed for the efficient numerical simulation considering the computing time. Using the constructed simulation scheme, the parameter study of main process parameters, such as back-tension and intermesh, is carried out in order to evaluate elastic recovery angle and roller force quantitatively. The effect of the initial shape of steel cord is also evaluated during the parameter study. And the mechanism of roller leveling process is verified by investigating the residual stress distribution.

This paper presents a GA-based optimal algorithm for a resource leveling model that levels the resources of a set of non-critical activities experiencing conflicts simultaneously up to an assumed level of resource rates specified by the planner using a pair-wise comparison of the activities being considered. A parameter called the future float is adopted and applied as an indicator for assigning leveling priorities to the sets of activities experiencing conflicts. A construction project network example was worked out to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method. The histogram obtained using the algorithm proposed was shown to be the same as, or very close to that produced by the existing resource leveling method based on the least total float rule, which shifts non-critical activities individually.

The lifetime of a solid-state drive (SSD) is limited because of the number of program and erase cycles allowed on its NAND flash blocks. Data cannot be overwritten in an SSD, leading to an out-of-place update every time the data are modified. This result in two copies of the data: the original copy and a modified copy. This phenomenon is known as write amplification and adversely affects the endurance of the memory. In this study, we address the issue of reducing wear leveling through efficient handling of write requests. This results in even wearing of all the blocks, thereby increasing the endurance period. The focus of our work is to logically divert the write requests, which are concentrated to limited blocks, to the less-worn blocks and then measure the maximum number of write requests that the memory can handle. A memory without the proposed algorithm wears out prematurely as compared to that with the algorithm. The main feature of the proposed algorithm is to delay out-of-place updates till the threshold is reached, which results in a low overhead. Further, the algorithm increases endurance by a factor of the threshold level multiplied by the number of blocks in the memory.

A geoid has great meaning as a vertical reference plane, and at this point when GPS measurement is vitalized, it is an important factor that makes level measurements with GPS possible. This study carried out GPS and leveling of newly created complex control points targeting Daejeon. The geoid for the precise area was built by calculating the plane location, elevation and the geoid of each reference point using GPS/Leveling. In addition, this study evaluated the potential of GPS leveling throughout the site calibration. The geoid for the precise area intervals of approximately 1.5km throughout the study was determined. The results highlight the possibility of leveling by estimating direct leveling performance and mean altitude deviation by less than 2cm. Based on the results, if a geoid model for the precise and wide area can be developed throughout ongoing research, survey tasks that require elevation can be streamlined and the efficiency maximized.

To compensate for the shortcomings of spirit leveling, research on the determination of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-derived orthometric height has been actively carried out. However, most analyses were primarily performed inland. In this study, the influences of the arrangement of control points, observation duration, and geoid model on the accuracy of the GNSS-derived orthometric height have been analyzed to suggest the proper method to apply the determination of GNSS-derived orthometric height to the leveling loop disconnected area. As a result, it was found that two known points located near the unknown points need to be fixed in the leveling loop disconnected area. Further, 3 cm level of accuracy can be achieved if the GNSS survey is performed over two days, for four hours per day. In terms of the geoid model, the latest national geoid model should be applied rather than the EGM08 (Earth Gravitational Model 2008) to minimize regional bias and increase accuracy. Future research is necessary to apply the determination of the GNSS-derived orthometric height technique as a method to connect with the islands because the vertical reference system used inland and that used for the islands in Korea are still different.

This study presents the detailed methods for university facilities mapping using GPS and totalstation. In the control survey by GPS network adjustment, the level of significance for the height value of fourth order triangulation stations was estimated about loom. The accuracy analysis of height determination by totalstation for the traverse points showed that the RMSE came out 9mm to the basis of direct leveling, so it indicated that trigonometric leveling by totalstation was correct comparatively. For GPS/RTK method, the result of accuracy analysis about traverse points showed that the RMSE came out 33㎜ in horizontal location to the basis of totalstation's outcome and 15㎜ in height value to the basis of direct leveling. In the construction survey, GPS/RTK surveying is quicker and more economical than totalstation surveying in the feasible areas of GPS surveying, but there were many impossible areas lot GPS/RTK surveying by the obstacles like a building.
A newly developed high intensity discharge (HID) automotive headlamp results in a high luminous gradient at the cutoff line, and proves the superior concept in safer and more com-fortable nighttime driving. This new headlamp technology Provides drivers expanded night vision by a significantly improved light pattern. However, the HID headlamp may dazzle other traffics during traversing a rough road or encountering an unexpected bump. To resolve this problem, an automatic headlamp leveling device is necessary. A preview control is presented for the design of the leveling system. The proposed control algorithm is capable of attenuating a dynamic glare which is one of the major detractors to a driving in dark roads. Computer simulations using ADAMS are carried out to confirm the effectiveness on the control system.
