In the case of low-rise buildings in seismic performance evaluation, lateral force resistance of the pillars affects the seismic performance of the building. Evaluation of the seismic performance of the column is determined by the holding performance is evaluated by comparing the shear strength and bending strength it was destroyed bylow intensity. In case of the school building, in order to install the large windows for ventilation and lighting of the partition walls are located between the pillars. The case of the pillars of these, shear failure occurs in the event of an earthquake is often, in the seismic performance evaluation, partition wall and the wall of the shim is evaluated ignoring, pillar of the general pillars If you have to calculate the results of the seismic performance distorted that are destroyed by bending behavior can be evaluated as often. Results of the study, when assessed by distinguishing the effective length of the column, it was found that when a seismic load is applied, it is possible to accurately predict the failure mode, reliable results of seismic performance evaluation of the school building.
An analytical model was developed for predicting the pullout behavior of straight beam longitudinal bars anchored at exterior beam-column connections. The model incorporates a local bond constitutive simulation capable of considering the effects of anchored bar diameter, yield strength and the spacing, concrete compressive strength, and column pressure on the bond characteristics of deformed bars in confined conditions of exterior joints. The analytical techniques adopted in this study were shown to satisfactorily predict the results of pullout tests on straight bars embedded in confined concrete specimens. An evaluation of the ACI-ASCE Committee 352 development length requirements in exterior joint conditions was made using the developed analytical approach. The results of this analytical evaluation are indicative of the conservatism of the current development length requirements in the confined conditions of exterior joints.

Phase Doppler particle analyze. (PDPA) is a instrument which can be used to obtain simultaneous size and velocity measurements in a multiphase flow. In this study, the size of the water droplets entrained from a bubbling surface of a stagnant liquid column is measured by PDPA with a specially designed transmitter of long focal length and large beam diameter. The test section tube is made of acryle with 18 mm I.D. and 900 mm length. The experimental data are obtained for the air superficial velocity between 0.7 m/s to 3.4 m/s at atmospheric pressure. The experimental results show that there exists large difference in the entrainment mechanism between the churn-turbulent flow and annular flow. Through the present study, the phase Doppler analyzer system is shown to be successfully applied to measure particle sizes larger than $2,000\mu\textrm{m}$ if a transmitter of long focal length is utilized.

It is quite complex to draw the geometry of electron trajectories in electron optics because such trajectories have various aberrations that cannot be easily calculated. However, if we need to know roughly the geometry, the focal length and the principal planes in order to understand the properties of column, a simple numerical solution can be a useful method. We are developing the electron beam machining system based on SEM. In this paper, we show rough geometry, focal length and principal planes by a numerical solution for electron lens I in our column. These results will be utilized in developing a simulation program for electron optics.
The effective length factor is a familiar concept for practicing engineers and has long been an approach for column stability evaluations. Neglecting the effects of axial force in the restraining members, in the case of sway prevented frames, is one of the simplifying assumptions which the Alignment Charts, the conventional nomographs for K-Factor determination, are based on. A survey on the problem reveals that the K-Factor of the columns may be significantly affected when the differences in axial forces are taken into account. In this paper a new iterative approach, with high convergence rate, based on the general principles of structural mechanics is developed and the patterns for detection of the critical member are presented and discussed in details. Such facilities are not available in the previously presented methods. A constructive methodology is outlined and the usefulness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by numerical examples.
The quantitative analysis of bearing capacity with stone column-mat is not ease because the bearing capacity of stone column is affected by so many parameters. The bearing capacity of stone column is mainly governed by horizontal resistance along the interface with soil. Also, this foundation system is affected by geometric factors such as column spacing, embedment ratio and failure surface inclination. Therefore, in this study, critical length and the effect of failure surface inclination was studied with single and group end bearing stone columns by loading tests. Results of model tests are compared to the present theoretical methods and are examined with FEM analysis.

The previous studies for dynamic behavior of spatial structure have been zoomed in on roof structure by numerical analytic method. But the roof structure of real spatial structures is supported by lower structure as column and wall. So, when earthquake is occurred, it is predicted that dynamic behavior of roof structure is affected by lower structure. Therefore, on this study, natural period characteristics of arch structures are analyzed according to section, length and the modulus of elasticity of brass column and polycarbonate column and additional mass of roof structure by the scale-down model of arch structure as the most simple structure of spatial structures. The changes of natural periods are generally alike. But, when Polycarbonate column is connected to roof structure, the change of natural period for change of section is relatively large. That means that change of section and section and length of column and additional mass of roof structure have less influence on change of stiffness because the modulus of elasticity of brass is relatively large.

Buckling Restrained Braced (BRB) frames have been widely used as an efficient seismic load resisting system in recent years mostly due to their symmetric and stable hysteretic behavior and significant energy dissipation capacity. In this study, to provide a better understanding of the behavior of BRB frames with various beam-column connections, a numerical study using non-linear finite element (FE) analysis is conducted. All models are implemented in the Abaqus software package following an explicit formulation. Initially, the results of the FE model are verified with experimental data. Then, diverse beam-column connections are modeled for the sake of comparison from the shear capacity, energy dissipation and frame hysteresis behavior points of view until appropriate performance is assessed. The considered connections are divided into three different categories: (1) simple beam-column connections including connection by web angle and connection by seat angle; (2) semi-rigid connection including connection by web and seat angles; and (3) rigid beam-column connections by upper-lower beam plates and beam connections with web and flange splices. Results of the non-linear FE analyses show that these types of beam-column connections have little effect on the maximum story drift and shear capacity of BRB frames. However, the connection type has a significant effect on the amount of energy dissipation and hysteresis behavior of BRB frames. Also, changes in length and thickness of the angles in simple and semi-rigid connections and changes in length and thickness of plates in rigid connections have slight effects (less than 4%) on the overall frame behavior.

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the stability of water tower with a relatively small footing. The water tower is modeled that the column carrying a container is supported by a rotational spring at the base and is of constant cross-section, with a weight per unit length of column axis. The column model is based on the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The Runge-Kutta method and Determinant Search method are used to perform the integration of the governing differential equation and to determine the critical values(critical own weight. and critical buckling load), respectively. The critical buckling loads are calculated over a range of system parameters: the rotational stiffness parameter, the dimensionless radius of container and the own weight parameter of the column. The relation between the rotational stiffness parameter and the critical own weight parameter of the column is analyzed.

This paper proposes an optimal design to improve the performance of the intake system by reducing the noise. We adapt the Taguchi method and column merging method for the above design. At the first stage of the design, the length and radius of each component of the current intake system are selected as control factors. Then the $L^{18}$ table of orthogonal array is used to get the effective main factors. At the second stage, the $L^{16}$ table of orthogonal array and the column merging method is combined to analyze subdivided significant factors. We know that the robust design with the column merging method provides better design for noise of intake system than the robust design itself.
