A Study on the Ship Resistance and Moment Prediction for Running Attitude of 30 Feet Catamaran Sailing Yacht (30ft급 쌍동형 세일링 요트의 항주자세에 따른 실선저항 및 모멘트 추정에 대한 연구)

  • During sailing by wind-driven thrust on the sail, a catamaran sailing yacht generates leeway and heeling. For estimating resistance and moment prediction of a real ship by changing of running attitude, a model test of the ship has to be carried out. This study aims at establishing experimental techniques for a catamaran sailing yacht by changed attitude during running direction. Through the model test, drag and side force of the real ship are predicted. Also through experiment, rolling and yawing moments were considered.

  • This paper examines technical writing and teaching methods based on the perspectives of the complex learning system theory. So, the paper first discusses the constituent elements and characteristics of the complex learning system theory and continues to examine the potential of applying the complex learning system theory to new teaching methods. As a result, not only did the research expand the approach methods of providing technical writing education but also confirmed the potential of actual implementation. Such results will provide a leeway to start applying new teaching methods for technical writing education. Furthermore, the paper proposes more detailed case studies related to this topic as well as development of this research to produce textbooks and other higher level researches.

  • A key element of a successful search and rescue is the correct prediction of the target location. In this paper, new computer models for drift prediction are suggested from the analysis of several methods currently used in other countries. Depending on the availability of the environmental data, users may select a model between the modified versions of U.S. Coast Guard CASP and FLENUMWEACEN SAR. Targets include boats, life rafts and person in water. Life rafts and boats are further classifed. New models are tested and compared with the limited number of field experimental results.

A Study on the Fit Preference Tendency for Ready-to-wear by the Age and Obesity Level of Adult Women (성인 여성의 연령 비만도에 따른 기성복 맞음새 선호 경향 조사)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the fit preference tendency for ready-to-wears(jackets, skirts, and slacks) of adult women and to find out the respective differences by the age range and the obesity level. The study method was the questionnaire survey with the subjects of 699 women of 20 up to 59 years of age. The questionnaire is composed of fit preference tendency, physical measurements, age, and occupation. For the data analysis, SPSS 90. program was used, and descriptive statistics, Crosstabs, ANOVA, Duncan's test, and t-test were conducted. The findings are as follows. 1. Regarding the fit preferred for each part of jackets, skirts, and slacks, among ready-to-wears, the 'thing with some extra width' in every part was most favored, followed by the 'thing fitting perfectly'. 2. The differences were found in the fit preference tendency by the age of adult women. The fit preference tendency was higher among those in their 20's than among those of the other age range, and those in their 30's and 40's preferred the clothes with less extra width in comparison with those in their 50's. 3. The differences were also found in the fit preference tendency by the obesity level of adult women. The fit preference tendency was high in the order of the emaciation, normalcy, and obesity types. 4. The fit preference tendency was found to be more affected by the obesity level than by the age. The fit preference tendency by the obesity level of each age range showed the differences in all of the age range. However, the normal type did not show the preference difference among the age ranges, in the fit preference tendency by the age range of each obesity level. Clothing manufacturing firms should understand the characteristics of consumers, such as their age, body type, extra width preferred, to provide the consumers of target market with suitable leeway, and they should design the clothing products which meet up these needs in style and silhouette.

  • The effective management of major construction resources is the key to the success in high-rise residential building construction projects. It is even more important and challenging as well especially in CBD(central business district) area under tight project duration since little leeway in interface between construction trades, severe constraints in staging n and heavy demands for lifting among construction resources. In order to meet high demands among major construction resources, highly effective construction resource management information system is required This research develops and provides a system which selects and disseminates these information from each phase of procurement transportation, lift-up and storage for major construction resources This research applies the Kanban system, well recognized material information system technique in automobile manufacturing industry, in concrete work processes. It develops concrete procurement information system utilizing VSM(Value Stream Mapping) and also applies the model in actual super-high rise residential building construction project in order to analyze the benefit of the research model.

  • To design ship channel is one of important factors for planning and developing a port. In most case, the core factors for designing ship channel are the layout and width of dvnnel provided the net underkeel clearance is assessed as safety. In this study, Variable Bumper Area(VBA) model is applied to design and assess ship channel. This model reflects ship's principle dimension, ship domain theory, ship speed, conning officer's ship handling skill and experience and all external forces which cause leeway, set and drift and the change of ship maneuvering characteristics. Full Mission Ship Handling Simulator is used to analyze ship dynamic data according to conning officer's ship control, external forces, etc. This model uses Domain-index for assessing the efficiency and safety of the channel. The proposed model is applied to Ulsan new port plan which has a channel width of 1.5 times the length if the largest vessel, a radius if 5 times the length of the largest vessel in a curve of 57 degree centerline angle and SBM facility adjacent to the lateral edge if channel. The result of this study shows tint the width and radius of channel curve are suitable for the target ship but the difficulty of ship handling is caused by the large course change and SBM located in the vicinity if channel.

  • A VDS data in the domestic has been used within limits to real time information such as congestion management, incident management, and route guidance service. On the other hand, a VDS data in the foreign countries had been used to various objectives such as transportation policy assessment, transportation construction evaluation, franc safety improvement, and etc. The scope and method of the study is the VDS data which was installed in the uninterrupted flow such as the freeway and the interrupted flow in a diversion route of the leeway. It has investigated and analyzed the VDS as our subject to study, study objective and study methodology for each study generally classified as 1) data collection 2) data processing 3) data store and 4) data quality section. This study has investigated and analyzed the various literatures in domestic and foreign countries regarding the VDS data. And It drew the development direction of the study which is about VDS data in domestic from now.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reveal the rhetorical features of the Chosun Sijo through researching them. A poem has been made by imagination and rhetorics which are based on the poet's experience. The qualifies of the Poem have been determined by how the poet described the object oddly. So it is essential for the poet to struggle to make embellishments and artistic skills when he or she makes a poem. But the Chosun clerisy ostracized the poet who was trying to do these things mentioned above, which was a kind of special poetic point of view the Chosun clerisy had. They recognized embellishments and artistic skills as a resort to petty trick as a result of their sticking to the external form of the objects. The reason they thought them like this was that the Chosun clerisy thought the embellishments and artistic skills could show the self-pride and self-righteousness. Also, there were concerns on the distortion of the object nature by the artificial concoction. Because they can interrupted and distorted the stream of feeling and the original meaning, the artistic skills mush not be recognized as the artistic skills of itself. As a result, they valued the poem made from restraining the rhetoric and artistic skills. They valued the poem which had common words related people's daily life, but was able to feel the simple Lyricism. The poem based on these features has remains as a work which makes people enjoy the nature, and face their life without any resorts, and which has the natural leeway.

This model reflects ship's particular, ship domain theory, ship speed and mariner's ship handling skill and experience, especially external forces which cause leeway, set and drift and the change of ship maneuvering characteristics. A real time, full mission shiphandling simulator is used to analyze ship dynamic data according to mariner's ship control, external forces, ete. This model defines Domain degree and Domain-index for assessing the efficiency and safety of the channel.   • The UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Drone) technology has been undergoing rapid progress, accompanied with a growth in the market. However, domestic industry standards and technology lag behind such progress happening on the international scene, and in particular in developed countries. Related regulations are also deemed lacking to address the issues that arise with such developments. Meanwhile, as the rise of UAV technology is a fairly recent phenomenon, the gap between Korea and developed countries is not too big. As this technology has high relevance to information and communication technologies, it also offers ample leeway for Korea to catch up in the field of UAV. As such, this paper seeks to provide a survey of the overall technology, market and regulations concerning UAV to identify possible measures on how to address any issues that may arise through proper policies. Due to the progress made in the field of UAV technology and increased penetration rate, striking a right balance between putting in place a proper regulatory system and establishing policies that foster growth in the field has risen as a very important issue. While the importance of establishing a legal system that helps prevent possible risks is indeed important, it must also be acknowledged that excessive regulation can also hinder technological progress. This, in turn would stagnate the market and dampen the entrepreneurial spirit in the society. In the case of new, practical technologies such as UAV, a prompt establishment of regulatory systems and policy measures in terms of policies is a requisite. In brief, in order to promote progress in the UAV industry and at the same time, for public safety and the protection of privacy, there should be an appropriate level on the easing and tightening of the regulation.
