To compensate for the shortcomings of spirit leveling, research on the determination of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-derived orthometric height has been actively carried out. However, most analyses were primarily performed inland. In this study, the influences of the arrangement of control points, observation duration, and geoid model on the accuracy of the GNSS-derived orthometric height have been analyzed to suggest the proper method to apply the determination of GNSS-derived orthometric height to the leveling loop disconnected area. As a result, it was found that two known points located near the unknown points need to be fixed in the leveling loop disconnected area. Further, 3 cm level of accuracy can be achieved if the GNSS survey is performed over two days, for four hours per day. In terms of the geoid model, the latest national geoid model should be applied rather than the EGM08 (Earth Gravitational Model 2008) to minimize regional bias and increase accuracy. Future research is necessary to apply the determination of the GNSS-derived orthometric height technique as a method to connect with the islands because the vertical reference system used inland and that used for the islands in Korea are still different.
One of the most important quality problems in flat plate leveled from hot rolled coils in cut-to-Iength lines is bowing and cambering when they are cut in small width parts. It is verified analytically and experimentally that residual stress remained in plate is th ε source of the problem. In order to produce low residual stress flat plate from hot rolled coils, the proper conditions of leveling are studied and two things are implemented. One is proper plastic deformation area ratio to reduce residual stress within customer requirement by applying suitable plastic deformation and maintain leveling load within structural strength limit of leveler. The other is maintaining uniform plastic deformation along the width of the plate during leveling. Customer requirement for residual stress is met by applying above 70% of plastic deformation area ratio and uniform deformation along width of coil by adjusting back up rolls according to deformation analysis of work roll and back up roll assembly and leveling tests.
Recently, flash memory has been in a great demand from embedded system sectors for storage devices. However, program/erase (P/E) cycles per block are limited on flash memory. For the limited number of P/E cycles, many wear leveling techniques are studied. They prolonged the life time of flash memory using information tables. As one of the techniques, block erase table (BET) method using a bit array table was studied for embedded devices. However, it has a disadvantage in that performance of wear leveling is sharply low, when the consumption of memory is reduced. To solve this problem, we propose a novel wear leveling technique using Sampling-based Block Erase Table (SBET). SBET relates one bit of the bit array table to each block by using exclusive OR operation with round robin function. Accordingly, SBET enhances accuracy of cold block information and can prevent to decrease the performance of wear leveling. In our experiment, SBET prolongs life time of flash memory by up to 88%, compared with previous techniques which use a bit array table.
The evolution of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology has enhanced positioning performance in terms of positioning accuracy and time efficiency. The technology makes it possible to determine orthometric heights at a few centimeter accuracies by transforming accurate ellipsoid heights if an accurate geoid model has been employed. This study aims to generate a correction surface using GNSS/leveling co-points and a local geoid model, Thailand Geoid Model 2017 (TGM2017), through the Kriging interpolation method in a small local area. Combining the surface and TGM2017 significantly improves height transformation with the 1-cm RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) fit of 10 GNSS/leveling reference points and a mean offset of +0.1 cm. The evaluation of the correction surface at 5 GNSS/leveling checkpoints shows the RMSE of 1.0 cm, which is 82.6 percent of accuracy improvements. The GNSS leveling method can possibly be used to replace a conventional leveling technique at a few centimeter uncertainties in the case of small areas with clear-sky and high satellite visibility environments.
This paper presents a new method on how to calculate the thrust forces acting on an auto-leveling device in headlamps for passenger vehicles. The leveling device is used to lower the angle of lights when a load in the trunk of the vehicle lifts it. In the process of the headlamp design, it is imperative to predict the external forces so that the designers can decide whether to proceed or not. The device is composed of three pivot joints with no reaction moment, a plate that holds the lamp, and a leveling motor that changes rotation to linear motion. In this study, force balance, moment balance, and geometric compatibility are applied to the leveling device system so that a nonlinear system of equations can be derived; the multi-dimensional Newton-Raphson algorithm is then used to solve these. A sensitivity analysis is carried out to verify which design variables affect the system the most: the mass of the lamp and the height between the pivot and leveling device affect the thrust forces the most. Then, considering the friction forces between the moving parts, the hysteresis of the forces are derived. An experimental apparatus, designed and developed in this study, is used to verify the exactness of the derived equations. The results from experiments coincide well with the calculated results. The friction hysteresis, in particular, proves this upon analysis.
When a slope tractor works on the slope land, it travels usually along the contour and slope line. In that case, the efficiency of work generally decreases and the safety of the operator caused by the overturn of the tractor should be considered. Maintaining the tractor body being horizontal during the travel is crucial to solve problems. To overcome such a problem, an automatic leveling control system for slope tractor has been developed. The system composed of sensor for measuring rolling and pitching inclination of the slope tractor chassis, controller, hydraulic control system and mechanism. The limit angle of the leveling control was set up to be ${\pm}15^{\circ}C$ for rolling, ${\pm}7^{\circ}C$ for pitching. The proposed control and hydraulic power system was implemented to the prototype slope tractor. This paper shows results about development of the automatic leveling mechanism and response properties for slope tractor.
Deflection of the vertical is used in geodetic surveying associated with geoid network construction for geoid modeling and ellipsoid decision and obtained by gravity survey, astronomic survey etc. Technique of astronomic survey and gravity survey is very complex and requires a significant amount of time until gathering data. So this study is to determined a various method which evaluates deflection of the vertical and components about deflection of the vertical using GPS results and orthometric height value decided by leveling. Results of components about deflection of the vertical using GPS/leveling is that ${\xi}$ conponent is distributed $-2.11^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\pm}0.62$, ${\eta}$ component is distributed $1.75^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\pm}0.71$. Decision of component about deflection of the vertical using GPS is less complex than existing astronomic survey. Decision of component about deflection of vertical line using GPS is not complicated than astronomic surveying and can determine in a very short time. So it will be important means to determine the exact orthometric height, topographic study and diastrophism if can periodically calculate.
Recently, polymer-modified mortar has been studied for proposed use on industrial floors as top layers with thin thicknesses, typically 5~ 15mm. The purpose of this study is to evaluate basic properties of self leveling materials using polymer modifier as kinds of SBR, PAE, SUBA. Superplasticizer and thickener have been included in the mixes to reduce bleeding and drying shrinkage as well as in order to facilitate the workability required. The self leveling materials using four types of polymer dispersion are prepared with polymer-cement ratios which respectively range from 50%, 75%, and were tested for basic characteristics such as adhesion in tension, crack resistance test, rebound test after the preparative tests for unit weight, air content, consistency ratio etc. The results show almost as equal quality as existing commercial industrial flooring when mortar is modified by polymer dispersion. Adhesion in tension of polymer modified mortars using each SBR and PAE emulsion was over 10 kgf/$cm^{2}$. Crack or flaw derived from shrinkage is strongly dependent on the type of polymer dispersion because of each different total solid of polymer. It is judged that polymer modified mortar with self-leveling can be very well suited for Floor-finished.
The logistics of entire shipbuilding process are integrated during the block erection process and the schedules for the erection process are made prior to. the schedules of any other processes. Therefore, efficient scheduling of the block erection process are one of most important issues in shipbuilding. There are only a few studies published regarding block erection scheduling methods because of its complexity and variability. This paper proposes an algorithm for diminution of maximum load based on constraint satisfaction technique. it is developed primarily for the efficiency in load leveling and applicability to the actual block erection process. The proposed algorithm is applied to actual block erection process and the results shows improvements in load leveling. It can also be used for the scheduling of fabrication, sub-assembly, and assembly to improve load leveling.
